The Browning Signs With Spinefarm
Woah, apparently The Browning not only still exists, but has now signed a new record deal with Spinefarm. The label comments:

The Kansas City band, centered around mastermind Jonny McBee, released the crushing 'Hypernova' in 2013 and promptly hit the road across the UK, Europe and North America. Blurring the lines between multiple styles of electronic music, metalcore and deathcore, McBee has firmly entrenched The Browning as musical innovators in an ever-expanding cultural crossover scene."
McBee had this to say: "I am really proud of what The Browning has become. It's been a long, hard road. Signing with Spinefarm is a big step in the awesome direction this band is going and I cannot wait for the future. Excited for the world to hear this next album!"

Striker Posts Guitar Lesson Clip
Edmonton, AB metal band Striker is ready to set out on a new adventure with forthcoming album "Stand In The Fire" being released via the group's own Record Breaking Records label on February 5th, 2016.
Today Striker shares an exclusive playthrough lesson for the song "Too Late". Check it out below. Guitarist Tim Brown comments about the lesson:
"In this guitar lesson, I'll teach you how to play our new song 'Too Late' off of our upcoming album 'Stand in the Fire,' due out February 5th, 2016. This song is full of classic 80's metal tricks, like using the push (or syncopation) in your rhythm playing, using broken chords over a changing background riff, and last but not least, all of the epic shred and tapping to melt your fingers on. Though simple on first listen, there are lots of complex parts that can increase the difficulty and challenge that will make this song fun for all levels of guitarist to play." More...

Pain Of Salvation Checks In From The Studio
Pain Of Salvation just issued this announcement about entering the studio to work on a new release:
"And so it’s finally 2016! Welcome to this brand new Pain of Salvation year (which I have decided to name 'Garbo'). We have intentionally been a bit restrictive with feeding you intel on our plans as of lately, but as a late Christmas gift, let us pull you into our secretly very busy world.
"OK, so the lid finally comes off – we are actually in the studio right now, almost two weeks into the full-blown recording of our brand new album. And not in just any studio, with just any producer.
"We are in the Dugout studio with awesome producer Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames etc), who was our hand picked top choice for recording this album, and was equally thrilled about getting a chance to work with us. We will keep posting thoughts, pictures and updates on this during the coming weeks, to keep you in the loop. You are, after all, our beloved extended family.
"And hey, as if that’s not enough, we just recently joined forces with Glassville Music for management and booking, and we are planning for at least two releases this year, and some nice touring (yes, we know you want us to 'come to Brazil!'). 'Garbo' is here, my friends – and it seems like she might just be the most exciting year ever." More...
Tiny Knives Releasing "Black Haze"

Fixtures of the Portland underground scene for the last six years, Tiny Knives combines anarcho-punk with frenzied rock 'n' roll and douses it in avant metallic madness. See-sawing between full-speed-ahead riffage and heavy emotional bulldozing, sprinkled with startling prettiness, the trio coheres these stylistic shifts into a sound that rings familiar bells while resolutely being their own thing.
Tiny Knives will kick the shit out of some home turf with a record release show for "Black Haze" taking place this Saturday, January 16th, joined by Hooded Hags, Tig Bitty, and Rabbits. Additional tour dates will be spat forth shortly. More...

Nico Elgstrand (guitar/backing vocals) comments the creation of "Dead Dawn" as follows: "I think it is safe to say that all of us in the band feel like we just have given birth to one tank each. Meaning the pregnancy and delivery was everything but pleasant! Still, when watching our newest offspring play with their cannons and bombs, blasting everything around them to bits, we feel, just like any parent, pride and joy and wouldn't have it undone for all the money in the world!"
The album is rounded off by a striking cover artwork created by Watain-frontman Erik Danielsson, and backed up by a versatile production team consisting of Tom Van Heesch and Jacob Hellner of Big Island Sound as well as Nico Elgstrand himself.
