Relapse Signs Two

Relapse Records has signed California's Uphill Battle and Daylight Dies to worldwide recording deals. The Santa Barbara-based quartet Uphill Battle (Danny Walker - drums/vocals, Adi Tejada - guitar/main vocals, Jeff Capra - guitar, Joe Gonzalez - bass/vocals) will release its self-titled full-length Relapse debut in April 2002.

Daylight Dies will showcase their more traditionally rooted melodic metal on its forthcoming full-length CD entitled 'No Reply' due in late spring, 2002.

Amen to Glassjaw

Glassjaw have drafted in Amen drummer Shannon Larkin to guest on their new album, currently in production with Ross Robinson. Apparently the latter feels that the band’s full-time skinsman, Larry Gorman, isn’t totally suited to the studio. However, Gorman will remain a member of the band for touring purposes.

Pitchshifter Lose Guitarist

Rhythm guitarist Matt Grundy has left Pitchshifter after two years. There is said to be no animosity between Grundy and the band, and he’ll be playing with PSI bassist Mark Clayden in a new band called The Blueprint, who also feature Earthtone 9 frontman Karl Middleton and the Consumed pair of Will Burchill (guitar) and Chris Billam (drums).

Therapy? Drummer Quits

Therapy? drummer Graham Hopkins has left the band for undisclosed reasons. However, the split is said to be amicable and Theraoy? are expected to announce a replacement soon.

Elitist Signs Forest Stream

Elitist Records, the new division of Earache, have announced the signing of Russia's Forest Stream. The band is presently working on their as-yet untitled debut album for release later in the year. Taking elements of black metal and doom, Forest Stream composes melodic, atmospheric and heartfelt epics. You can take a listen to the track "Mel Kor" from their demo here.
