Anterior Sign to Metal Blade Records

Metal Blade Records has announced the signing of South Wales metal extremists ANTERIOR.

According to a press release, ANTERIOR formed in 2003 when a group of 17-year-olds "set out to create an epic sound combining thunderous riffs, technically exceptional guitar work, relentless drive, and an abundance of melody that they still wield today. And the end result? ANTERIOR forged a unique style that captures an ever-growing army of fans! In the band's short yet illustrious career (the group's members are now between the ages of 20 and 21) ANTERIOR have risen above all, to share stages with household names: DRAGONFORCE, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, HIMSA, and 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, to name but a few. Together with these high profile shows and extensive local radio play, ANTERIOR have proven that they push the boundaries of modern musicianship to a new level, competing with bands much older and more established than their selves." Diecast To Tour With Sevendust

DIECAST will kick off 2007 with a monstrous 10-week U.S. tour alongside SEVENDUST and BLOODSIMPLE, which kicks off Feb. 7. Look for tour dates to be announced early next year. They will also join SEVENDUST and REVELATION THEORY for a special 98 Rock-sponsored New Year's Eve show in Tampa, FL.

This week, the group wraps up a five-week run with SEPULTURA, SWORN ENEMY and SUICIDE SILENCE. This was their first national tour in support of their new album, "Internal Revolution", which is being hailed as their most dynamic and stunning offering yet from critics and fans alike.

Paul Stoddard (vocals) checks in with the following report: "It's been so much fun and such an honor to tour with a band that I’ve loved since I was a kid. SEPULTURA are some of the nicest guys, and they really bring it to the stage. They also talk a great game about their Brazilian football (soccer), but there are a couple of athletes on the DIECAST team that are ready to pull out a ball to see exactly what SEPULTURA is truly made of. Even if they wipe us up and down the field, it would still be a lot of fun. We also got a chance to hang out with our old friends in SWORN ENEMY, and make new friends with our boys in SUICIDE SILENCE. The response and turnout from fans has been phenomenal. Every show, we find people singing along to songs from the new album, and we can't thank you guys enough for supporting us. If you haven't had a chance to see us yet, we'll be coming your way soon with SEVENDUST. Thanks again to everyone, and have a very metal and safe Xmas."

Taylor, Root Felt Like Hired Hands In Slipknot

Kyle Munson of DesMoinesRegister.com recently conducted an interview with vocalist Corey Taylor (STONE SOUR, SLIPKNOT). A few excerpts from the chat follow:

DesMoinesRegister.com: You do seem to increasingly have found your songwriting voice with STONE SOUR, with songs such as "Through Glass" that bring in a broader pop audience.

Corey: When I joined SLIPKNOT, I joined a band that had existed before and there were a lot of things that I had to kind of adjust to. Even over the years, me and Jim — we talked about this — we always felt like we were kind of the hired guns, even though, you know, we helped build this to where it was, it never felt like it was our baby. And rightly so, because it's been Shawn's and Paul's and Joey's from day one. So, you know, we've contributed and we've helped and it's our life and it's what we love to do. But at the same time STONE SOUR has always felt more of like our thing, you know. It's always felt more of, like, this is our family, this is where we really get to do the stuff, like anything that we want to do. But it is what it is — you can go either way with it, really. There's a lot of stuff that I can't do with STONE SOUR that I can do with SLIPKNOT, and I love the fact that I have that freedom.

As Cities Burn Singer Departs

As Cities Burn has announced the departure of vocalist, TJ. Here's a statement from the band:

"TJ will be stepping down as the singer for As Cities Burn. When we came home after our headlining tour this summer, TJ moved to Mississippi, and began his new life with his wife. We began writing the record, and with work, and his responsibilities at home he wasn’t able to make the 3-hour drive often. After awhile it was obvious that TJ had moved on to a new life, and he loved every second of it.

As you can hear on “The Hoard”, Cody will be taking over the singing duties. Colin has moved to bass for the time being, and we have added our great friend Chris Lott “la shreddericus” from The Planning Fallacy on guitar duties. Pascal has not been playing with us since mid July last summer; he’s back in school, and doing some amazing work on cars. We wish him the best of luck in all his pursuits.

We wish TJ and his new wife the greatest of love and happiness in their new marriage, and can’t express enough how much we appreciate everything TJ has done for this band over the past 4 years. He’s still our closest friend in the world.

We hope that you all will stick with us in this time of transition, as we are extremely excited about the direction in which the band is headed."

Meanwhile, the band will enter the studio in mid-February to record a new album, which should be available late-Summer 2007 via Solid State Records.
