Samothrace Announces New Tour Dates
Seattle, Washington doom band Samothrace is pleased to announce a trek across the pond for a spring tour of the United Kingdom.
The tour will consist of 11 dates between the 27th of April to 8th of May, and includes a date at the highly regarded Desertfest London. Guitarist Brian Spinks had the following to say about the upcoming dates:
"We are very pleased to announce we will be returning to the UK for a tour this upcoming Spring. In addition to our Saturday appearance at Desertfest London 2016, we will be traversing across England and Scotland with some additional shows afterwards possible on Western European soil. More info on them in the coming weeks.
"The few shows we played thru England in 2013 went by in a flash, far too quickly for our speed of life. We are really looking forward to spending more time touring the UK and possibly seeing more sights than just the back of our eyelids, the alley behind the venues and the truck stops for gas...." Berserker III Band Lineup Announced
This March, the Masonic Temple in Detroit, Michigan will play host to the annual Berserker Music Fest.
Now in its third year, the event - a truly DIY affair founded and organized by Child Bite frontman Shawn Knight and wife Veronica - Berskerer III boasts its most devouring lineups to date with the all-ages three-night/three-stage gala.
Appearances will be made by internationally touring acts like Voivod, Ghoul, Conan, Macabre, Cannabis Corpse and Black Tusk as well as a spattering of new and established Michigan-based artists like Acid Witch, Child Bite, Perversion and Shit Life.
Comments Knight, "It's a fucking blast putting this thing together. Veronica and I pick all of the bands and organize the entire weekend. I handle all of the art and a lot of the promotion side too. It's a metric shit ton of work and it's really stressful, but in the end it's all worth it. We're basically just making something that we wish was already had; a bit of the ol' 'if you build it, they will come.' I spent a lot of time at various metal fests last year, either playing them with Child Bite or simply attending them. It's great to see what works, what doesn't, and just in general let it affect how we plan our next event. This is our biggest lineup yet, and our biggest venue, so I can't wait to see how it all turns out!"
Sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon, VGKids, ESP Printing, UHF Records, CJAM 99.1 FM and Woodward Avenue Brewers, Berserker III will take place on March 3rd, 4th, and 5th with a special FREE PreSerker kickoff party slated to take place at Small's (Hamtramck) on Wednesday, March 2nd featuring eight bands on two stages. "Tackling the ills of modern society with a venomous and unrelenting mix of grunge, post-hardcore, thrash and all wrapped up in a punk to the core ethos that creates their own blend of experimental sonic bedlam, they are fast becoming an uncompromising force. Eight Bells Streaming "Touch Me"
Eight Bells today presents "Touch Me," the third new song to be revealed off sophomore album "Landless." Listen in below.
From Portland, Oregon, Eight Bells consists of guitarist/vocalist Melynda Jackson, formerly of SubArachnoid Space, bassist/vocalist Haley Westeiner, and drummer Rae Amitay, also of Immortal Bird.
The trio summons an otherwordly sound – ethereal vocals, soaring guitars, and ghostly ambience evoke '70s prog-rock grandeur and Victorian mystery; blastbeats and screams then bring the music into a modern, blackened realm. "Landless" is coming out via Battleground Records on February 12th, 2016. More...
Gomorrah Announces CD Release Show
Kelowna, BC's leading death metal architects from Gomorrah just announced they will be hosting a CD release show in Vancouver, BC on February 27th at 333 Clark with support from AngelMaker, Wormwitch, Atrous Leviathan and Vermin. Full event details can be found here.
Gomorrah unleashed new album "The Haruspex" on January 15th, 2016 via Test Your Metal Records. Guitarist Bowen Matheson comments on the album:
"Jeff Bryan and I recorded the album at my home here in the Okanagan Valley, and we did the absolute majority of the writing in the pre-production and production stages. So much of the material had existed from several years ago, but was completely overhauled and reworked several times to end up in these tracks.
"We weren't afraid to try things out and work over several revisions, or to take our hands off of a few of the songs that we felt very comfortable with after only the first revision. Jeff wrote the lyrics for the tracks in less than two months, and a lot of them were written and finalized in the vocal tracking stage, in front of the microphone. More...

"The rest of the boys will still be hanging at show tonight with our new record and merch for those who are interested (though will show up a little later). Sorry and thanks for understanding, we hope to see you again soon."

Criminal Reveals Album Details, Streaming New Song
The Anglo-Chilean thrashers from Criminal have announced their new full-length, "Fear Itself," is due out March 11th worldwide via Metal Blade Records. The first single, "Down Driven", can now be heard below, and pre-orders are online at this location.
Criminal comments: "Everyone who's heard the new album agrees that it is our most pissed-off sounding record to date. We didn't try to make it more brutal, but that's the way it came out. We just let the metal flow. I think having Sergio in the band has something to do with it, because, as a long time fan of the band, he told us when certain things seemed unnecessary. In fact, all but one of the songs are under four minutes long. Straight to the point, quick and painful.
"In terms of style, we didn't really plan anything, we just wrote the riffs that came to our minds. So there's a bit of thrash, hardcore and death metal, but also some classic heavy metal. All the stuff that we love put through a blender. And the end result sounds like Criminal. It's hard to define, but I think a long time ago we created our own sound, and every new album ends up sounding like that."
Recorded at Criminal bassist Danny Biggin's HVR Studios in Suffolk, with a "no bullshit" approach to recording, the band purposely avoided the vices of modern metal production such as samples, quantizing and amp simulators.
The striking artwork by renowned Romanian artist Costin Chioreanu (At The Gates, Arch Enemy, Mayhem, etc.) perfectly represents the bleak, dystopian atmosphere of the lyrics, which denounce warmongering, misinformation, exploitation and other ills of modern society. The album's track listing is as follows: More...

Mantar Reveals "Ode To The Flame" Details
Northern Germany's infernal extreme metal duo Mantar has revealed the cover artwork and track list for the band's forthcoming album, "Ode To The Flame."
"Ode To The Flame" will be out on April 15th via Nuclear Blast and the band had this to say about the upcoming release:
"Actually we discussed the possibility of having no cover at all. We kinda liked the idea of boycotting the need of any so called 'art' which bands try to get people's attention with. The theme of the record is so one-dimensional and obvious that we decided to skip artwork and just put the title on the record to make it look more like an old book. A manifest, a challenge. We don't want people to speculate about any meaning. The meaning is clear: kill, destroy, fuck shit up.
"The title 'Ode To The Flame' is chosen in tradition of the debut record, 'Death By Burning' to maintain the cleansing power of fire as the key theme. Fire is able to reset anything and will erase this planet one day from any plague that's been around. Furthermore it's obviously an ode to passion and iron will. 'Ode To The Flame' isn't dramatic, it's drastic. By all means." More...

You'll be able to catch us playing the new tune on our forthcoming European run in April with Leprous and Earthside! We're loving the new track; it's a little different, but still has that distinct Voyager sound. We hope you enjoy it!"
The band is also heading out on the following tour dates with the likes of Leprous, Epica and Earthside in the coming months: More...
Slayer Fan Shuts Down Religious Protestors
While the NAMM show goes on (National Association of Music Merchants), we don't normally cover the event much since its mostly for bands and vendors and not particularly for regular fans.
One Slayer fan managed to shake things up this year though, when he got tired of seeing religious protesters (who apparently think producing music or selling gear is some kind of sin...?) with their ridiculous signs.
Turns out this guy had a banner of his own on him, and decided to get in on the protesting action. See what happens below...
