Cadaver Signs With Nuclear Blast Records
Norwegian death metallers Cadaver, are proud to announce they have signed to Nuclear Blast Records.Today, the band also announce the release of their D.G.A.F. digital EP.
In celebration of the EP, the band offer fans a lyric video for the title track which features Jeff Walker of Carcass. Watch the video for "D.G.A.F." below.
Anders Odden states, "In 1989 Cadaver got signed to Necrosis Records owned by Jeff Walker and Bill Steer from Carcass. Cadavers debut album, “Hallucinating Anxiety” was released in 1990 as Norway’s first death metal LP. Now, in 2020 Nuclear Blast have embraced the resurrection of Cadaver and release the EP 'D.G.A.F.' with a tip of the hat to the legacy of Carcass. Jeff Walker even join us in the chorus this time around. We are super stoked to release this beast during this very special time. Get your mind off the craziness and enjoy old school death metal”
Dirk Verbeuren comments, "As a legendary band once said, extreme conditions demand extreme responses. We were going to release a 3 song EP sometime after our new album came out, but then a global pandemic happened. While the full-length will arrive at a later date, here's D.G.A.F. in all its brutal glory and on Nuclear Blast, which we couldn't be more stoked about. Consider these misanthropic death metal hymns our soundtrack to the end of days."
"D.G.A.F." is a 3 track digital EP that was recorded and mixed at Northwood Sound Studios in Hollywood, CA. The EP was produced by Cadaver in tandem with Adair Daufembach who also handled the engineering. The album features guest vocals from CARCASS’ Jeff Walker on the title track. For the artwork, the band enlisted Adam Medford and Justin Bartlett.
Below is the "D.G.A.F." digital EP track listing:
1.D.G.A.F.
2.Deformed Insanity

The Black Dahlia Murder Posts New Lyric Video
Today (April 17th), The Black Dahlia Murder have released their new full-length, "Verminous," physically in the USA and digitally worldwide (Verminous will be available physically in Europe on April 24th). For a preview of the album, a lyric video for the single "Removal of the Oaken Stake" can be viewed below.
"Verminous" is The Black Dahlia Murder's most dynamic, rousing and emotional release to date, and it achieves this without compromising one iota of heaviness. "I think this is the biggest evolutionary leap we've ever taken from one album to the next. We stoked the creative fires with 2017's 'Nightbringers' and it's gone much further now in 'Verminous,'" states vocalist Trevor Strnad. "It's a very colorful, moody, and charismatic album that experiments with new sounds and ideas without losing the cutthroat Black Dahlia edge. There is a lot of minutiae to digest. Plenty of delicious little Easter eggs woven into the fabric of each song. Each one is a living, breathing entity that will stand on its own as some of the best music this band has ever created."
While the drums were recorded at The Pipeyard in Plymouth, Michigan by ex-bassist and longtime studio guru Ryan "Bart" Williams, the bulk of the album was recorded in New Jersey at guitarist Brandon Ellis' home studio, the Shred Light District, then mixed by Tue Madsen and mastered by Alan Douches. Produced by Ellis and the band, Verminous sees Black Dahlia having a greater level of control over every facet of recording than on any previous release, enabling them to tweak and fine-tune all the small details right up until the point they sent it to Madsen in Denmark. "To say we were anal-retentive would be an understatement. Tue did an outstanding job. His mix is organic. Classic sounding. Not too slick. It's got an old school 'real life' feel to it rather than being the overly polished quantized-to-hell drek that is coming out these days. We wanted the album's sound to have its own personality, and he helped us achieve just that. Finally, Alan did a great job of smoothing out the final details with his mastering. He beefed it up into what you hear now." The only other outside collaborators with which the band worked were soundscape artist Michael Ghelfi, who provided the sample that opens the record and "sets the pest-ridden vibe", and Juanjo Castellano, who painted the cover. "It's amazing and classically death metal cover artwork. I call it an evil underground sewer world, home to the verminous ones. If you look closely you can find all kinds of rats and bugs and critters scattered throughout. The amount of detail Juanjo put in there is second to none." More...
Currents Reveals New Album Release Date
Currents have shared the video for the new song "A Flag to Wave" and announced the release date of their new record which is available to pre order now. "The Way It Ends" will be out on June the 5th via SharpTone Records. You can check out the video below.
"'A Flag to Wave' is about the search for identity and purpose," says singer Brian Wille. "This song goes out to anyone looking for meaning in their lives and to those who have already found it. Over the last four years, we have traveled the world trying to make a name for ourselves — playing shows with some of our favorite bands and touring all over the United States, Europe, the UK, and parts of Canada. We've been met with various hardships along the way, but have also been met with unprecedented kindness, support, and friendship that we will cherish and appreciate for the rest of our lives. There are no plans of stopping and with our new record, we plan to hit the world harder than ever."
'The Way It Ends' is a thematic and spiritual successor to Currents' dense, bludgeoning, and smartly constructed full-length debut, "The Place I Feel Safest" (2017), and a direct follow-up to the blistering and diverse EP, "I Let The Devil In" (2018).
Those well-versed in Meshuggah, Humanity's Last Breath, Vildhjarta, and Architects have embraced Currents with full-throated passion. A combination of their contemporaries and influences, channeled through unique perspective and personal experience, resulted in something revolutionary. It's why they were handpicked for tours with August Burns Red, As I Lay Dying, We Came As Romans, Fit For a King, Born of Osiris, and the Impericon Never Say Die! Tour. More...

Spirits Of Fire is a dream team of renowned metal musicians, specifically Tim "Ripper" Owens (Judas Priest, Iced Earth), Chris Caffery (Savatage, Trans-Siberian Orchestra), Steve DiGiorgio (Testament, Death) and Mark Zonder (Fates Warning, Warlord).
Reaching out to fans via social media earlier today, guitarist Chris Caffery revealed: "Started recording actual keeper tracks for the second Spirits Of Fire record today! Record doesn’t have a name yet but there are some pretty cool tunes so far!"
"We are going to basically do them a song at a time. There are a bunch written but to finish we are picking a song and attacking them one at a time with final arrangements and the tracking. This one is called 'In Or Out'. Lots of time to work on this now, it is exciting watching it all come together!
"Trying to place these new little videos on my You Tube channel. Had the channel for years but always just put videos here and not there, so I noticed I had a bunch of things people never even saw, and a bunch of views that were lost in cyber space!"
"Stay safe and it was just snowing out here... I see global warming is distancing in some places as well!" More...
Destruction To Release New Live Album
Last year, Destruction played a breathtakingly good show at the German Partysan festival. Fortunately, for everyone who was unable to attend, the thrash heroes recorded this metal party - and now, that the Covid-19 pandemic has crippled the whole live industry, the time has come to share this memory from a gorgeous show. Destruction will release their live album "Born To Thrash - Live In Germany" as digital version on May, 8th!
But that's not the end of the story, to mark this memory for all their loyal fans, the band has launched an interactive map today where fans can sign in and mark the location of their first time seeing Destruction live.
Check it out here:
http://nblast.de/Destruction-WorldMap
The unique world map will become a part of the album. Everyone who participated will be mentioned by name on a poster that comes with the album's physical version. The deadline for participating is April, 24th. This version will be released as CD and Vinyl on July, 17th - strictly limited and a special collector's item!
Singer and bassist Schmier on this:
"We recorded this special show on the release weekend of our 'Born To Perish' record last year, at Germanys awesome Partysan festival. We had the very spontaneous idea to do a live album in those difficult times, where the fans and us bands are longing for concerts. This might help us a bit to keep the spirit, bring us some joy and great memories back.
"This is also the first live record of Destruction as a four piece since the legendary Live Without Sense album. The current line up is the strongest we ever had - and of course, this shows best on a live stage! We have kept it raw and authentic and hope our fans will enjoy this atmospheric highlight of our last concert season as much as we did while thrashing on stage!"
Aborted Posts New Visualizer Video
Belgian deathgrind legends Aborted has posted a new visualizer video online for the track, "Serpent Of Depravity." You can check it out below. The song comes from the band's new EP, "La Grande Mascarade," which was released today.

To celebrate this unholy event we figured we would launch a streaming video of ‘Serpent Of Depravity’ for you all. Probably one of the most technical tracks we have ever written and quite the rollercoaster making one wonder all but ‘where is Carol Baskin’s husband, really?’ Well ladies and gentlemen, all we can tell you is just like tiger feces, this song reeks of brutality! If you haven’t gotten a copy of our new EP and want to support you favourite idiots, do so on the link below. Stream the hell out of it and let’s party (remotely)! Huzzaaaaah!” More...
BPMD Reveals Debut Album Release Date
The time has come! Shortly following the recent announcement of their signing with Napalm Records, BPMD – the new juggernaut featuring heavy metal icons Bobby Blitz (Overkill) on vocals, drummer Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs, Sons of Apollo), bassist Mark Menghi (Metal Allegiance) and guitarist Phil Demmel (Vio-lence, ex-Machine Head) – are thrilled to announce new details regarding their debut album.
BPMD will release their upcoming full-length, "American Made," on June 12, 2020 via Napalm Records. The 10-track homage to some of rock music's greatest treasures is turbocharged by the experience and enthusiasm of its four creators, and its first single, "Toys In The Attic" – an Aerosmith classic just begging for a heavy reimagining – is only the first boisterous sliver of proof.
The "Toys In The Attic" video was directed by Victor Borachuk / JupiterReturn, with art direction and motion design by Natália Tanus and Leonardo Gill. Watch the brand new video for the track below!
Frontman Bobby Blitz says about "Toys In The Attic":
"I remember waaaaaaaaaaay back when Overkill formed, we were cutting our teeth on covers as I was finding my way around the mic. The Aerosmith covers were right in my wheelhouse, so when Mike [Portnoy] picked 'Toys' to cover, I was like... 'Hell Yea'!"
Guitarist Phil Demmel adds about recording the track:
"It was tricky because Aerosmith have two guitarists, Joe Perry and Brad Whitford, playing different things. So, as one guitar player, I had to pick a medium place between the two that sounded good. I thrashed it up a little by adding a lot of down picking and some gallops and triplets." More...

Warbringer Debuts New Lyric Video
SoCal thrash metal force Warbringer will release their highly anticipated full-length follow up to 2017's acclaimed "Woe To The Vanquished," entitled "Weapons of Tomorrow," on April 24 via Napalm Records. Today, the band has unleashed a new video for the grandiose album closer track "Glorious End", which in theme with the album's concept, presents itself as a war epic narrated by an exchange between two close heroes – father and son.
Check out the brand new video below, and witness the somber tale and splendiferous sound of "Glorious End."
Warbringer vocalist John Kevill says:
"’Glorious End' is the grand finale of 'Weapons of Tomorrow,' and a first-person narrative war epic. The verse is done as a father-son dialogue, in which the son promises the father that he will live up to his ancestor's legacy of courage, honor, and duty. The song and title have a cruel twist of irony, as the protagonist's bravery is rendered useless by the horrific new weapons of his time, and he questions the virtues of his father as he dies.
This kind of narrative storytelling element is something we feel is pretty unique to Warbringer among thrash metal bands. The music is hard-charging and aggressive, but also somber, grandiose, and well, glorious. The epic side of Warbringer is something we haven't shared in a single yet, and we thought it was long overdue. Now onwards, brave sons."
Metal Underground recently spoke to Warbringer vocalist John Kevill, which you can listen to in full below. More...
Paradise Losts Posts New Album Trailer
The book has been closed but the story continues: Paradise Lost sharpen their pens and add another chapter to their dark, gloomy history of death, doom and gothic metal. In difficult times, the British legends from Halifax, Yorkshire are the drug that numbs the pain, the lover that takes away the sorrows, the story that craves to be told. "Obsidian", the new album from Paradise Lost, will be released on 15th May.
But, before writing another story of success, Paradise Lost dive deeper into 'Fall From Grace', the first single released from "Obsidian". Check out the album trailer in which Nick and Greg discuss the song's background below.
The sixteenth Paradise Lost studio album, "Obsidian" eschews its immediate predecessors’ gruesome, myopic approach in favour of a richer and more dynamic deluge of black shades. From the deceptive elegance and dual atmospheres of opener "Darker Thoughts" through to the crushing, baroque doom of war-torn closer "Ravenghast," "Obsidian" reveals a band in masterful control of a broad array of vital ideas. Most noticeably, the record boasts several songs that draw heavily from the much-loved, Kohl-encrusted days of ‘80s gothic rock: in particular, newly-minted Paradise Lost anthems "Ghosts" is a guaranteed dancefloor-filler at any discerning goth nightclub.
