The Great Deceiver Set Studio

The Great Deceiver, featuring Tomas Lindburg, will start working on their new studio album early next year. It will be recorded at Dug Out studios in Uppsalla and Daniel Bergstrand will produce it. The working title is Terror Incognito but this might change in the future.

Brutality Recording New Songs

Florida's Brutality are back in business and they are recording a new studio album, titled From The Ashes. The album will include five new songs, two songs originally written for the Astaroth demo and some older demo songs. The album is scheduled for an early 2003 release.

Abattoir Mixing Evil Incarnate

Abattoir are back and they are currently mixing their new studio album, Evil Incarnate. According to the band: “It's only taken 20 months, three false starts at three different studios, etc. etc. But we are in the final stages. We have played some of the songs for a few people, and the reaction has been very positive. We have been told that it has the complete Vicious Attack vibe, but with a proper recording. That is exactly what we set out to do."

Misery Signals Book First Shows

Following several months of preparation, Misery Signals has now lined up their first show, which will take place on November 15th at 2427 Pierce Street in Milwaukee, WI, followed by the Jim Grimes Birthday Show, and a show in Buffalo on the 17th. The group consists of Ryan Morgan and Kyle Johnson (7 Angels 7 Plagues), Jesse Zaraska (Compromise), Jeff Aust (Hamartia), and Ryan's brother Branden Morgan. Following the aforementioned shows, the group will be entering Bionic Studios in Milwaukee from November 18th through the 22nd to record their debut EP. The effort will feature five songs and will see a release on State Of The Art Records, the label of Matthew Mixon (ex-7a7p) and Jesse Smith (the Killer). Soon after recording the EP, Misery Signals will be hitting the road for several weeks with Every Time I Die and Remembering Never, followed by a tour with Undying and Wage Of Sin. The group also has tentative plans for a tour with Bury Your Dead extending into mid-February.

Fall Silent to Tour Midwest/Northeast

Hardcore outfit Fall Silent is currently mapping out a sixteen city tour, primarily of the East Coast, with Gehenna. Most of the shows are make-up dates for Fall Silent's ill-fated Summer tour, which ended when the band was involved in an automobile accident. The Mistake Complete 7" CDEP

The Mistake recently finished recording a 7"/CDEP for Prime Directive Records. The group features Javier Van Huss (ex-Eighteen Visions) on vocals, Beev (played with Terror on their Summer tour), and recently-added second guitarist Brandan Schieppati (Bleeding Through). The band recorded fourteen songs with Mike McHugh at the Distillery (Le Shok, the Starvations) in Costa Mesa, CA and plays punk hardcore, reportedly akin to Left For Dead and Born Against.

Candlemass DVD Pushed Back

The reunited classic line-up of Candlemass — vocalist Messiah Marcolin, bassist/founder Leif Edling, guitarist Mats "Mappe" Björkman, lead guitarist Lars Johansson and drummer Jan Lindh — have pushed back the release date of their first-ever DVD, Candlemass Documents Of Doom, to Dec. 2 through Escapi UK.

Candlemass Documents Of Doom is essentially the live concert recorded in 1990 at Fryhuset in Stockholm, Sweden and released later as a live album. In addition, the DVD includes an enormous collection of footage charting the history of this extraordinary group from their early beginnings to the surprise UK return at London's Mean Fiddler in July 2002. Live clips, interviews, candid shots plus a separate commentary track recorded recently by the band make this a must-have item for all fans of heavy metal, old and new

Dark Angel Confirmed for Wacken 2003

The reformed Dark Angel — featuring guitarists Jim Durkin and Eric Meyer, vocalist Ron Rinehart, and drummer Gene Hoglan (Strapping Young Lad) — are the latest act to have been officially confirmed for next year's installment of Wacken Open Air festival, which is scheduled to take place between Jul. 31 and Aug. 2, 2003 in Wacken, Germany. They will be joined on the bill by the likes of Iced Earth, Gamma Ray and Stratovarius, all of whom were confirmed to appear at Europe's biggest metal gathering a couple of weeks ago. Other groups rumored to have secured slots at next year's festival include Sinner, Primal Fear and Angel Witch.
