Destruction Unveils "Repent Your Sins" Video
This Friday, April 8, the world finally gets to celebrate Destruction’s 40th anniversary with their hard-hitting full-length, "Diabolical!" On the new single "Repent Your Sins," the German thrash metal icons sound better than ever, fully displaying their unbeatable craft as the pioneers of thrash metal – never stepping off the gas!
On their 15th studio record, Destruction brings out heavy artillery full of honest and uncompromising thrash metal, catapulting you straight into the seventh heaven of metallic bliss and causing a massacre of razor-sharp sound no fan of the genre should miss!
Destruction singer/bassist Schmier about the new video:
"The music and the song itself shows the more groovy part of the new record. I love the diminished riff and the way Randy grinds the beat into your head! This will be an awesome live track for sure! The lyrics of 'Repent' are about the history of abuse in the Catholic church! A rather tragic and sad part of human history, that is still covered up by our governments. It seems the laws that count for all of us do not apply for servants of the church. UNREAL INJUSTICE!
"The video itself tries to show the soul torment of the culprit. To live with your dirty deeds but pray about love and kindness can not be justified and needs to be accused, named, remembered and wiped out!" More...

Schmier states about the recording: "This was the most fun we had working on a record in a very long time and you can hear that. Yes. it was theoretically a difficult album but we did not think this way while we recorded it. We just followed our emotions, jammed and rocked out with a strong gut feeling! This recording was like a therapy to me, we all know how difficult times are at the moment. So I’m super happy how everything turned out!"
Guitar shredder Damir adds: "It was a real honor for me to record this album. The studio work for Diabolical was very spontaneous and we had a lot of fun creating these dynamic, multifaceted and brutal but diverse songs. I loved every second of working on this record!" More...

Live Concert Report: 2021 Josefstadt (Day One)
Day one of the Josefstadt (aka Mini Brutal Assault) Festival is history. Were it not for Covid, this would be a five-day festival, with more than two stages, and several times as many bands. However, I can’t complain as this is still one of the largest metal festivals (if not the largest) that has taken place in the past 18+ months.
The layout is different than it was last year and, of course, very different from Brutal Assault. The large Sea Shepherd stage for Josefstadt is where the Obscure stage was for 2019 Brutal Assault. Fortunately, it isn’t enclosed like Obscure was. I felt somewhat claustrophobic in the Obscure tent in 2019. The Octagon stage is the same as it was for Brutal Assault with the twist that it is opened up to a bar within the fortress. Although a major improvement, the area can still be too crowded and difficult to get in and out of.
There is no large video screen like there is for Brutal Assault. This wouldn’t be a big deal if it wasn’t for the fact that the sound and lighting tents are very wide and not that far from the stage. If you aren’t in front of them, you can’t see the stage, which is why the video screen would be nice. Sound quality is excellent (unless you are in the photo pit between speakers) like it is for Brutal Assault.
And now some photos. More...

Schmier states:
"This is a true 80s jewel and a fan demand. I still love to play this song live, even after all these years! The great mix of classics and new anthems is the big plus of Live Attack - and of course the playing time of nearly two hours!" More...

Destruction To Release Live Blu Ray In August
Legendary German thrash metal powerhouse Destruction cements its signing with Napalm Records by smashing an all devastating, neck-breaking "Live Attack" onto the masses! The BluRay/CD live event, including some pre- and after-show bonus content, will be released on August 13, 2021. It follows their latest record, "Born To Perish" (#26 GER album charts), recalling a nearly two hour live stream attack the heavy steamroller unleashed in January this year.
Dive deep into Destruction’s history with the first crushing single and energetic live video for "Mad Butcher," originally released in 1983 as one of the first songs the band ever wrote.
Schmier states:
"‘Mad Butcher’ is one of the first songs we ever wrote, such a classic! I still love to perform it live, it is in my DNA meanwhile, I guess! There are a lot of memories that come along with this track and the history of the band.
"We brought back the double-lead section from the EP version into the solo part; many fans have reacted at that during the live shows, which is really cool! But this DVD will also have some nice surprises, some songs we have not played live in decades…!"
Destruction on their first release with Napalm Records:
"This show at our fave club, the Z7 in Switzerland, was a really special one in the middle of this dreadful pandemic! When we recorded it as a live stream on the 1st of January, it gave us hope back and connected us with the fans worldwide! Many supporters demanded to release it in physical form, so we had to make it happen. The setlist reflects four decades of Destruction with an almost two hour best-of setlist, which includes some really rare live tracks! It was for sure a night to remember… we hope you all enjoy it as much as we did!" More...
