Metallica have written some of “the best stuff we've done in a long time” during the band's most recent songwriting sessions, guitarist Kirk Hammett revealed in the March issue of Guitar World magazine.

Diamondhead-lining Metal Meltdown

Diamondhead, the classic NWOBHM band that influenced Metallica among others, will headline the Metal Meltdown Festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey on April 6th. The band's current lineup consists of Sean Harris (vocals), Brian tatler (guitar), Karl Wilcox (drums), Eddie Moohan (bass) along with additional guitarist Floyd Brennan who is a amemebr of the current Diamondhead acoustic lineup.

Spitfire Gets Overkill

Veteran thrash band Overkill have signed with Spitfire Records, leaving the Metal Is label. Plans for 2002 include a live album, DVD and a studio release to follow later in the year.
