Epica has announced a co-headlining tour of Europe with Switzerland's Eluveitie this fall. In support is modern metal masters Scar Symmetry.
Guitar player Isaac Delahaye says the following about the tour: "Oh boy, I'm super stoked for this! What better way to end our The Quantum Enigma world tour than to team up with a band who's – just like us – mixing 2 different genres into something special; a great metal band with a catchy folk topping. Yummie! Add some delicious riffing from our favourite Swedes, and you can expect a lot of coolio and 3 bands on top of their game. You wanna hear an orchestra? You wanna see a fiddler? You wanna steal tasty soloing ideas? Or do you just wanna have a great metal night in the pit? We've got it all."
Epica is supporting its latest album "The Quantum Enigma" (see review here), Eluveitie is still supporting its latest "Origins" (see review here) and Scar Symmetry is supporting "The Singularity (Phase I: Neohumanity)" (see review here).

Epica has checked in with the following year-end recap message to fans:
"Oh what a year it's been! 2014 is coming to an end and there seems so much to look back upon. Let me take you through a couple of highlights...
"While we were wrapping up the recording of what would be our new album, we raised over €2000 for the good cause at the beginning of this year. In these times it's great to see that people still want to make the world a better place and care for the underprivileged.
"We released 'The Quantum Enigma' in May 2014. During the sold out release show we integrally played our 6th studio album, and did some. We also played some exclusive acoustic sessions for a select audience. Good fun and a great way to get closer to our die-hard fans! Breaking our old chart records, we knew that 'The Quantum Enigma' would become what we aimed for: a revised Epica, a fresh start, a new chapter in the history of the band.
"During the festival season we saw how the new songs turned many metalheads into Epica fans and how we -as a band- stormed those stages with passion and dedication. All of us were so happy with the new album, and more than ever before we wanted 'our voice' to be heard.
"We were ready to go back to our beloved club shows and play for our fans worldwide again. So there we went, on a plane to Latin America, to pay a visit to some of our most dedicated fan bases we have in the entire world. And yep, they were loud, they were numerous, they banged their heads from the first second till the last! More people came to see us, lots of younger fans, new faces, and familiar faces. Things that put smiles on our faces.
"A little bummed about the cancellation of the North American support tour we were about to start, we returned home, charged the batteries, released the video for 'Victims of Contingency' and went on our most successful European tour we've ever done. Sold out shows, wild crowds, anything we could wish for really!
"So here we are now, enumerating the things that made 2014 memorable. Trying to put into words how blessed we feel, how great it is to be able to do what we do. More...

The video was directed by Remko Tielemans (Textures) and produced by the Kunstoff Kollectiv. Epica guitar player Mark Jansen states about the clip:
"We've picked a heavy and brutal track this time as we wanted to surprise everybody. As 'Victims of Contingency' is also a fan-favourite, we are convinced that it is the right choice. The video for 'Storm the Sorrow' has been received very well by the fans so we were very happy to work with Remko and his team again. Machine Head has issued the following announcement about canceling upcoming tour dates that were to feature Epica and Children of Bodom:
"It is with great disappointment that Machine Head must announce the postponement of our North American tour this fall.
"Our new album 'Bloodstone & Diamonds' has taken longer to complete than expected and we had to make the difficult choice to either delay the album, let it go out as incomplete, or cancel the tour in order to properly finish and promote the album in the caliber it needs to be done. We decided postponing the tour was the best decision for the record.
"We feel this record is a milestone, we feel we have something truly special here, but getting there has been a challenge. Our vocalist / guitarist Robb Flynn just returned from a press tour where he was playing rough mixes and incomplete versions of songs for the press just to try and keep everything on time for our November release date."
Refunds will be available for tickets at point of purchase. Look out for rescheduled American tour dates for the beginning of the year. All scheduled European tour dates will remain as scheduled.
Machine Head will release 8th album “Bloodstone & Diamonds” (and first for Nuclear Blast Entertainment) on November 10th.
Epica also comments: "We are really disappointed to inform you that our upcoming North American Tour in support of Machine Head has been cancelled. We were very much looking forward to play North America and to meet our US and Canadian fans again. Needless to say, this is a real blow for us. We hope to be able to return to North America as soon as possible!" More...
Machine Head will continue dominating North America with the announcement of a 21-show U.S. and Canadian trek in support of the band's debut studio album for Nuclear Blast Entertainment, due out this Fall.
The devastating lineup will also feature Children of Bodom, Epica, and Battlecross. The tour launches on October 4th in Denver, Colorado and includes five Canadian cities before closing out in Hollywood, California on November 1st.
Machine Head front man & guitarist Robb Flynn checks in about the touring line-up and the upcoming shows:
"Machine Head raised the bar with concert production for 2012 ‘s 'Locust' tour, and now we plan to raise the bar again with our biggest US show yet, and the strongest line-up out there for 2014, PERIOD!!
"This is a MUST SEE event for any heavy metal fan in America! I am stoked that we were able to join up with our friends in Children Of Bodom, one of the premier power metal bands of our time, and our friends in Battlecross, who we toured with on Mayhem last year, and are going to bring the old-school thrash vibe. Epica’s symphonic metal will add a touch of much needed class to the drunken shenanigans that will surely take place on this raucous tour. Come out and be a part of history ladies and gentlemen!"
Children Of Bodom's Alexi Laiho adds: “We’ve rolled with Machine Head quite a few times in the past. My best memories are kick azz shows, parties, camaraderie and vocal coaching from Robb Flynn way back in 2008, so I think we’ll have a good time tearing it up all over North America! Not a bad way to end the long and non stop tour cycle for 'Halo Of Blood!'"
“With this killer line-up, this tour is bound to be a great success,” states Epica vocalist Simone Simons. “We will bring Epica to a whole new level and I can't wait to play the new songs along with the old material overseas.”
Epica founding member Mark Jansen shares: “Machine Head and Children of Bodom are bands I listened to as teenager, so it's really amazing to be on this tour with Epica." More...
