(hed)P.E. Guitarist And Drummer Quit
To follow up on rumors that (hed)P.E have broken up, it's been confirmed that guitarist Sonny Mayo and drummer B.C have apparently left the band. It's unclear whether the band will find a replacement for the 2 of them or whether the band will disband, yet as we previously reported, signs point to the latter.
Taiwanese Band Chthonic Play President's Hall
Taiwanese metal band CHTHONIC will finish out a momentous year in its career with two more extraordinary events: playing the annual New Years Eve concert in front of Presidents Hall and the release of the bands Mandarin theme for the 21st Century Fox Taiwan release of Freddy vs. Jason.
The New Years Eve show will also be broadcasted live by FTV (Formosa TV). Earlier this year, CHTHONIC won Best Rock Group award at the 14th annual Golden Melody Award, the biggest music award in Mandarin countries. The award was presented to the group by Taiwan's president Chen Shui-bian.
Though the Freddy vs. Jason film will not be released until January 22nd, CHTHONIC's theme single, 'Satans Horns' is set for release on December 30th. A music video for the track will combine footage of CHTHONIC and film clips for a truly horrifying visual experience.
CHTHONIC will be at the January 17 Freddy vs. Jason premier and press conference to promote the film. The band will also play a Freddy vs. Jason concert on January 31st at The Wall House Live in Taipei. The concert is free to anyone with a Freddy vs. Jason ticket stub.
The group made it's United States debut at the 2002 Metal Meltdown festival and returned that year for a performance at the Milwaukee Metalfest. There are no immediate plans for the band to return to the US as of now.

Slipknot Cancels Korean Concert
Nu metallers Slipknot have cancelled their previously announced Korean show in early February in order to concentrate on completing their new album, according to a statement released Monday (Dec. 22) by the Korean concert promoter Access Entertainment. The Iowa-based nine-piece were due to perform at Seoul's 12,000-capacity "Jam Sil" Indoor Sports Center on February 3 in what would have marked their first-ever appearance in Korea.
Although there has been no official announcement on the matter, Slipknot are also believed to have pulled out of their planned appearance at the Sonicmania festival, a two-day event set to take place in Osaka and Tokyo, Japan on January 31-February 1, 2004.
Slipknot are currently recording the much-anticipated follow-up to 2001's "Iowa" in the Hollywood Hills, California with producer Rick Rubin (System Of A Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Audioslave, Slayer). A May/June 2004 release through Roadrunner Records is expected.
Rob Zombie To Work On New Album Next Year
Rob Zombie's script for 'House of 1000 Corpses 2' has been approved, and the horror auteur tells MTV News he'll start casting the production after the holidays. "It's a very different film," Zombie said regarding the sequel. "It's much darker and more serious. It's a gritty crime movie like [the 1973 Terrence Malick film] 'Badlands.' There's nothing campy or wacky at all." Meanwhile, Zombie plans to start writing his next solo album early next year. Although he hasn't written any new songs, he's got a game plan. "I really want to make a much heavier, darker record," he said. "I'm not worrying about radio or television or anything. I just want to make a really scary record."
Zombie will once again co-write with Scott Humphrey, who has worked on all of his solo albums, but Zombie's backing band will probably be entirely new. "I want to get some new people in there and just experiment," he said. "But I don't have any timetable. If a bunch of songs come quick, the record will come quicker. If they don't, the record will take longer."

Velvet Revolver Reveals New Album Name
VELVET REVOLVER's much-anticipated debut album, due on April 27, 2004 through RCA Records, looks likely to be titled either "Contraband" or "Controband", BLABBERMOUTH.NET has revealed.
As previously reported, the CD — which will include twelve of the more than fifty tracks the band co-wrote before and after vocalist Scott Weiland (ex-STONE TEMPLE PILOTS) joined the lineup last spring — was produced by Josh Abraham (LIMP BIZKIT, STAIND) and mixed by Andy Wallace (NIRVANA, WHITE ZOMBIE, LINKIN PARK, SLAYER, SEPULTURA). Mastering took place on December 19 in New York City.
Weiland, who is currently completing a six-month residential drug rehabilitation program in Pasadena, Ca., finished recording the vocals to the last song for the album Friday (December 26) at Lavish studios in California with engineer Douglas Grean. Songtitles set to appear on the album include "Slither", "Falling to Pieces", "Superhuman" and "Illegal Eye".
VELVET REVOLVER's current lineup is rounded out by former GUNS N' ROSES members Slash (guitar), Duff McKagan (bass), and Matt Sorum (drums), along with guitarist Dave Kushner (SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, LOADED).
