H.I.M. Fan Injured In Balcony Diving

An unnamed girl was injured during HIM’s sold out show at the Astoria in London last Friday, when a fan jumped off the balcony into the crowd. Here’s what the band had to say about the unwelcome incident: “During the gig, long time fan of the band Bam Margera, who was watching the band from the side balcony at the Astoria, was encouraged by the crowd to take a controlled leap into the audience. Twenty minutes later, in an unrelated incident, an audience member jumped feet first from the back of the balcony into the pit. The crowd below were obviously watching the stage and were therefore completely unaware of what was happening. This idiotic behaviour resulted in a young lady in the crowd suffering cracked vertebrae which will keep her off work for six weeks. HIM, who were unaware of what was going on until after their gig had finished, would like to say that they are horrified by what happened, and they send all of their love and best wishes for a speedy recovery to the young lady who was hurt. To jump from any balcony is wrong, but with Bam at least the situation was controlled – it’s what he does for a living so nobody got hurt - but the other guy could have caused unthinkable damage. The end result was a fan was hurt, and that is as wrong as wrong can be. This must not happen again.”

Velvet Revolver Album NOT Named 'Comrades'

VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash has told the webmaster of his official site, www.snakepit.org, that the title of the group's debut CD is not "Comrades", as has been previously reported, and that the "real" title is so "supercool" that he wanted to wait before an official announcement was made.

The album is scheduled to be released on April 27, 2004. The mastering session was attended by the entire band minus vocalist Scott Weiland who is currently completing a six-month residential drug rehabilitation program in Pasadena, CA.

Polterchrist Signs To Season Of Mist Records

Season Of Mist Records have signed death metallers POLTERCHRIST. Here's the message from the band:

“We are ecstatic about the signing. We have been sweating our blood into POLTERCHRIST for many years. It feels great ; our only goal has been to get our music out to the entire world. We're thrilled that Season of Mist had the made the choice to put their faith in us. Recently, our original, co-founding guitarist has re-joined POLTERCHRIST. We wonder if it was coincidence that now that he's back, we got signed ? POLTERCHRIST has never been tighter. Maybe we just needed him back in the fold ? Maybe it simply was just “our time” ? Regardless, POLTERCHRIST is extremely excited to finally record our debut FULL length CD. SOM will not be let down. We will not let that happen. Monty, Kevin, Dan & Myself are ready to do ALL that it takes to push POLTERCHRIST to the highest of levels!”

Expect a late 2004 release for this debut album.

Sicboy To Records New Demo

Sicboy will be recording some new material in late January. Working again with producer Darius Szczepaniak (Sum41, Black Crowes, Barenaked Ladies), who worked with Sicboy on both Tease and Artificial Flavors , plans are to record 4 to 5 new tracks. The band intends to release the music for free over the internet via www.sicboy.com as well as making it available as a free CD. Considered to be a 'demo' for 2004, but with the added polish of a seasoned producer/engineer, the band plans on shopping it around to prospective labels. Look for the new music to appear in the early Spring 2004. Tentative tracks include: "Recluse", "Unpredictable", "Spitting Bullets", and "MissVee".

Ripper Owens Talks About Priest And Iced Earth

ex-JUDAS PRIEST throat TIM "RIPPER" OWENS explained the differences between working in Priest and now ICED EARTH, "Well, I had a great time in Priest. The only difference may be that now I can hop in my car for four and a half hours and actually see Jon. I have a great relationship with him, and I've always had a great relationship with the guys in Judas Priest. I didn't get to write, and that was a downfall. Basically though, the biggest problem for me was we weren't busy enough in Judas Priest." The lack of work was financially challenging for Owens, "...You had to figure that I was under a contract where I wasn't supposed to do anything else. Even if I was able to, I never knew when Priest was gonna start working again. If I had decided at some point that I wanted to do a solo record, I never knew when Priest was gonna get back together and start working. It was just a hard thing to do. I was fine with it though because it was just such a great time. We were such good friends, and we all got along so well that it never really bothered me until maybe this past year. That's probably when I first started trying to figure out just what in the hell was going on with that, but it never did hurt our friendship."
