Skinless Issue "Nation Retardation" Tour Update
New York-based death metallers Skinless have posted the following message on their web site:
"We fulfilled our own prophecies by calling this the 'Nation Retardation' tour because that is exactly what it became... while it was by not an overwhelmingly negative tour we were met with new challenges every day.
"If there is one thing that I want our fans to know it's that many decisions are made that are totally out of our hands. With the poor economy and the music business literally on its knees, promoters are more likely than ever to flake on their end of the deal. A majority of promoters care about the bands and realize that a shows success is directly attributable to the band's performance. There are a handful out there that are just out for the quick buck and will cut every corner. Quite frequently we are shorted on food and basic rider requirements, something that the promoters are contractually obligated to provide but many times they pocket the money that should have been designated to feed the bands. This really sucks for 6 guys who have been riding hours upon hours in a van without anything real to eat and when people get hungry tensions run high. More...

Council of the Fallen set Early 2004 Release Date
Black/death metal supergroup Council Of The Fallen, featuring Kevin Quiron, Sean Baxter (Broken Hope, Em Simfonia) and Shawn Ohtani and session drummer Tim Yeung (Hate Eternal, Aurora Borealis, Decrepit Birth), have signed to Season of Mist after a one record (Revealing Damnation) stint with Martyr Music Group. The album, which was mixed and mastered by Eric Rutan will be available February 23rd, 2004.
Speaking exclusively to DigitalMetal, vocalist/guitarist Kevin Quiron talked about the upcoming album: “COTF is very happy to have signed with Season of Mist and we are looking forward to this release. The new album will have the same black and death metal elements as our first album Revealing Damnation and we have also added a touch of classical guitar, violin and a couple lines of clean vocals. I've already had some people complain about having clean vocals on the disc, but it’s kept to a minimal and wasn't forced into the songs and sounds very natural. Those mentioned will just have to deal with it.”
Entitled Decipher the Soul, it will feature the following tracks: More...

Jason Newsted Update, New Voivod Material
Former OZZY OSBOURNE and current VOIVOD bassist Jason Newsted has checked in via the Chophouse Studios newsletter. Here's what he had to say:
"I would like to thank the Osbournes for including VOIVOD in their tours this year. I am honored to have had the privilege to share the stage with Ozzy, Zach and Mike through a very successful summer. It was a blast playing old BLACK SABBATH songs with this band!
My agreement with the Osbournes was to play bass for the gigs that Ozzy had committed to through December 2003. I wish Ozzy the best as he continues to fly the flag for metal!
I am excited to be back making new music with VOIVOD. The Chophouse studio is fired up and ready for the creation of the next album."
Andrew W.K. To Host MTV2 Show
Andrew W.K. has been asked by MTV2 to host his own show. According to the singer, "Originally I had so many ideas and plans that I could barely think. I mean, my own TV show? I can do anything I want! WOW! At first I wanted to do something really planned out — something more in a studio where the focus was super singular, but then after thinking about it more, I realized that I just wanted to talk and hang out with people. I thought it would be much better if the show wasn't only about me, but about all the awesome people that are part of what we're doing and part of the world. You know? It's going to be a show where anybody can have the chance to be on, and we'll just do stuff. My main idea with that is to solve problems, or give advice and help. You know? All I'm really thinking is that I want it to be OUR thing, not just a show where you watch this one guy do everything, but a show where you can watch your friends and people do cool stuff and work on basic things. Someone can write in to us, and if choose them we'll go to their house and hang out and talk about their life and their family and school and problems and good stuff and bad stuff... whatever. We'll go to people's work and help them out on the job and see what they're doing and how they make it happen. You'll see! All I know is that it's going to be awesome... and it's up to you to make it really great! Together we will do this, and we will do it all the way!
"Anyway, we're not exactly sure when the show starts, but we're going to start filming it right away this December and January 2003-2004. We have a lot of stuff to film, so we'll be working on it for a while. It's right in the beginning, but it will race forward before we even know it. Just keep your eyes wide and bloodshot with a fresh water drop and look at the information that comes from where it counts!"

Breaking News
Ozzy Osbourne Seriously Injured In ATV Accident
Ozzy Osbourne has been seriously injured in an accident while riding an all-terrain vehicle on the grounds of his British estate, a publicist for the heavy metal legend said.
Cindy Guagenti said Osbourne underwent emergency surgery after breaking his collarbone, several ribs and a vertebra in his neck Monday.
On Tuesday, Osbourne was "stable and comfortable" at Wexham Park Hospital in Slough, west of London, hospital medical director Dr. Dick Jack said.
"When he was admitted, he had a fractured left collarbone ... with some damage to the blood vessel that lies underneath it," Jack said in a statement.
"He had eight fractured ribs on the left, and in addition to that, he has a small ... entirely stable fracture of ... one of the vertebrae in his neck. This is not a major problem. The emergency anesthetic and surgical team repaired the blood vessel and re-established the blood supply to the left hand and arm. The left collarbone was then reconstructed and he was taken to the intensive care unit where he spent the night comfortably. He's resting.
"This morning he will be seen by the doctors who are taking care of him. They will reassess him and make decisions as to what his treatment should be next."
Guagenti earlier said the surgery was necessary to "lift the collarbone, which is believed to be resting on a major artery interrupting blood flow to his arm." Guagenti also said that doctors were attempting to stop "some bleeding into his lungs," but that the injuries were not considered life-threatening.
