Exodus Vocalist Rob Dukes Checks In
Exodus vocalist Rob Dukes has checked in from Europe with the following message:
"Wacken 2008... I came from behind the curtain to see before me 75,000 people with their hands in the air. And screaming. It was fucking surreal. I was overwhelmed by the whole experience. Honestly, I don't remember much of anything in particular except seeing 5 to 10,000 people going into the pit and killing each other almost made me forget to sing; it was crazy.
"Three years ago I was just a guitar tech, not even trying to be in a band. I was happy surfing and just living. Now my life is just crazy, making records and touring the world and getting to play shows like Wacken. I truly am grateful for that has befallen on me, good and bad.
"I'm in Spain right now playing a festival with OVERKILL and CRADLE OF FILTH and looking forward to killing this crowd tonight. I just spent two days on the beach in Spain and I feel completely rejuvenated.
"Thanks to all the fans that make all the noise and a special thanks to all the crazy fuckers in the pits around the world."

The Living Fields Signs To Candlelight Records
Candlelight Records has confirmed the signing of multi-national progressive doom-death outfit The Living Fields. The trio, with members based in Chicago, London and Ottawa, has received early acclaim via their self-released 2004 and 2007 recordings. Now working on their Candlelight debut, currently titled "Running Out of Daylight" and planned for release in early 2009, the band looks to take the next step in their still developing career.
“Candlelight has been very successful working with bands that defy convention,” says guitarist Jason Muxlow regarding the band’s choice of label. “Their discography is filled with milestones. Their legacy undoubtedly speaks for itself and we're thrilled to be part of their future.”
Originally formed in 2002 by Muxlow, The Living Fields have had their sound likened to that of My Dying Bride, November’s Doom and others. But with a twist. Together with vocalist Jon Higgs (also of Monsterworks) and drummer Chad Walls (Brodequin, Enter Self), Muxlow and The Living Fields explore a wide range of sounds and styles utilizing a palette of guitar, drums, bass, strings, piano, and spine-chilling vocals.
The Living Fields are the latest to join London-based Candlelight’s growing US roster. The label is distributed exclusively in the United States via Caroline/EMI, PHD Canada for the northern country and Plastichead Music for Europe.

Xystus Announces "Equilibrio" Release Date
Sensory Records has announced the upcoming release of Dutch progressive metal band Xystus’ third album, "Equilibrio." This rock opera was recorded with a 60 piece orchestra and a 30 member choir, and includes guest performances from Simone Simmons of Epica and George Oosthoek of Orphanage. With an influx of gothic, progressive and traditional heavy metal influences melding with this dramatic orchestration, fans of Epica, Ayreon and Kamelot should keep both eyes peeled for this release to strike. "Equilibrio" is set for a North American release date of September 30.
Conceived as both an actual stage production and studio recording, "Equilibrio" was performed to four sold out audiences in July, 2008 - over 4,000 people witnessed the opera.
The studio recording of "Equilibrio" features key scenes from the opera. In addition to the 60 piece US Concert orchestra and 30 member choir, Xystus enlisted vocal performances from Simone Simons (Epica), George Osthoek (Orphanage, Delain) and Dutch theater veterans Michelle Splietelhof and John Vooijs.
The story of Equilibrio revolves around a wanderer named Diegu (Bas Dolmans) who finds himself caught between the forces of good and evil the power mad ruler Primos (John Vooijs) and the altruistic rebel Avelin (Michelle Splietelhof). Primos makes a pact with Death (George Osthoek) take over the world. After unsuccessful efforts by Diegu to mediate between Avelin and Primos, the latter ends up with complete power and the world is thrown out of balance. Diegu is summoned by the godess Lady Sophia (Simone Simons). She watches over Earth and entrusts Diegu with the job reuniting Primos and Avelin in order to restore the balance between good and evil again.
