Moonspell's Ribeiro Talks about Upcoming US Tour

Moonspell vocalist Fernando Ribeiro has spoken out about the band’s excitement over their much-anticipated return to the U.S. after a two-year absence:

“If someone told the pessimist in me that we would go on this wonderful tour together with Cradle of Filth and Type O Negative, I would laugh sardonically at him and especially at myself. But now that everything is being put together, I just feel like tapping that lost energy into impressing every single one for what we are, which is what is contained in our music, purely and solely. The first sold-out show we ever played in our lives was supporting COF in a distant 1994 here in Lisbon, and we all agree that the best and most successful tour we ever had was supporting Type O around Europe, back in 1996, the year of all radiances for us. So nothing can fail, and we are working hard to come back in style, with our new album and our old classics, to underline a spark we like to think we left in our dear U.S. audience, which is like we are now: small but powerful. So we would love to meet you all, to have you tasting the antidote and to have you all basking at the moonlight, this agitated moonlight, whose spirits we want to cast upon you, by our words, by our sounds and by our furious love for communicating our (he)Art unto those who can better understand it: you. We do hope to see you all there.”

Nasum Robbed!

Nasum have posted the following at their official website:

“Monday 13th of October, just one hour before we were supposed to go to Uppsala, Sweden and play with Tragedy we had a break in in our car. In broad daylight, in a calm area just outside Anders home.

The only thing that was stolen was a big bag containing some of Anders drum gear; the DW pedals, a cymbal stand, a drum stool, a stickbag with drums sticks AND our beloved backdrop. Everything is gone. Luckily we were able to borrow the lost stuff (except for the backdrop...) and rented a van and got the show, but anyway... :(“

Carnal Forge guitarist Jari Kuusisto has issued the following band update: “We will once again hit Studio Underground for the recording of our fifth album (no title yet). The recording will start February 3rd and we will record about 12 - 13 songs.

To give everyone a small hint of what to expect I can say that we picked up from where the last album, The More You Suffer, stopped. The new songs are a little bit more aggressive, but all of you that liked our previous albums won’t get disappointed.

We have also had some problems with our website, but that will soon be fixed. A studio diary will be posted as soon we hit the studio again.

So we hope to see you all in near future and don’t forget to bang your heads.”

Slipknot Clown Goes Soft On A Side Project

To My Surprise is the latest side project from a Slipknot member. For those who haven't been following hard rock for the last five years, Slipknot is one of the most extreme and aggressive popular rock bands today: nine men from Des Moines who dress in jumpsuits and scary masks and grind out aggressive, mostly tuneless new-metal.

If there is a concert that parents don't want their children at, it is probably a Slipknot show. So far its members' unmasked side projects have included the horror-movie metal of the Murderdolls and the shout-along thrash of Stone Sour. Earlier this year two murder suspects said that they listened to Slipknot for motivation before stabbing a friend to death. For these and other reasons, finding a kinder, gentler project influenced more by the Beatles than Korn is such a shocker, especially considering that To My Surprise is the spawn of not just a Slipknot member but the band's founder, unofficial leader and chief instigator, Shawn Crahan, who dresses as a clown and beats a percussion contraption onstage.

In Slipknot there were lyrics like, "How many times have you wanted to kill everything and everyone?" Songs by To My Surprise like "Blue" are a world away, with optimistic choruses like, "Blue belongs in the sky/ And not on you or I." More...

Ozzy Osbourne Treated for Tremor, Scraps Euro Tour

Reuters reports that heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne said on Tuesday that he was being treated for a nervous tremor he blamed for almost destroying his life and had scrapped a planned European tour in order to recover.

The Glasgow Daily Record reports Ozzy Osbourne is having checks for Parkinson's disease in a Boston hospital. A source said: "He's worried about his shaking and wants to know what's causing it."

The British-born rocker said he had been undergoing tests for the past three weeks for an involuntary shuddering that had become "markedly worse over the last two years."

"I was at the point where it felt as if this problem was practically destroying my life along with my self-esteem," said Osbourne. "I was no longer comfortable being around people, which, as you can imagine, is not the best trait for a performer."

Dr. Allan Ropper, the chairman of the neurology department at Tufts University in Boston and Osbourne's physician, said tests had showed Osbourne did not have Parkinson's disease and that his tremor was "coming under control with medication."

"Unfortunately, one of the side effects of the medication is dry mouth, which greatly impairs the voice. This problem usually subsides after three to four weeks, but the downside is that this will definitely affect Mr. Osbourne's ability to sing at this time," Ropper said.

Osbourne's European Tour, which had been scheduled to begin in Dublin on Oct. 22, will be rescheduled for early 2004, the statement from the performer said. The tour, which had been rescheduled once after a previous cancellation, had been set to run through Dec. 5 in Munich.
