Laethora Set Release Date

THE END RECORDS has set a February 20th, 2007 U.S. release date for their debut album from Sweden’s LAETHORA titled "March of the Parasite." The album, which features guitarist Niklas Sundin from Dark Tranquillity and members of The Provenance (Joakim Rosen, bassist Jonnie Tall and drummer Joel Lindell), is firmly rooted in the death/grind tradition, yet challenging and innovative. In a recent interview with MTV.COM about the debut, Sundin described the album as "extreme and in-your-face, but organic rather than clinical-sounding."

In other news, Sundin notes: “Things are going fine in the Laethora camp. As soon as all the paperwork is done, we'll announce a record label for the European territory. In addition, we’re hard at work writing songs for the follow-up to March of the Parasite as well as planning for the first couple of live shows. More news to follow in the near future!”

The song “Black Void Remembrance” off the forthcoming debut is now available for streaming at the official The End Records' MySpace page.

Giant Squid Recording Through The Holidays

Austin, Texas-based eclectic doom rock band Giant Squid are keeping busy over the holidays, writing and recording new material and planning an upcoming tour of the U.S. and Canada. Giant Squid's singer/guitarist/frontman, Aaron Gregory, checks in to deliver a heads up on the latest happenings in the band:

"Last week after Thanksgiving, exactly a year since we were tracking Metridium Fields in 2005, we hit the Austin-based, personal home studio of Metridium Fields' eccentric producer, Jason Rufuss Sewell, known as Nebulost Productions. We are tracking a new song called 'Sutter's Fort,' named after the legendary California fort that served as a birth place for early Californian commerce, but was deserted when word spread of the discovery of gold in the near by American River. The fort was vandalized, abused, and exploited until there was nothing left but the founder himself, John Sutter. Many years later, the fort was relocated and restored as a historical landmark to the center of midtown Sacramento, the home town of Giant Squid, and is a huge part of Sacramento's history. Though this song was written well over a year ago, and has popped in and out of Giant Squid's live set since, it has a whole new meaning today. We've been dying to track some new material forever now, since Metridium Fields is a reissue of a record we did in 2002, and so this is a great opportunity to do that. We plan on including the song on The End Records' 2007 sampler, as well as posting the new track as a MySpace exclusive." More...

Interview With Griff Of Ninetail

What a year in metal it has been for York, Pennsylvania's NINETAIL.. And what a great group of people involved here, from Greg Bowman with Level Nine Entertainment to each and every bandmate in this act. I have to deal with a lot of headaches or 'head cases' if you will from so many countless upcoming acts that come nowhere near the level of greatness that you will surely find here with this underground phenomenon. They have been stomping through one venue to the next on their local scene in support of their debut LP "The Process Of Conversion" here in 2006, playing alongside some really big names, and seem to have built up an an incredible following that should certainly help propel them to the top names of the business in 2007. I had the opportunity to get some Q&A in with their bass player, Griff. Watch it go. More...

Interview with Paul M. of Cannibal Corpse

On November 13, 2006 I had the privilege and honor to interview Paul Mazurkiewicz, the drum master of Cannibal Corpse. He was one of the nicest down to earth guys I've ever met - not at all what I expected. I was expecting a rip your face of type of guy and at first thought that as I got on the Cannibal Corpse tour bus as everyone in the band clearly hits the gym at least twice a week. After the interview I expressed how much of a dream come true the opportunity was and asked if they would sign my "Vile" and "Eaten Back to LIfe" CD booklets, and every band memeber was kind enough to sign (except for the Alex Webster, one of the axmen for Cannibal Corpse, who was missing in action at the time of the interview). After the signing I went on my merry way. What follows may shock Cannibal Corpse fans, you have been warned. The interview is as follows: More...

Thine Eyes Bleed Added To 3 Canadian Slayer Dates

Canadian thrashers Thine Eyes Bleed have been added to 3 Canadian tour stops on Slayer’s upcoming North American tour in February.

About the upcoming shows, frontman Justin Wolfe comments, “We have also just recently been added to a few Canadian dates with Slayer again in February, one being in our hometown of London Ont. It's going to great to see the guys again. You can never get enough Slayer.” The band recently returned from a month long tour of Europe as part of the Unholy A! lliance Chapter II: Preaching To The Perverted (Slayer, In Flames, Lamb of God, Children Of Bodom). “We just got back from the Unholy Alliance Tour in Europe. The shows were through the roof, the fans were insane, everything you'd expect from European crowds, really,” says the singer. “We were very happy with the response being over there for the first time. We seemed to win the crowd over night after night and making many new fans overseas. The bands, the crews, everyone worked together and made the tour not only a huge success but a really good time! Bring on the thrash!”
