Today Is The Day Add Drummer Derek Roddy

Today Is The Day has officially announced the addition of Derek Roddy to their line-up.

Derek Roddy is renowned by musicians and music fans worldwide for pushing the art of drumming to new heights. Best known for his work with death metal bands such as Hate Eternal, Nile, and Malevolent Creation, Roddy's astonishing speed and finesse have won him international acclaim. He currently endorses Sonor Drums, Sabian Cymbals, Axis Pedals, Remo Heads, and Vater Sticks.

Roddy joins a long legacy of great drummers to occupy the Today Is The Day drum throne, including such heavyweights as Brad Elrod (the band's wildly unique original drummer), Brann Dailor (who would go on to form Mastodon), and Marshall Kilpatrick (currently of The Esoteric).

Roddy will make his Today Is The Day recording debut on the band's eighth studio album, "Axis Of Eden." Recording is planned for February 2007 at Steve Austin's own studio, Austin Enterprise, in Nashville, TN. "Axis Of Eden" will be released on Austin's own label, SuperNova Records, later in the year.

Interview

Interview With J. William Heitmann of Ninetail

There's only a handful of unsigned metal acts going in America today that I think truly have earned a chance at being signed to a respectable label that can really bring them to the masses as they so justly deserve and have outright earned with their diehard tenacity and composure in the clinch and without flinching to make the first choice, NINETAIL out of York, Pennsylvania is one of them. They have been putting their money where there mouths are at every single venue they've stepped into here in 2006 in support of their debut LP "The Process Of Conversion" and even when they haven't played up to their full potential on a night, the first guy in the room that will admit it is this gentleman right here, J. William Heitmann. This interview is an honor for me and every single one of you that are looking to start up a band or are in the midst of the process, need to take notes from who I plainly see as metalunderground's classiest act going and a true talent who is only starting to find his big stride as a great metal vocalist. Incubus Celebrates By Re-Enacting "Riverdance"

MTV.com has a lighhearted talk with Incubus talking about their recent #1 album "Light Grenades," the process of writing the album and more. Here's an excerpt:

"Our last two records [2004's A Crow Left of the Murder and 2001's Morning View] debuted at #2 and we were ecstatic about that," Boyd elaborated. "But then we were at rehearsal the other day trying to get good at playing the new songs, and we all got a simultaneous e-mail saying that our record debuted at #1, and we all looked at each other kind of suspicious like ... someone's messing with us. And then we did a little 'Riverdance' thing together, where we like kicked our heels together in a circle, and then there was that moment of uncomfortable silence like, 'That was really lame, what we just did."
