Carpe Noctem Signs With Code666

Carpe Noctem – a black metal band from Iceland – has signed a multi album contract with Aural Music imprint Code666. The label comments:

"Carpe Noctem’s debut album titled 'In Terra Profugus,' due for release in late summer 2013, is a concept album about an ethereal journey within and without the self, exploring concepts of life, death and the nature of evil. It is about overcoming and reaching understanding through strife and hardship, about self-flagellation of the soul.

"The album title calls upon Cain’s journey into the wasteland of Nod, the self-made exile from God’s creation. Imagery from nature and light references to Nordic myth permeate the text, which is both vivid and esoteric in description. Mixed and Mastered by Paso (The Secret, Ephel Duath) at Studio73, Italy.

"The order of the songs count down at first, and then upwards, signifying the initial descent into the earth, into the dream or afterlife, and the subsequent transformation and resurrection. More...

Disparaged Signs With Apostasy Records

Apostasy Records and Swiss death metal act Disparaged have just agreed to an unholy alliance. The label comments:

"The band was formed in 1999 and they already released three terrific albums so far: 'Overlust,' 'Blood Source,' and 'The Wrath Of God.' The last-mentioned one was yet mixed and mastered by sound expert Jacob Hansen (u. a. Aborted, Volbeat, Destruction, Pestilence).

"All of you who thought Swizz people are slow-going will be proved wrong by Disparaged. The quartet rounds off dynamic drums and harsh brutality with downright virtuous melodies within the solos. Their compositions are similarly conclusive and thrilling.

"We are proud to welcome Disparaged into the Apostasy squad and look forward to provide you with news."

Disparaged also adds: "We are very proud to have found in Apostasy Records a for us perfectly tailored partner. We are looking forward to the cooperation and the release of our new album!"

Pirosaint Posts New Track Online

NY metal act Pirosaint has uploaded a second single from the band's upcoming self-titled album. The brand new track "Tonight" is available for streaming below.

The song was recorded at Oily Sound Studios in New Windsor, NY by Ignacio Orellana and the vocal tracks were recorded at Nacrur Studios by Andres Nacrur in Santiago, Chile. The mixing and mastering was done at Ignacio Figueroa's studios in Viña del Mar, Chile.

The album is expected to be released late 2013 or beginning of 2014. A lyric video will be released in the next few weeks. Drummer Ignacio Orellana commented:

"We are very happy to be working with Ignacio Figueroa, he has been a very patience man and he has giving us the sound that we have been looking for… to be working over the internet has been always a hassle for everyone we know but he have a clear idea of working this way, plus he is a very talented musician and you can see it when you start listening to his band Naioth, he knows what he is doing.

"To make a song talking about going to a concert it may sound a little weird today's day after youtube's way of showing everything day after day, but... back then it was a whole new experience, just remember yourself getting ready to go see to our favorite artists and such waiting for a friend or picking up to a friend before going out… Today we have lost the excitement and expectations about it, so we wanted to pay tribute to that with this song." Bloody Hammers Finishes New Album

American doomsters Bloody Hammers have completed work on their forthcoming album "Spiritual Relics," set to be released worldwide on October 1st.

"We didn't have any live shows booked when our current self-titled album was released," said Anders Manga, Bloody Hammers' vocalist/bassist and songwriter. "It was much more successful than anticipated, but we didn't have much to do at the time, so we went back in the studio while waiting for tour dates to be confirmed. We're very pleased with the result and look forward to getting it out to the fans. The album is packed with more heavy fuzzed out eeriness and horror, as well as some chilled-out creepy southern gothic pieces. It will be released just in time for Halloween, and our performance at Phil Anselmo's Housecore Horror Film Fest in Austin, TX."

Bloody Hammers will also be playing the following live shows with Ancient VVisdom in August:

8/6 - Atlanta, GA - @ Purgatory/Masquerade
8/7 - Nashville, TN - @ Exit In
8/8 - Richmond, VA - @ Strange Matter
8/9 - Baltimore, MD - @ Side Bar

Amorphis Replacing Bullet For My Valentine

Finnish melancholic metal masters Amorphis have been confirmed as support for legendary pioneers Iron Maiden during the open air show at the Olympia Stadium in Helsinki, Finland on July 20th, 2013.

Amorphis is stepping in to replace Bullet For My Valentine, which had to cancel. Other bands on the bill are label mates Sabaton and Ghost B.C.

Commented Amorphis founding member and guitarist Esa Holopainen: "Supporting Iron Miaden is going to be one of my personal highlights in Amorphis' career. It's a pretty hard task as generally Iron Maiden fans (including me) are extremely loyal and going for the show just to see Maiden. Anyhow we'll do our best. As our musical roots lie in old Maiden stuff and we are neither wimps nor posers, I don't think that we can go wrong."

Def Leppard Guitarist Diagnosed With Cancer

Def Leppard guitarist, Vivian Campbell (who has also previously been a member of Sweet Savage and Dio) has announced through the official Def Leppard website that he is currently two months into chemotherapy treatment, after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Despite the treatment Campbell has promised that he will still be performing with the band this Summer. The post from Campbell reads as follows:

“I feel fortunate that my cancer sent me an alarm call in the form of ‘the cough that wouldn’t quit’. Otherwise, how would I have known? After several months of trying every inhaler known to man, my doctor finally had me X-rayed. A further CAT scan revealed that enlarged lymph nodes were doing wrestling manoeuvres on my windpipe – hence the cough. What was causing the enlarged lymph nodes, however, was yet to be determined, so I underwent a surgical biopsy on March 11th, the first day of Leppard rehearsals for our Viva Las Vegas shows. Obviously, I didn’t make it to rehearsal that day, but it’s okay; I know the songs by now.

"My diagnosis was Hodgkin's Lymphoma and 6 months of chemotherapy is the prescribed treatment. I’m about 2 months in and feeling rather spiffy, all things considered. Hodgkin's has an over 80% cure rate, so by my reckoning, if you’re going to have a cancer, Hodgie’s is the one to have! More...
