Listenable Signs Amaran
Amaran has signed a one-record deal with the option for two more with the French record label Listenable Records. Amaran is a female fronted Stockholm-based melodic metal band formed in 2000. The have only released the promo that got them signed as of yet, and all 4 songs from that promo can be found on their website.
The band has booked Jacob Hansen's Aabenraa Studio in Denmark where they will record their yet unnamed, debut album. This will take place in February 2002 with a scheduled release through Listenable in August/September 2002.
One Minute Silenced
One Minute Silence have been faced with threats to have their official website, www.oneminutesilence.com, shutdown by their web host if they don't censor some of the content it contains. Although the site doesn't offer anything graphically offensive, it does offer political and social commentary from various and often controversial points of view, which have apparently led to various complaints to the host. At present, the band is gearing up to record their new album with Scrap 60 Productions (Dry Kill Logic, Ill NiƱo) at the helm, while a release around spring next year through V2 is being eyed.
The Scorpion King
Godsmack frontman Sully Erna is currently in the midst of assembling the soundtrack for the upcoming movie, "The Scorpion King". At present, he has lined up tracks from Sevendust, Disturbed and Methods Of Mayhem for the outing, while he also hopes to secure songs from Incubus, A Perfect Circle, Metallica, Staind, nine inch nails and the Stone Temple Pilots for it as well. The outing is due out early next year and is also expected to feature a new track from Godsmack themselves.
Marduk Box Set
The Marduk box set, entitled Blackcrowned, is due to be released on Janaury 21st, and it’s limited to 10,000 copies worldwide, according to the group’s official web site. As previously reported, Blackcrowned will contain two CDs with unreleased and hard-to-find material and a video cassette with over an hour of live clips and a booklet with all unpublished lyrics and full biography. The two CDs will be released as limited-edition vinyl versions, 500 copies each on black vinyl and picture disc. To check out the CD and the video covers, go to this location.
Manowar Headline 'Gods Of Metal'
Manowar have been confirmed as the headliners of the Gods Of Metal Festival 2002, which is scheduled to be held in Milan, Italy on Sunday June 9th, 2002.
The Haunted - Limited Edition
THE HAUNTED will be issuing a limited edition version the acclaimed The Haunted Made Me Do It opus, complete with a free bonus live album, sub-titled Live Rounds in Tokyo, on November 27 in the US, and December 10 in Europe. As previously reported, the live album was recorded in front of hordes of fanatical Japanese fans at the Akasaka Blitz Club in Tokyo on November 16th, 2000, and it features 17 tracks, taken from both of the bands albums, including “Undead”, “Bullethole” and “Bury Your Dead”. As a special bonus, an extra studio track, taken from the The Haunted Made Me Do It sessions, called "Eclipse", will also be included.
Impaled Nazarene Shoot Video
Finland’s IMPALED NAZARENE will start shooting a video for the song "Hardboiled And Still Hellbound", off the group’s upcoming Absence Of War Does Not Mean Peace CD, on November 24th with director Jarno Anttila. The clip will feature an appearance by Finnish pornstar Rakel Liekki.
Blasphemer Goes Solo
MAYHEM guitarist Blasphemer (aka Rune Erickson) will enter the studio this December/ January to record his debut solo album, which will be issued through Season Of Mist Records in mid-2002. Blasphemer will reportedly be handling the vocals, guitars and bass on the album, while MAYHEM skinsman Hellhammer will allegedly be sitting behind the drum kit during the aforementioned sessions.

Morbid Angel Confirm Loss
MORBID ANGEL have finally officially confirmed the departure of bassist/vocalist Steve Tucker, who originally left the band in early April due to “personal and family problems” and was subsequently replaced by HATE ETERNAL bassist/vocalist Jared Anderson. According to a statement issued by the band, “[Steve] has decided to pursue other musical and personal interests and is indeed no longer a member of MORBID ANGEL. We wish him all the best and look forward to his future musical endeavours. Any fans wishing to contact Tucker can do so by e-mailing him at hewhosleeps@hotmail.com. Jared Anderson (HATE ETERNAL) will continue to provide bass and vocal duties for the band.”
Marilyn Manson's New Video On MTV
SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison makes a cameo appearance in the MARILYN MANSON video clip for “Tainted Love” (originally recorded by SOFT CELL), which is scheduled to premiere today, November 19th, on MTV, along with the Making Of The Video special. Air times are 8 PM and 11:30 PM EST. The video was shot in Los Angeles and features the cast for Not Another Teen Movie, the soundtrack for which includes the MANSON cover and is due to hit the stores on December 4th through Maverick Records.
