Yahoo Purchases Launch.com

I just received a notice that Launch.com (who provides the customizable online streaming radio service, which we use here) is now owned by Yahoo. The change in ownership is not supposed to affect the service. Likely, it will mean broader licensing of music, in Yahoo's stab at the growing online media market.

Happy Birthday Kirk, 39

I don't plan on making a habbit of posting birthdays for everyone in metal, but Encyclopedia Metallica sent their newsletter out mentioning that Kirk Hammett turned 39 today. First, it made me say "damn," realizing how long these guys (and some of my other fav bands) have been around. Then I saw that they posted a high school pic of Kirk as well. It's well worth a visit.

Nuclear Blast Gets Defaced

Nuclear Blast America has licensed the Swedish band's debut release from Scarlet Records. 'Domination Commence' features drummer Henry Ranta (Soilwork), guitarist Klas Ideberg (Darkane), bassist Jörgen Löfberg Darkane), as well as vocalist Henrik Sjöwall and guitarist Mattias Svensson.
