that is a really bold move on their part. the track list above is probably 3/4 of the songs in their entire catalogue. i dont understand, other than from a money grubbing point of view why they would do this. this is why i cannot stand bands like this. "greatest hits".....should be titled "a compilation of our really bad attempt at metal-pop songs"

Greatest hits? Shouldn't they just call this the "least worst of..."
You could count the number of Atreyu songs that have made it to radio on one hand. This release is laughable. The only way to make it more of a joke would be if Atreyu just talked about it and didn't actually release it for over 10 years. Sound familiar?

Geez you people are all stupid! Atreyu is pretty good at what they do! who gives a Fuc K what genre a band is as long as they play original music! In Flames aren't a Death Metal band either but they ROCK! I listen to all kinds of metal and there's good and bad in all the sub genres! Personally I like Cradle of Filth, In Flames and Atreyu...the only real problem is that Record Companies try to milk to SHAT out of every band as soon as they get big!! Like some of you said ...it's all about the money for some people!!

well, i dont really mind metalcore that much, but with so many better music out there why would you listen to it. their hairstyles are really bad too, but that is besides the point.
come clarity is an awesome album. and in flames is melodic death metal, not rock.
but i do agree that they rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh yeah by the way, on post 27 i meant to say that in flames is not rock.
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
...........................ok i'll stop ranting now.

I've never been much of an In Flames fan, even though they're mostly melodic death metal they do have alot of breakdown/coreish riffs. Maybe MDM has just strayed quite alot from what death metal used to be. You listen to a song like "Only For The Weak" and it doesn't bare any resemblence to death metal apart from some of the vocals. Listen to it if you don't believe me.

The only MDM band I really like is At The Gates. I definately agree that Opeth are one of the best bands out there simply for doing something different and original. Arch Enemy are pretty meh for me, I sort of think their songs are a bit obvious. Honestly its probably just because I listen to so much prog/tech metal.

Just checked out the song "The Tremor". Meh. No different to what any of these other bands doing (apart from Lindberg's stellar vocals). Although I give them thumbs up to any MDM fan, they kill modern metalcore bands.
MDM is a whole genre base on one type of riff. Any guitarist out there will know this. You might wonder why they sound very similar, it's simply because of the same minor riffing they use basing everthing around a E-C motive.

wow Cynic that was so impressively technical. now my medicore 2 month old guitar brain is going to have a headache for a month.
seriously though i never knew any of those stuff, but you cant convince me behind space is the same as say........ episode 666.
and screw you thisguy!!!! slayer blows! all they did was infuse thrash metal with hardcore punk intensity and speed with amzing technicality and solos......which is totally awesome but anyone who disses in flames must die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought the song Death Certificate was pretty good but overall I definately prefer Descanting... plus their grind albums more. Certainly paved the way for that new MDM sound though.
I think it's amazing what an impact Carcass had on death/MDM/grind. Venom's probably the only other band who's had such a multiple genre effect.
