Razoreater: "Our Songs Grab You By The Balls"
The chaotic grinding metal masters from Razoreater are just about to drop "Vacuum Of Nihil," and we had the pleasure of streaming the entire insane LP ahead of its official release (if you missed it, check it out now!).
Only days from the LP's official detonation, Stephen Pickles from Razoreater checked in with us to discuss the band's predilection for short and sweet atomic blasts of metal ("It's definitely a conscious decision to make our songs grab you by the balls and be as intense as possible...") and the decision to only release on the vinyl format.
You can pre-order your own copy right here and read the full interview with Stephen below. More...
Rogash Releasing "Malevolence"
Rogash's second album "Malevolence" delivers fast, uncompromising death metal that's due to drop on February 26th via War Anthem Records. The label comments:
"This East German quintet has grown in terms of song structure and heaviness. Sophisticated songwriting, grooving rhythms, varied vocals and excellent artwork (done by Roberto Toderico/Sinister, Asphyx, Pestilence etc.) are pushing 'Malevolence' far over the edge of the band's first album.
"Recorded at Eisensound Studio by Fabian Hildebrandt (Deserted Fear) and mixed & mastered by Dan Swanö. Superb sound, between modern harshness and old school attitude, is guaranteed. Join the Rogan Deathtrip!" More...

Obsidian Kingdom To Play Be Prog! My Friend Fest
Spain’s progressive metal outfit Obsidian Kingdom will play this year's Be Prog! My Friend festival in Barcelona. The fest, which begins on July 1st, sees the band play alongside Opeth, Between The Buried And Me, Steve Wilson, and more.
Obsidian Kingdom's new album, "A Year With No Summer," will be released by Season of Mist worldwide on March 11th. Regarding the new album, the band comments:
"Our sophomore full-length is finally written. We recorded it at Orgone Studios in London with Jaime Gómez Arellano (Paradise Lost, Primordial, Ulver) and it will be out on Season of Mist in 2016. We just wanted you to know that we can hardly wait for you to experience our new songs. We kindly ask you to give a warm welcome to our new, young and talented members: Seerborn Ape Tot on guitars and Om Rex Orale on bass."
To celebrate the album announcement, the band have released a video showcasing a special "Drone Set" performance featuring Brunetto on "BCNmp7. Metal·lúrgies." This clip was recorded at Centre de Cultura Contemporània in Barcelona on June 4th, and can be viewed below.
The band comments: "Aside from our studio production, we combine our 'rock band' aspect with the Obsidian Kingdom Drone Set effort; an ephemeral live project focused on impromptu and sonic experimentation. Through active listening and an exclusively live approach, we amalgamate drone, noise, ambient music and video projections to display a unique and surrounding audiovisual live experience."
The band continues, "In these sessions, which sporadically take place in little venues or art galleries, the performers rethink their connection with their instruments, deepening their sonic possibilities through an unorthodox use, while supported by the heavy application of pedal effects. All of this is organically entwined with the work of a video artist, who arranges and screens video fragments from the other side of the stage, and becomes one more member of our avant-garde jam sessions." Valleys Releases New Music Video
Valleys is set to release debut full-length concept album, "Experiment One: Asylum," on February 12th, 2016.
The album illustrates the main character, Asylum, in his tumultuous fight with multiple personality disorder. Each track depicts Asylum's returning struggle with a different personality.
Last month, Valleys introduced Asylum to the world via the rack "Finding Solace" (still streaming here), which depicted the character's struggle with overcoming his disorder. But how does the story begin?
Today Valleys reveals a new short film/music video for the track "The Death of Me," which details the beginning of Asylum's decent into madness with the tragic death of his wife and unborn child by the hand of a home intruder.
"This track acts like a prequel to the entire story of this record, which is pretty ironic since this is the last song on the album," states guitarist Brandon Scurlark. "The instrumentals follow the rise and fall of Asylum throughout the track. The more melodic parts represent the ups and the good times, where the heavier chaotic parts and as well as the breakdown represent the fall of Asylum and his succumbing to the disease."
Vocalist Jayson Mitchell adds, "We focused the video around the Asylum family and kept the camera away from us in the band. With us staying in the background, it gave the image of us being the different personalities, waiting to take over almost like a foreshadowing or a dream."
The entire video was filmed by Jaiden Frost of Jaiden Frost Presents over the course of just 15 hours. More...

"The storyboard, brainchild of Ilaria, is directed and produced by Fabio Ortu and was shot at the amphitheatre of the Municipality of Mogoro (Oristano)."

Hackneyed Breaking Up
After releasing the "Inhabitants of Carcosa" album last year (streaming in full here), German outfit Hackneyed is officially hanging up its hat. The band comments:
"10 years of Hackneyed, dear fans and supporters! A whole decade! It’s almost 10 years ago since Phil and Tim came up with the idea to start this band. From this moment on, everything was different. We wrote our first tracks, rehearsed them together and played our first live shows. We don’t want to lie, it was a beginning with many ups and downs, but it was all worth it.
"And then in 2008: the big bang! Discovered by Achim Ostertag (thank you so much for everything!), we got our first record deal with gigantic Nuclear Blast, followed by two great albums and uncountable shows all over the world. Two years later, our journey went into different directions and we got the chance to release a third album at Lifeforce Records back in 2011.
"The next great step came in 2015: our very own music label, CoMa Tone Records, and a fourth album that we released ourselves - which makes us extremely proud! Furthermore, we toured all over Europe with idols like Morbid Angel, Kataklysm, Nile or Arch Enemy and played at big festivals like Wacken Open Air, Summer Breeze, With Full Force or Barge To Hell. Jim Breuer And The Regulators Inks Record Deal
Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the worldwide signing of Jim Breuer and the Regulators, Jim Breuer's new hard rock / metal group. As a lifelong fan, Breuer has often incorporated loud music into his comedy stand-up, so it seemed only natural for him to take the next step and start his own band.
Over the past few years, the Jim Breuer band has performed at festivals such as Rock on The Range (with Guns N Roses and Avenged Sevenfold), the Motorboat cruise (with Motorhead and Megadeth), Metallica's Orion Music Festival, Sonisphere in the UK (with Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax), and the headlining stage at Wacken in Germany.
Now, under a new moniker, the group plans to release a debut in spring 2016, with various special guests appearing on the record. Complete details about the album will be revealed soon, but in the meantime, fans can tune into Breuer's "The Metal in Me" podcast for additional news and information right here.
Metal Blade Records Chairman/CEO Brian Slagel comments: "We are super excited to be working with Jim Breuer. His is a comedy legend and this album is something truly special. You will be surprised in a good way when you hear it!"

Frostbite Releasing "Etching Obscurity"
Frostbite will release "Etching Obscurity" via Tmina Records this coming February 5th, 2016. Check out the cover artwork and track listing below.
Active since 2012, Montreal's Frostbite is a collective of diverse musicians who've coalesced their respective and wholly unique influences in an epic and honest pursuit at harnessing the sound of the harsh, frigid, bleak Canadian winter.
Following the recording of the 2013 "Through The Grave" EP, the band traversed many treacherous passes and darkened chasms - obstacles that spelled the end for several weary travellers.
Carrying on, the lone remaining member - founder and multi-instrumentalist, Max Allard - recruited several experienced expeditioners along the way. Together, they stood side-by-side, staring up at the daunting peak of creative progression.
With experience and fortitude as their guide, 2016 sees this band of five at their creative apex - ready to stake the banner of progressive black n’ roll atop its magnificent summit with this debut full-length effort. More...

Resurrection Kings Takes The "Path Of Love"
Resurrection Kings - the new band centered around the talents of former Dio and Giuffria guitar player, Craig Goldy - has premiered the new track "Path of Love" from the upcoming self titled debut album, which is set to drop on January 29th via Fronters Music srl. Pre-orders for the album can be made via Amazon at this location.
The idea of Resurrection Kings started with a set of demos Goldy recorded with singer Chas West, a guy with an unbelievable set of pipes, who has worked with such bands as the Jason Bonham Band, Foreigner, Lynch Mob, Tribe Of Gypsies, and 3 Legged Dogg.
"It all started five years ago when Craig Goldy asked me to write together," says Chas. Out of those demo sessions, the song "Livin’ Out Loud" strongly impressed Frontiers' President, Serafino Perugino. He then asked Craig to build up a project/band around that musical concept. He also suggested Sean McNabb for bass (Lynch Mob, Dokken , Quiet Riot ), while Craig brought in later former Dio band mate Vinny Appice on drums. "Serafino wanted to make an album with famous musicians from the 80’s and I was flabbergasted when he asked me to participate," says Craig Goldy. "We’ve all known each other for a long time and it was a pleasure to work with everyone – my God with Chas, Sean and Vinny that’s a killer line-up!"
Frontiers in-house writer and producer and Voodoo Circle/Silent Force keyboardist Alessandro Del Vecchio (Revolution Saints, Hardline, Rated X) offered his services to the band and wrote (or co-wrote with Goldy) a few tracks to round out the material that was available. "He is a great songwriter, producer, musician and singer," says Goldy. "Some of the demo versions already had vocals and everything else, so all we did was learn the songs and then did them our way. When Sean and Vinny got a hold of these songs they really came alive and gave me automatic inspiration to write and perform on top of what was already written."
The resulting album is an impressive example of classic hard rock with a contemporary production and edge. Think Whitesnake "1987" mixed with Dio’s "Dream Evil," with a touch of classic Led Zeppelin and Rainbow and you will not be far from the end result. This truly is an extremely strong record where the musicians were able to stretch their wings and their numerous fans will be incredibly pleased with the results! More...
