This year marks 15 years of Obscene Extreme and to celebrate the occasion the organizers of the festival decided to go all out in extreme style by hosting an additional three festivals in three additional continents.
Over the last few months Obscene Extreme has appeared in Mexico City - Mexico, Jakarta - Indonesia, and Melbourne - Australia. There has been much success but also some failures and after some time at home to reflect on the adventure the man behind the whole idea, Curby, has spoken about the experience on the run up to the final Obscene Extreme Festival in Czech Republic this July:
"Hello freaks!!! This is Curby/obscene... I believe that you our loyal OEF fans have followed us on our tour so you probably know what happened but for those who haven't I would like to sum up our first ever OEF World tour. When I was pondering over our plans for the World tour I was really full of enthusiasm (and actually I still am). I hoped for something new but our first world volume was a really tough game, not only financially but also emotionally. It's very difficult to understand how big differences are between Europe, Mexico and Indonesia... I knew it would be different, but so much? What can you do if you pay everything in advance as in Mexico and people don't work at all? Not much... when you read my statements for every continent, you`ll understand me... More...
West Coast gore deviants Exhumed will take to the streets again this April on a near month long North American rampage alongside headliners Suffocation.
The live assaults commence April 4th on Long Island, New York and will level nearly two dozen cities before coming to a close in April 28th in Hartford, Connecticut. Additional support will be provided by Jungle Rot, Rings of Saturn, Adimiron and Lord of War (on select dates).
Says Exhumed’s Matt Harvey, “We're beyond psyched to hit the road with long-time faves of ours, Suffocation. This tour will bring all you maniacs one of the heaviest nights of your lives! We couldn't think of a better way to start our tour cycle for 2013 and get people stoked for our upcoming record. We will be debuting some new tracks and have a new show and set ready to melt your face and make you reevaluate your life decisions. We’ll see all your ugly faces in April for a celebration of guts, grog and grotesqueries! Excelsior!”
Coinciding with the tour kick off, the May 2013 issue of Decibel offers up a brand new Exhumed flexi featuring the track "The Beginning After the End," taken from the band’s recently completed recording sessions.
Elaborates Harvey: “We're totally psyched about the Decibel flexi! I remember getting the D.R.I. Manifest Destiny flexi in RIP Magazine and the Sabbat Blood For The Blood God flexi in White Dwarf back in the day, so it's killer to carry on in that tradition. We've talked about doing it ever since we got back together, so I'm more surprised that [editor Albert] Mudrian actually let me write about the SF Giants [included in the baseball preview of the same issue], to be honest. But anyway, the track ‘The Beginning After The End’ is something we did during the latest recording sessions, so it will give folks some idea of the sound and vibe of the new record. Hopefully this track will inspire some curiosity and headbanging, as well as increase the sales of Natural Ice beer and home pregnancy tests. It's also part of our incredibly savvy and calculated promotional campaign designed to get as many of you filthy maniacs out in force for our tour with Suffocation this month, so come on down and let's get weird!” More...
American death metal legends Suffocation have announced that they will be embarking on a tour of North America this April in what is being dubbed the "Despise The World" tour.
Joining them on the trek will be Exhumed, Jungle Rot, Rings Of Saturn, Adimiron and on select dates, Lord Of War. The tour is in support of the new Suffocation album, "The Pinnacle of Bedlam," which was released this past week through Nuclear Blast Records.
Speaking about the tour, the band stated: "The Pinnacle of Bedlam is approaching! Together with Exhumed, Jungle Rot, Rings Of Saturn, Adimiron, and Lord Of War we will tip the scales of degradation. Fans can prepare to see us performing old and new songs with surgical precision. The hooded messenger of death is now set forth!"

Relapse Records has released a new online compilation in honor of Pat Egan, who recently passed away. The label comments:
"Our hearts go out to our brother Pat Egan and his family. Pat was our Director of Sales for over 10 years and passed away on Monday morning after battling pneumonia. We have created a 20 song sampler to benefit his daughter's college fund. Any and all donations are very much appreciated. RIP Pat, we love and miss you!"
The Dillinger Escape Plan also commented on the compilation:
"On Monday Pat Egan, Relapse records director of sales for the past 10 years, passed away after a struggle with Pneumonia and related complications. Pat was a champion and great friend of Dillinger for years and we are very sad to have lost him. He work very had to get our music out to all you guys and now is your chance to show your appreciation.
"Here is a link to a compilation featuring songs by us and a bunch of other bad ass Relapse artists. All proceeds from the download of this compilation will go towards a college fund for his daughter Katie, a scholar and an athlete with a bright future ahead of her. All of the bands on this compilation have waived their royalties and Relapse is passing through all proceeds from the sale of the comp directly to Pat’s wife and daughter.
"The compilation costs a minimum of $5, but you are welcome to donate more than that if you would. There is no limit on how much you can give."

After a short touring break following a massive assault with Napalm Death and Municipal Waste, gore metal purveyors Exhumed will take sonic raucousness to the streets once again this week.
This time the road warriors will be systematically blasting their home state of California alongside grind cohorts Phobia - the frenzy will begin tomorrow, February 15th in Lancaster, followed by beatings in San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Fullerton, Ventura, Santa Cruz, Modesto, Lake Tahoe and San Francisco on the nine city assault.
Stated Exhumed's Matt Harvey on the affair: “We haven't played a show in... well; it's been over a month, so things have been way too quiet. So we're psyched to get into some of the nooks and crannies of the golden state with our old buddies in Phobia. We've totally re-vamped our set, and we'll be rolling out a track from the new record this time around as well, so the show will be all new even for our friends and family locally who've been subjected to our racket a few times recently already. We've been talking about getting on the road with Shane the pain and crew for a long time, so this little jaunt is well overdue. We hope to see a bunch of mutants, maniacs, earth dogs, rivet heads, gorehounds, toe cutters and eye gougers out there on the road! Cheers!" More...
California gore lords Exhumed will return to the road this February alongside grind behemoths Phobia. The short West Coast beat down will commence February 15th in Lancaster, California and conclude February 23 in San Francisco.
The latest stretch of dates follows Exhumed’s maniacal run with Napalm Death and Municipal Waste at the end of the year, which was met with a host of hurdles including being denied entry into Canada and vehicular failure that left them temporarily stranded in Alabama. Comments vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey:
“As happy as we were to get home for the holidays, we thought we should make time to hang out with our old friends in Phobia and grind through our home state of California. We had so much fun playing out-of-the-way places during the impromptu one-off dates we did during the Napalm Death/Municipal Waste tour, we thought we would hit some nooks and crannies back home that we haven't played in years. Plus, we'll get a chance to get a bunch of our buddies' bands on the bill like POOR, Gravehill, DIS and Mortuous. We've been itching to play some stuff from the new album live and we're working out a seriously revamped setlist for this one, so come on out California! Let's have a few beers, let it loose, and get weird!" More...
Thanks to vehicular issues en route home from their mammoth tour alongside Napalm Death and Municipal Waste, the California roadburners in Exhumed have booked an additional week’s worth of headlining live rituals set to commence this Friday in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Elaborates vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey: “Since our van decided to blow up and we're stuck in Alabama for a week, we figured we had time to book some fill-in shows for our longer-than-expected ride home. So come on out and rage with us — last chance in 2012! We look forward to making the most out of this opportunity to melt your faces one last time before we fuck off and get ready for 2013.”

Exhumed recently completed recording the follow-up to 2011’s "All Guts, No Glory" full-length. Titled "Necrocracy," the offering was recorded at Arcane Digital Recording in Chandler, Arizona with Ryan Butler (Misery Index, Landmine Marathon, Phobia). All drums were tracked at Trench Studios in Corona, California with John Haddad (Hirax, Abysmal Dawn, Intronaut). "Necrocracy" will be unleashed by Relapse Records sometime next Spring.
As was previously announced, California gorelords Exhumed were forced to cancel several dates on their tour with Napalm Death and Municipal Waste due to Canadian border patrol issues.
Elaborates vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey of the situation: “If you have a DUI, like four out of six people in our tour party do, the Canadian border patrol will charge you $200 per person to obtain a ‘temporary resident permit’ to be in the country, or, if they feel like being dicks, they can arbitrarily decide to just not let you in. We’ve never had an issue getting in, but this time they decided to be dicks. The woman we spoke to at customs informed us that we had received too many TRPs in too short of a time and would not be able to apply for any further TRPs until we had all completed their extremely convoluted rehabilitation process. We had to sign documents that legally bound us to leave the country immediately, and stated that if we were found in Canada after being denied entry, we would be arrested. Gnarly.
"Anyway, we looked into other options to get in to the country, but unfortunately there's no way we can do the Canadian dates on this tour. We're super bummed to not get to see all our friends in the Great White North. Hopefully we can get this all straightened out -- which means loads money to an immigration lawyer -- before the new record comes out. In the meantime our dauntless booking agent, Dan Rozenblum, is lining up some shows for us on our trek out west to rejoin the Waste / Napalm traveling extravaganza. So come on out and party with us in some seriously down and dirty, tiny and intimate venues. This is our last tour for the year, and we want to make the most of it. If you have a show we could jump on between St. Paul and Seattle, hit up our agent at firstname.lastname@example.org.”
Exhumed recently completed recording the follow-up to 2011’s "All Guts, No Glory" full-length. The as-yet-untitled long player was recorded at Arcane Digital Recording in Chandler, Arizona with Ryan Butler (Misery Index, Landmine Marathon, Phobia). All drums were tracked at Trench Studios in Corona, California with John Haddad (Hirax, Abysmal Dawn, Intronaut). The offering will be unleashed by Relapse Records sometime next year. More...

Exhumed also recently finished recording a new album, which is due for release next year.
West Coast death gore hooligans Exhumed recently completed recording the follow-up to 2011’s "All Guts, No Glory" full-length. The unholy offering will be unleashed by Relapse Records sometime next year.
In the interim, the West Coast road burners, who recently returned from a short run of Japanese dates with death metal legends Cannibal Corpse, will embark upon a five-week North American Tour with Napalm Death and Municipal Waste. See all confirmed dates below.
Exhumed 2012 features the lineup of vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey alongside bassist Rob “Body Bag” Babcock, drummer Mike Hamilton, and guitarist/vocalist Bud Burke, who played bass with the band from 1999 – 2004 and recently rejoined the legion for live rituals on this year’s Summer Slaughter Tour. After nearly two years of nonstop live demolition, West Coast gore-torn death metal goliaths Exhumed recently entered the studio to record to the follow-up to 2011’s "All Guts, No Glory" full-length. The band is currently tracking drums at Trench Studio in Corona, California with John Haddad (Hirax, Abysmal Dawn, Intronaut). Everything else will be tracked at Arcane Digital Recording in Chandler, Arizona with Ryan Butler (Misery Index, Landmine Marathon, Phobia).
The as-yet-untitled long player is expected to offer up ten tracks of audio sickness including “Carrion Call,” “Sickened,” “The Rotting,”and “Coins Upon The Eyes,” and will be released via Relapse Records sometime next year.
Comments vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey of the new material: “We're super psyched to be back in the studio working on a new record. The songs we've worked up are a bit darker and more open this time around, but of course built on the same disgusting foundation we've been repulsing people with for years.
"It's a really natural progression from All Guts... and it's a lot of fun to work with the lineup that's done all the touring. It feels a lot more like a ‘real band’ situation this time around. There will be periodic studio reports on our blog if you want to stay abreast of all the excruciating details. We can't wait to get this thing ready to assault your ears!"
Exhumed 2012 features the smoldering lineup of Harvey alongside bassist Rob "Body Bag" Babcock, drummer Mike Hamilton, and guitarist/vocalist Bud Burke, who played bass with the band from 1999 – 2004 and recently rejoined the legion for their live rituals on this year’s Summer Slaughter Tour. Further studio updates to be announced in the coming weeks. Upcoming tour dates are as follows: More...
The relentless road demons in Exhumed will add to their expanding agenda of live takeovers with a string of Japanese tour dates alongside death metal pioneers Cannibal Corpse. The shows kick off on October 15th in Tokyo and will serve as a warm up to the band’s recently announced five-week North American Tour with Napalm Death and Municipal Waste, with additional support from Vektor, Dayglo Abortions, Attitude Adjustment, Speedwolf, Martha Splatterhead’s Revenge, Repulsion and Dwarves on select dates.
Notes frontman Matt Harvey: "We are totally psyched to head back to the land of the rising sun! Japan has always been one of our favorite places to play -- the kids are amazing, the food is great, and the giant robots are just a delight! To go there with our friends in Cannibal is even cooler, and we are pumped to make sure this will be a death metal spectacle of epic proportions. It's been quite a while since we've been there so it will rule to trot out some new tunes in between sake bombs and bar hopping in Roppongi."
Additionally, the band plan to enter the studio at the end of the year to begin recording a sixth full-length and follow-up to "All Guts, No Glory." Upcoming tour dates are available below.

Philadelphia-based progressive thrashers Vektor, who are currently in the middle of a U.S. headlining tour, have confirmed a string of North American shows with Napalm Death and Municipal Waste.
The band will be appearing as a special guest for eight shows at the beginning of the tour - which also features Exhumed - kicking off on October 26th in Springfield, Virginia. Vektor frontman David Disanto comments:
"We're all extremely stoked to be sharing the stage with such awesome and legendary bands! This will be our first time on the road as a support act and it's an honor because we're big fans of all the bands."

Exhumed, having just finished brutalizing stages on the final nights of the Summer Slaughter tour, has announce a next North American excursion supporting co-headliners Napalm Death and Municipal Waste.
Notes frontman Matt Harvey: “We had planned to finish up our tour cycle for All Guts, No Glory with the Summer Slaughter tour we're currently wrapping up, but as we kept talking about bands we'd like to go out and support on tour, the top two names on the list were quite literally Napalm Death and Municipal Waste. Needless to say, when we were had the opportunity to take part in this tour, our plans to stay home and work on a new record just seemed boring in comparison. There was no way we were passing this up!
"In the immortal words of Mick 'Human Tornado' Harris, we are bloody chuffed to take part in such an autopsy holocaust doss! I couldn't think of a better bill for us, and the prospect of playing with even more of our favorite bands like Attitude Adjustment, Repulsion, and Dayglo Abortions only sweetens the pot! So please bring your liberty spikes, English Dogs-style crimped hair, crusty dreads, hessian thrash bangs, patch jackets, bootleg LARM shirts and as much beer as you can possibly sneak into the venue, because this one is going to be fucking insane! See you there!”

Goregrind roadhounds Exhumed will bring their hymns of repugnance to the live arena again on this year’s edition of the Summer Slaughter Tour, set to commence tomorrow at the House Of Blues in Los Angeles. This run will mark the return of former bassist Bud Burke, who will take the place of Wes Caley on guitar.
Comments frontman Matt Harvey: “We're psyched to welcome Bud Burke back in the ranks of Exhumed, this time on lead guitar. For those of you who knew him as our bassist (from '99 - '04), you will be pleasantly surprised when he melts your face onstage with the band for the Summer Slaughter tour. Rob [Babcock], Mike [Hamilton] and I are all excited to have someone with killer chops and a deep history with the band on board. We look forward to coming to your town, drinking all your beer and then making fun of your record collection as usual! After the Canadian Ritual tour with Black Dahlia Murder, we made the decision to part ways with guitarist Wes Caley, and Bud was the perfect person to step in on lead guitar. I know Wes' new project, Downfall, is currently in the works and will be awesome and we wish him the best. In the meantime, we'll see all your drooling, sweaty faces on the road!”
Exhumed frontman Matt Harvey has been added as a special guest lead vocalist to the all-star studded Death To All Tour 2012. Matt Harvey will be joining drummers Gene Hoglan (Individual Thought Patterns/Symbolic) and Sean Reinert (Human), bassists Steve DiGiorgio (Human/Individual Thought Patterns) and Scott Clendenin (The Sound of Perseverance), guitarists Paul Masvidal (Human), Shannon Hamm (The Sound of Perseverance) and Bobby Koelble (Symbolic), and vocalist/label-mate Charles Elliott of Abysmal Dawn/Bereft.
Harvey replaced Obscura vocalist Steffen Kummerer due to visa issues and had only 9 days to learn his entire set. Matt Harvey elaborates on the opportunity: “To say that I’m excited about hitting the stage with such amazing musicians would be a massive understatement. To say that I’m overwhelmed standing in Chuck’s spot singing his songs would be the understatement of the century. Phrases like ‘it’s an honor’ get tossed around pretty casually, but taking part in this unique celebration is truly exhilarating, humbling and magical for me. Even though the name of the band is Death, this event is a celebration of Chuck’s life and the vitality and staying power of his work. To be able to share what Death’s music has meant to me this way is a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity I am incredibly grateful to have.”
Additionally, the concert organizers commented on Matt’s involvement: “The guys in the band, as well as the organizers and crew, want you to know Matt has been killing it! We are all very thankful for his efforts and talent, being able to pull this off on such short notice.”

Cannibal Corpse is like a peanut butter & jelly sandwich if you think about it. I don’t mean literally, of course. The band has been around for 24 years with largely the same consistent sound. Every one of the records has been consistently outselling the one before it without the band ever selling out to be more commercially viable. The tours have been getting consistently longer due to worldwide demand. In all of these things, consistency is the staple. Cannibal Corpse has shown itself to be one of those universal constants like peanut butter & jelly, and both are widely accepted and can be mighty tasty if you’re in the mood for them.
As evidenced by the long line of black shirts seen up and down Elliston Place outside the Exit/In, Nashville, TN was having a Cannibal Corpse craving at the end of April. Fortunately for us, Cannibal Corpse just rolled into town with a few bands in tow: Exhumed, Abysmal Dawn, and Arkaik. More...
