Anthrax Bonus Covers

Anthrax have recorded three cover versions during the sessions for upcoming album ‘Taking The Music Back’. These are: ‘Exit’ (U2), ‘Next To You’ (The Police) and ‘We’re A Happy Family’ (Ramones). These are expected to be used as bonus tracks.

Godsmack Stands Alone

SonicNet has an article that talks about Godsmack's upcoming single for "I Stand Alone" from the soundtrack to the Scorpion King.

"I Stand Alone," the soundtrack's first single, is expected to hit radio stations February 5, according to a Universal spokesperson. The video, directed by the Brothers Strause (Linkin Park, Nickelback), depicts Erna as a descendent of the Scorpion King, played onscreen by WWF pro wrestler the Rock, and it intersperses film clips with new footage shot January 23 on a Universal Studios lot in Hollywood.

SOAD Is Third Confirmed For Ozzfest 2002

Ozzy Classics Reissued w/ Bonus Tracks

Digitally remastered reissues of four of Ozzy's most influential discs are being re-released March 26 with previously unavailable tracks.

Blizzard of Ozz will include "You Lookin' at Me Lookin' at You" and a live recording of "You Said It All," Diary of a Madman contains a live version of "I Don't Know," Tribute offers an unreleased single edit of "No Bone Movies" and No More Tears contains two studio B-sides, "Don't Blame Me" and "Party With the Animals," according to a Legacy Records publicist.

Theatre of Tragedy forge new paths

Theatre of Tragedy drummer Hein Frode Hansen recently commented on the making of the group's upcoming Assembly CD, which is scheduled to be released on March 4th in Europe and April 16th in the US. "While working on our last two records, we have made demos of the keyboards and programming in a studio of our own,” Hansen told Release magazine. “After that, we have recorded the guitars, acoustic drums and vocals, and this has lead to a record with a sound that has been more separated or synthetic than we had expected. This time we arranged the basics of the songs, with drums, bass, guitar and keyboard melodies, in the rehearsal room, and after that, added more keyboards, programming and vocals. Die Apokalyptischen Reiter sign to Nuclear Blast

German metal sensations Die Apokalyptischen Reiter have signed over to Nuclear Blast Records after one full-length (2000's All You Need Is Love) album on Hammerheart Records.

The band's fourth full-length album, Everything Is True - Have A Nice Trip, is reportedly already recorded and ready to go. Nuclear Blast hasn't released any more album information, but sources say, the band's label debut should drop in summer 2002.

It's The End for Arcturus

Norwegian "tivolian" metallers Arcturus will have their third full-length album, The Sham Mirrors exclusively released in North America on The End Records....

Arcturus' The Sham Mirrors comes out April 9 on The End Records in North America. A European release is expected to drop April 8 on VME, formerly Voices Of Wonder.

Gorgoroth's Gaahl Faces Jail Time

Norway's Gorgoroth may experience setbacks in the recording of the follow-up to last year's Incipit Satan due to frontman Gaahl's recent imprisonment.

From what we've gathered about the incident, Gaahl was involved in a some level of fisticuffs and as a result will be in jail for an unspecified amount of time. Nuclear Blast reports, Gaahl's jail time is dependent on Norwegian courts, and if he's sentenced to a long period of time, Gorgoroth may in fact disband.

NB takes the knife to Dissection

Nuclear Blast's plans for a Dissection live album and DVD have reportedly been shelved for unspecified reasons.

In light of the events, Nuclear Blast has opted instead to repackage Dissection classic Storm of the Light's Bane with out-of-print EP Where Dead Angels Lie. The re-issue will be given a new booklet, but the label didn't mention the inclusion of any bonus tracks.

Susperia's Vindication

Technical Norwegian black metallers Susperia have set Vindication as the title of the follow-up to last year's Predominance....

Vindication was recorded during November and December at Abyss Studios with Peter Tagtgren and Lars Szoke. Some early song titles are "The Bitter Man," "Cage of Remembrance," "The Bounty Hunter," and "Anguished Scream for Vengeance."

Susperia's Vindication is set for a May 2002 release on Nuclear Blast Records.
