Sirenia Shares "Wintry Heart" Performance Video

International symphonic metal force Sirenia reveals their third and final new single, entitled "Wintry Heart!" Ranking at the top of their genre for more than 20 years, the band will release their eleventh studio album, "1977," on May 26, 2023 via Napalm Records. Led by mastermind Morten Veland, Sirenia gathered worldwide press coverage with their previous releases and toured throughout Europe, Latin America, North America, Asia and Australia.

Fast-paced new single "Wintry Heart" gives a bittersweet taste of early 90’s vibes, roaring guitars and synth melodies, exploring a new style like never before. The single comes with an exciting performance music video.

Morten Veland on "Wintry Heart":
"'Wintry Heart' is a powerful, melodic and more up-tempo song. I also find it to be very energetic - it's definitely one of the songs on the 1977 album that I really look forward to performing live. The chorus also has a great hook line. I hope you'll enjoy it!" More...

Original Saint Vitus Bassist Dies Aged 64

Mark Adams, the original bassist of doom metal legends Saint Vitus, has sadly died from complications of Parkinson's disease. He was sixty four years old. Guitarist Dave Chandler commented on his former bandmate's passing with the following message:

"This is the hardest thing I've ever had to write. I found out last night. I can't say it out loud. I'm heartbroken to inform everyone that my best friend and co - founder of Saint Vitus Mark Adams has passed away. The details are vague, as I haven't actually spoken with the family yet. He left us May 23 2023 peacefully in his sleep. I'm trying to contact anyone in the family to find out more.
Mark was the best person I've ever met. He was kind to everyone, even those who did him wrong. Never had a bad word to say about anyone. Always found the good in everything no matter how bad it was. A great guy to be around. Nothing will ever be the same.

"God bless you my dear friend. I love you."

Adams co-founded Saint Vitus in 1978 along with Chandler and drummer Armando Acosta, staying with the band throughout their first two runs, as well as the short return in 2003. He and Chandler would once again reform Saint Vitus in 2008, who has continued to perform to this day. In 2016, he stepped away from the band to deal with health issues, with his place being filled by Down and former Crowbar and Goatwhore bassist Pat Bruders, who would soon become his permanent replacement.

Nervosa's New Lineup Makes Their British Debut

It was just over a year ago when I last saw Nervosa, during their co-headlining tour with Burning Witches. Thirteen months later and a lot has changed. Nervosa's founding guitarist Prika Amaral has now taken over the vocalist spot from Diva Satanica, while Michaela Naydenova now sits behind the drum kit, where Eleni Nota sat last time the band performed in the Underworld. Nota's departure didn't remove the Greek flavour though as Helena Kotina and Hel Pyre have now joined the ranks as lead guitarist and bassist respectively. So with all this having taken place, fans were eager to find out how this new lineup sounded.

Opening the show were two local bands, the first being Die Ego. The London trio released their latest EP, "74 Days Staring At The Void" a little under two months ago and the material sounds very strong live. The group has a very strong stage presence and comes across well, exceeding the expectations of those in attendance who admitted before the show that their studio recordings weren't to their liking. Obviously the material isn't familiar enough to me to know the setlist, though I do remember one of the songs they performed was "Consumed By Mediocrity," which was enjoyable. All in all, a promising young band with a good repertoire. More...
