Ragnarok Release Imminent
Norways black metal lords Ragnarok is set to release their 5th album entitled "Blackdoor Mirror". Recorded during Summer 2003 in Abyss Studio with Tommy Tägtgren. The album features 9 songs of ravishing black metal. "Absolutely the best Ragnarok album until this date".
Extensive touring in Europe, South America will commence shortly after the release of the album. Release date is set for the 20th of February.

Marduk to Commence Recording in June
Information regarding the full content for Marduk's upcoming DVD will be released soon. In other band news, 6 new songs have been completed for Marduk's new album and recording will start in June 2004.
Trivium To Record Video
Trivium have added a track entitled 'Like Light To The Flies' which was recorded at AudioHammer Studios over the thanksgiving holidays on their website. You can check it out here.
Trivium will be heading to New York January 11th through January 18th to shoot their first music video for their title track 'Ember To Inferno' with Dale Resteghini from Raging Nation Films. In other Trivium news, the band have been endorsed by Peavey equipment which will be used during their video shoot.
Flu Causes UK Arch Enemy Cancellations
The flu has hit Angela Gossow of Arch Enemy causing the band to cancel 3 UK dates:
"We have just had to cancel the forthcoming shows in Leeds Cockpit, Birmingham Academy II, and Exeter Lemon Grove due to illness. We are obviously extremely upset about having to do this at such short notice, especially after a great show in Glasgow last night. We plan to reschedule these three shows in early 2004. Ticket holders should hold on to their tickets and watch this space for a fuller announcement very soon. In the meantime please check www.archenemy.net for any further developments."

Nephasth Set March Release Date
Mighty Music has announced that they will release the next Nephasth album. The band is currently recording the album and a March, 2004 release date is expected.
Dedication to Release Debut Album
Sweden's Dedication will release their debut album, titled "Reflections Of Time" in March through the Italian label Underground Symphony. The band is still working on the fine tuning of the album, but assure it will be completed in time.
Visions of Atlantis Sign with Napalm
Australian symphonic metallers Visions of Atlantis have signed a worldwide recording deal with Napalm Records.
The band will release their second album through the label in June, 2004. The release will be produced by Emppu Vuorinen and Marcelo Cabuli.

Cruachan Finish Fourth Album
Irish folk metal band Cruachan have completed work on their fourth full-length album, entitled "Pagan".
"Pagan" was recorded and mixed at Radio Na Life Studios in Dublin, Ireland with producer Al Cowen and is the follow-up to last year's "Folk-Lore".
The band recorded a total of 15 songs, of which 13 will end up on the final album and the remaining songs will be used as bonus-material. More...
Abaddon Incarnate Complete New Album
Irish grindcore act Abaddon Incarnate have completed work on their new album, "Dark Crusade", at Soundlab Studios in Sweden for a January release through Xtreem Music.
The 33-minute effort was recorded and mixed over a two-and-and-a-week period and includes 16 tracks.

Opeth, Moonspell to Tour North America
Sweden's Opeth will be returning to North America for another headlining tour beginning next month.
The trek, which is tentatively scheduled to kick off on January 18 and run through the end of February, will feature Portugal's Moonspell in the opening slot and another, as-yet-announced act as direct support (previously scheduled support band Nevermore have since dropped off the bill).
So far, only one date has been announced via Ticketmaster: January 28 at Marquee Theatre in Tempe, Arizona. The rest of the cities and dates are expected to be confirmed by the end of the week. More...
Zyklon Announce Finnish Mini-tour
Norway's Zyklon, the band featuring Zamoth (a.k.a. Samoth) and Trym of Emperor, have lined up the following gigs in Finland in January:

Anathema's Polish Show to be Recorded for DVD
Anathema's Jan. 31, 2004 performance at the "Krzemionki" TV studio in Cracow, Poland will be filmed for an upcoming DVD, according to Metal Mind Productions. Also set to appear are Amplifier, Green Carnation and Corruption.
Anathema's seventh studio album, "A Natural Disaster", was released last month through Music For Nations Records. The follow-up to 2001's "A Fine Day to Exit" was recorded and mixed at Parkgate Studios near Hastings, U.K. (except for two songs, which were mixed in Nottingham at Electric Mayhem) and was produced and engineered by Dan Turner. Cover artwork was handled by artist extraordinaire Travis Smith.
Kreator Issue Album Update
Kreator frontman Mille Petrozza has posted the following message on the band's official web site:

Blood Red Throne Sign with Earache
Norwegian death metallers Blood Red Throne have signed a worldwide multi-album deal with Earache Records.
The brainchild of ex-Emperor bassist Tchort, Blood Red throne have "unleashed a series of gruesomely precise death metal releases, most recently the acclaimed 'Affiliated With the Suffering' record, which has seen them grow steadily in popularity and notoriety," according to an official press release announcing the deal. First Bands Announced for Belgium's Graspop
Judas Priest, Anthrax, Testament, Queensryche and Malevolent Creation are the first bands confirmed for next year's installment of the Graspop Metal Meeting, set to take place June 25-57 in Dessel, Belgium.

Bates Motel Set To Record Follow-up Promo/EP
Bates Motel have booked time at Maple Studios, Southend, to spend 3 days recording the follow-up to the highly successful 1st promo cd "Deus Ex Machina". The band will record at Maple on January 23rd, 24th and 25th 2004 with mixing to take place the week immediately after. The sessions are entitled "In None I Trust" and will most likely contain 3-4 tracks including "WarBreed", "No One Can", "You're my Killer" and "Flatline". A fifth, track, "Fear Vs. Hate" is being considered for inclusion at this stage. The band also plan to include live footage from a couple of shows plus the promo video to "Cease & Desist" from Deus Ex Machina. It is possible that the Total Rock interview with Malcolm Dome may surface as part of the package as well. Expect distribution at shows and from various sites and Essex shops from February.
Hollowed Announce Tour Dates
Melodic black metal band Hollowed, featuring Sean Baxter (Broken Hope, Council of the Fallen, Em Sinfonia), will be embarking on a tour of the Midwest beginning in late January. Confirmed dates so far are as follows:

Swiss Authorities Drop Manson Inquiry
The Associated Press reports Swiss authorities have dropped a criminal inquiry of U.S. shock rocker Marilyn Manson, launched after a religious group complained about his stage act. The Zurich district prosecutor's office said Monday it had found no evidence to back allegations that the artist had incited violence and breached Swiss law protecting religion during a concert in the city in February 2001.
