Suffocation Shares "Perpetual Deception" Single

New York death metal legends Suffocation will unleash their ninth full-length album Hymns "From The Apocrypha" on November 3rd via Nuclear Blast. The follow-up to "...of the Dark Light" (2017) and the first release featuring the new vocalist Ricky Myers, pushes the band to the very edges of extremity and is arguably the group's strongest-sounding, most sonically punishing album yet. Suffocation has achieved death metal perfection.

Check out the second single from the album, titled, "Perpetual Deception." The track revisits the Son of Man (Jesus) and his continuous deceit, a nod to the classic Suffocation track, "Jesus Wept." More...

Cirith Ungol Releases "Looking Glass" Lyric Video

Cult heavy metal icons Cirith Ungol today unveils their latest single, "Looking Glass." The monolithic new track comes by way of the band‘s impending sixth full-length, "Dark Parade," set for release on October 20th via Metal Blade Records. You can check out a lyric video for the song below.

Up-tempo but still moody, latest single “Looking Glass” begins with a shattering mirror and gains steam with trenchant riffs that slither between a multitude of muted chugs. During the understated midsection, the tone turns dusky as the tune reaches its pinnacle, with lengthy, blues-based leads. Rob Garven‘s drums match the shifting mood beat for beat. “It has the quintessential UNGOL slowed down middle section, like ’Join The Legion‘ [from 1991‘s Paradise Lost] and ’War Eternal‘ [from 1986‘s One Foot In Hell],” says Garven. “I spent quite a lot of time getting the drum fill at the beginning of the solo just perfect.”

"Looking Glass" marks the beginning of a conceptual four-song sequence that introduces listeners to "The Dark Parade," a visceral and poignant multi-song presentation that leaves little room for happy endings. "Is it a nightmare tale of self-reflection or just another journey through the cracks in our reality and the curse of broken dreams?" asks vocalist Tim Baker, shedding a little light on the “darkness” within. "It‘s not quite what Lewis Carroll [author of Alice's Adventures In Wonderland, Through The Looking-Glass etc.] had in mind, but an even more bleak and deadly vision. Alice found that her visions were the complete opposite of her dreams, but here they are one and the same. Will waking dispel the nightmares, or are our waking hours just the extension of them? Once we smash the mirror, there is no turning back." More...

Prong Posts "State Of Emergency" Lyric Video

This Friday, October 6, 2023, Prong's new album, "State of Emergency," hits the streets!

To celebrate their eagerly anticipated 13th release, Tommy Victor and the guys have shared a new music video for the album's title track, following up previous acclaimed singles "Breaking Point", "Non Existence" and "The Descent".

With heavy metal perfection, "State of Emergency" shows off this quintessential band's unique blend of thrashy, punky, face ripping rock — emblematic of what the entire record has to offer.

Tommy comments on the track: "The title track 'State of Emergency' is a bit of a classic PRONG style groove metal track but heavier. It features the last lyric written for the album. I wanted a song that summarized some of the other lyrics. One that would direct the cover art as well. What we get is this depiction of the Orwellian, dystopian reality we are facing. It’s all rather dark, threatening and heavy." More...

Wayfarer Debuts "A High Plains Eulogy" Video

On October 27th, Denver, Colorado's Wayfarer will release their fifth full-length, "American Gothic," via Profound Lore (USA)//Century Media Records (EU). For a preview of their unique blend of black metal, gothic country, and Americana, the video for the new single, "A High Plains Eulogy" (directed by Alex Pace//@chainsawjustice), can be seen below.

Shane McCarthy (vocals/guitars) comments as follows:
"‘A High Plains Eulogy’ is one of the more stripped down and somber moments on the record. It's a moody vision of the American frontier, serving a bit as a requiem for an idea that is slipping through one's hands lost to time.

"The video, captured by our longtime collaborator Alex Pace, paints the stark and empty beauty of the Colorado plains, and the Rocky Mountains, where the rock formations of the land serve as its own tombstones. The visuals are a perfect accompaniment to this dark little folksong. It tells of tragedy and sits in the middle of ‘American Gothic’, fully fleshing out the record's more personal facets." More...

Eleine Drops "Blood In Their Eyes" Music Video

Swedish symphonic dark metal act Eleine only knows one direction: The band moves towards the top step by step! Besides releasing two strong records via Atomic Fire Records in recent times (2022's "Acoustic In Hell" + 2023's "We Shall Remain"), the band have performed many shows around the globe with bands such as label mates Sonata Arctica, Kamelot and others, including making their North American live debut alongside Moonspell in spring 2023 which will be followed by an appearance at ProgPower USA next year.

And their next adventure is about to begin: Today, Eleine will play the first of 34 shows as part of the European leg of the "I Am On Tour" with Pain, Ensiferum and Ryujin. And while being on the road almost continuously, the group's line-up has also become more concrete with live guitarist Victor Jonasson joining Eleine as permanent guitarist and thus completing the band as a real quintet.

Vocalist Madeleine Liljestam and guitarist/vocalist Rikard Ekberg state: "Victor has been our live guitarist since late 2021, and we are proud to welcome him as our new permanent guitarist in the band. Victor has proven himself over and over again with great talent and team spirit. We are happy to welcome him to the band!"

Victor adds: "It feels amazing being a permanent member of such a fantastic band like Eleine. After almost 2 years as their live session guitarist, I can safely say there are no better people to play with than these."

It's a historical day that needs to be celebrated musically too, of course. That's why the Swedes have launched a brand new digital 2-track single titled "Blood In Their Eyes." Its title may sound familiar since it belongs to a track that can also be found on Eleine's latest studio offering "We Shall Remain," but as icing on the cake, the band have added a previously unreleased instrumental version of the song. Listen to both tracks and also watch the visualizer video for the single's opener, which was produced by the band's own Rikard and Madeleine alongside MOOB! More...

Hinayana Unveils "Triptych Visions" Video

Austin, Texas based melodic death metal band-to-watch Hinayana recently announced the release of their unmissable upcoming sophomore full-length album, "Shatter And Fall," out November 10, 2023 via Napalm Records. Setting them apart from contemporaries like Insomnium, Amorphis and Swallow the Sun, "Shatter And Fall blends" modern, accessible elements with equal parts melody and menace, emerging as a fresh entry in this year’s most head-turning metal offerings.

Today, following their recent debut of massive first single "Reverse The Code," Hinayana reveals the somber yet spine-tingling second single "Triptych Visions". The track features some of "Shatter And Fall’s" most melancholic and introspective moments, with a grooving introduction, unforgettable chorus and an exemplary solo.

Frontman Casey Hurd says about "Triptych Visions":
"Be it addiction or simply yearning for another life, we can often get lost in our mind’s eye. 'Triptych Visions’ is about one’s own inability to break loose from such a vicious cycle of self-destruction and escapism, regardless of the pain it always ends in. The track showcases an intense and emotional facet of HINAYANA’s new sonic direction." More...

Vocalist Zora Cock comments:
"Some say that there is beauty in darkness... Terrifying visitors, worlds far gone, Gothic romances, bone-chilling legends, sin-eaters, burning hearts frozen in time, songs with a misleading voice, and a truthful whisper. This and so much more for you to discover on ‘A Dark Euphony’. We've had the pleasure of working with producer and musical genius Joost van den Broek, and we gave it our all to write this record and feel that this is our most complete, personal, and mature album to date." Sodom Releases "1982 (Remix)" Music Video

German Thrash Metal legends Sodom has released their new single and video for the song "1982 (Remix)." The song is taken from the upcoming EP "1982" and is also available on all digital platforms.

Frontman Tom Angelripper states: "These days, we‘d probably compose those songs differently and arrange them in a more contemporary style. But we see this EP as a little journey back in time to recapture the atmosphere of the early eighties. For us, it‘s about remembering those wild years. Back then, people hated bands like Motörhead or Venom. But we didn‘t give a shit about their opinion, we wanted to shock and outrage." More...
