Randy Rhoads Gets Star On Walk of Fame
The late Randy Rhoads will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Rock Walk of Fame on March 18th, 2004. This date is one day before the 22nd anniversary of Randy's tragic death. The induction ceremony will be held at the Guitar Center Of Hollywood on Sunset Blvd.
Biohazard + Kittie = Rodek
BIOHAZARD guitarist/vocalist Billy Graziadei and KITTIE bassist Jennifer Arroyo have joined forces in a brand-new band called RODEK.
The five-piece group, which is completed by Karl Bernholtz (vocals, THE GROOVENICS), AJ Marchetta (guitars) and Dan Lamagna (drums), finished recording several demo tracks at UndergroundSound studios in South Amboy, New Jersey (owned by Graziadei and BIOHAZARD drummer Danny Schuler).
Among the tracks recorded during the group's earliest sessions are "Marching Backwards", "Not My Year", "Diemonds", "Stop Receiving" and "Undone". RODEK's more recent material, which is currently being completed, features a "heavier" direction, which "we will continue to move in," Graziadei told BLABBERMOUTH.NET. Illdisposed To Record In February
Denmark's ILLDISPOSED will enter the studio in February 2004 to begin recording their new album, tentatively due this summer through an as-yet-undetermined label.
In other news, negotiations are in progress with several summer festivals in Denmark, Germany and Austria. So far, a headlining appearance at the Aarhus Fee Metal festival in Aarhus, Denmark has been confirmed, as has a headlining slot at the Fuck The Commerce Open Air festival in Neiden, Germany. Additional dates will be announced soon.
Also on the ILLDISPOSED front, guitarist Lasse Bak was recently arrested at a soccer match in Aarhus, Denmark. He was charged for "drunk and offensive behavior" and received a fine for "throwing a ½-litre tankard containing urine at a superintendent of Aarhus Police".
Stratovarius Guitarist Says New Singer Is Female
According to the STRATOVARIUS fan site www.truemetal.org/stratovarius, "Klaus Flaming, the host of the weekly Finnish metal radio show 'Metalliliitto' had a brief chat with [STRATOVARIUS mainman] Timo Tolkki at the afterparty of Sirkkelirock, the Finnish metal awards [on Saturday, January 3]. [During the conversation] Timo mentioned that the new [STRATOVARIUS] vocalist is a good-looking and talented FEMALE. Interesting... I'd however take the comment with a grain of salt as it sounded as if Timo was a bit drunk while making it."
Vader Writing New Material, Panzer X Recording
Vocalist/frontman Peter of VADER is currently writing new songs for a "Revelations" successor. Two titles to appear on the album are "Out Of A Deep" and "Lead Us!" Peter's side - project, PANZER X, is in the middle of recording process of band's promo CD. It will feature 4 songs plus 2 cover songs and something extra.
Download Bootleg MP3s of Nirvana's First Gig
A bootleg of NIRVANA's first gig ever has been posted online for download. The nine song recording was made at a house party at 17 Nussbaum Road in Raymond, Washington, in March 1987. You can download all seven tracks from http://www.nirvanaclub.com/xmas2/.

Epitaph Records Converges On a Deal
Metalcore heavyweights CONVERGE have signed a deal with Epitaph Records. Here's the press release from the label:

Hyperborea And Avatar To Play Romania
HYPERBOREA will play in Romania on January, supported by Avatar. The show is support by all metal medias + MTV Romania.
The band HYPERBOREA finish the recording of their album "Architecture Of Mind". The album include 8 songs in Hypocrisy vein with very hard sound. On this moment the band mastered this album. The official date release will be published very soon, plus one promotional song.
Lowtwelve Headlining Indiana Metalfest
Long time midwest metal ripmasters of the band LOWTWELVE are headlining the metalfest in Indiana with Rob Zombie and MOD on the 1st of May. Their recent show with ILL NINO and their Metal Maniacs mag debut have put them on the map.Their vocalist / bassist, Pete Alteri, is the founder of the HEAVYCORE organization (www.Heavycore.net / Heavycore.org).

First Gaelic Metal Band, Armachdan Leir-Sgriosail
Murdo MacLeod of Scotsman.com is reporting that two Gaelic-speaking metalheads are organizing the first ever Gaelic-speaking heavy metal band, which will play a mixture of their own compositions and top metal hits, translated into Scotland's oldest living language.

Finnish Metal Music Awards 2003 Results

The Haunted Discuss New Album

Kamelot Mexican Tour Dates Cancelled
KAMELOT's previously announced dates in Monterrey and Guadalajara have been cancelled by their Mexican promoter, Ekosysmusik. No reason was given for the cancellation. The group's EpicaFest date in Mexico City will go ahead as planned on February 14, with five support bands also on the bill, including Californian metallers CAGE.
As previously reported, KAMELOT are currently writing material for the follow-up to last year's "Epica", tentatively due this summer through SPV Records. Among the songtitles set to appear on the CD are "March of Mephisto", "Nothing Ever Dies" and "Serenade".
