Epica Announces New Album "Aspiral"

Symphonic metal titans Epica are excited to announce that their 9th studio album "Aspiral" will be out on April 11th, via Nuclear Blast Records. The album title is derived from the eponymous bronze sculpture made by Polish sculptor and painter Stanislaw Szukalski back in 1965 and stands for renewal and inspiration – keywords that define Epica in 2025. In Szukalski’s work every detail is a piece of art in its own right, and there’s always more to the story than you initially think. The band saw this as the perfect analogy for the creation of this 9th album: each song stands on its own with a distinctive vibe and meaning, while together they enforce each other into a monumental effort.

The album, featuring stunning cover artwork by Hedi Xandt (Rammstein, Ghost, Parkway Drive), is now available for pre-order in the below mentioned formats. The special editions even include the BluRay and audio recordings of the full monumental "Symphonic Synergy" performance in Amsterdam that the band recorded in 2024 with an orchestra and choir.

If you want to get another appetizer of the new tracks, you can check out the band’s new music video for the up-tempo anthem "Cross The Divide," directed by Kunststoff below.

Recorded once again at Sandlane Studios and expertly mixed and produced by Joost van den Broek, "Aspiral" boasts 11 new tracks:

1. Cross the Divide
2. Arcana
3. Darkness Dies in Light - A New Age Dawns Part VII -
4. Obsidian Heart
5. Fight to Survive - The Overview Effect -
6. Metanoia - A New Age Dawns Part VIII -
7. T.I.M.E.
8. Apparition
9. Eye of the Storm
10. The Grand Saga of Existence - A New Age Dawns Part IX -
11. Aspiral More...

Epica Debuts New Music Video "Arcana"

Hidden wisdom, long-lost secrets, and esoteric knowledge—with "Arcana," the frontrunners of symphonic metal, Epica, heralds a new chapter in their two-decade-long band history. This is the band’s first new release since their chart-topping album "Omega" and their collaboration EP "The Alchemy Project." It offers a glimpse into the band’s future music, coming in 2025.

"'Arcana' guides you through the universal stages of spiritual evolution in life. It leads the way to a higher consciousness and spiritual self-awareness," the band comments. "Writing this song was a spontaneous effort, so it came together quickly, which felt so natural that it wrote itself. The music contains classic Epica elements but has some vibes that might remind you of 80s alternative rock or modern metal."

The single is now available on all streaming platforms. It also includes "The Ghost In Me," a special collaboration with the Netherlands’ most popular theme park, de "Efteling."

The music video, directed by Remko Tielemans, can be seen below. More...

Epica Releases "The Ghost In Me" Music Video

Dare to dance with the dead! Dutch symphonic metal titans Epica have unleashed their eeriest creation yet, the spine-chilling music video for "The Ghost in Me (Danse Macabre)," a haunting track that lures listeners into a world where shadows dance and the afterlife whispers. This song is a unique collaboration with Europe’s second-most visited theme park, Netherlands’s magical De Efteling, and their much-anticipated new attraction, Danse Macabre.

Drenched in ghostly imagery, the video mirrors the unsettling thrill of De Efteling’s new ride, which opens its gates on October 31st, right in time for this Halloween season. Ever since their childhood, every member of Epica has loved this theme park that welcomes over 5 million visitors per year. Therefore, this collaboration was a true match made in the otherworld.

Submerge yourself now in the music video which was filmed right inside and in front of the new attraction - and as if this wasn’t already exciting enough, the band even received their very own “Epica gravestone” that you can spot, if you look closely.

Epica's keyboard player, Coen Janssen, comments:
"Every kid in the Netherlands knows how magical ‘de Efteling’ is, and working this closely with the most beautiful theme park in the world surely is a dream come true! As a young boy, I immediately got captivated by the 'Danse Macabre' by Saint-Saëns as a soundtrack for their haunted house “Spookslot”. So when ‘de Efteling’ announced their new plans for the ghostly attraction “Danse Macabre” all pieces of the puzzle fell into place immediately: Why not combine our symphonic side with the ’scary’ side of metal and do our version of this epic classical piece?!? We are so happy that ‘de Efteling’ trusted our vision and gave their full support, providing us with the new ride's storyline, so we could write lyrics fitting the fantastic narrative and even adding a new chapter!"
