I thought the song was all over the place. It didn't seem to flow at all and was like 3 or 4 songs pieced together. I am afraid of what the new album will be if this is the song they chose to debut. The crowd didnt seem to react much to the new tune. The Met standards were kick ass.

Scott B, I can't access youtube right now so I can't hear for myself. But go back and listen to old Metallica.. All their old sh** was 8:00 long and they always changed speeds and riffs. Most songs these days contain one hook while their's would contain 2 or 3.
As far as the upcoming Metallica Album... The days of the guitar hero have been dead for close to 2 decades. Only a few have bucked the trend. Metallica, Pantera and Zakk Wylde were the only ones. Unfortunately Metallica's efforts since AJFA have been mixed. With their last effort sucking ass. Hopefully they return their roots. Dimebag is gone (R.I.P.) and Zakk can't do it all by himself.

f***ing hatebreed bass line....same pentatonic solos kirk has been playing for 20 years, only with sh**ty effects masking them, but heh, at least the solos are there....james voice is pathetic, lyrics are st. angerish....overall, these f***ers just cant get load out of their damn systems.
not all was bad though, there were some cool riffs and harmonies in there. i liked the ending, but the song does sound thrown together without much direction. more like taking the first riffs they came up with and forcing them to fit together rather than throwing out the lame riffs that dont work and writing some that fit a lot better musically. of course, this is only one song and probably the single if its the one they debuted.
overall, i didnt like the song. i will not compare anything they release from this album to st. anger, because i dont think its possible for metallica to suck that much twice. but judging by this song, this was the type of album they had in mind when writing st. anger.

I have to agree with a majority of these comments and say that the new album is going to be fan f***ing tastic! I'm solely basing this off of the "fly on the wall" videos available on missionmetallica.com. Hearing the riffs, Rob's contribution, and the overall sound should help regain lost confidence. The only thing that is going to hold back this album, in my opinion, is Jamez' vocals.
Sad...but true.

I was there.
New song was OK. Reminded me of a cross between something from AJFA, The Black Album and Load. I need a few more listens (like a lot of stuff from AJFA...here's hoping).
On the whole, they killed it...awesome set list, sounded great. Ozzy was excellent as well, the best show I've seen him put on. He played "Fire in the sky" too.
Jonathan Davis and Serj f***ing sucked.
HellYeah was eh (not a fan anyways) but I did enjoy the tribute to Dime.
Cav Consipiracy KILLED. Shadows fall was pretty good. In this moment sucks. Rigor Mortis and Goatwhore killed.
And it was hot as f***. :P
