The Crown Parts Ways With Bass Player
Swedish death metal veterans The Crown has announced that the group has parted company with bassist and founding member Magnus Olsfelt after thirty two years. A statement from the band reads as follows:
"Hello Viking Punks!!
"We are very sorry to inform you that our bass player, one of the founding members of The Crown, Magnus Olsfelt has decided to leave the band. After 32 years we go separate ways. We are very sad about this, he has always put in 110 % and has written tons of memorable songs and he will be missed.
"But this will definitely not be the end of The Crown. This will mark the first step writing a new chapter and we are extremely determined and focused to continue our journey.
"We are already deep into writing the follow up to Royal Destroyer and we feel that we definitely have some new Death Metal magic coming up!!
"The process of finding a replacement will start soon. The Crown never dies!!"
Bassist Magnus Olsfelt also issued a statement:
"The Crown has been a part of my life since I was 14 years old, it’s had its highs and its lows and it has overall been a damn good race, but for me this is over now. I just don’t have the heart and inner drive to keep on doing this anymore, and that leaves me with no other alternative than to leave the band. I am grateful for all the people who have supported us in any way over the years and I hope that the band can keep on doing good in the future.
Goodbye and thanks for all the memories!"

Redshark Unveils New Lyric Video
"The Death Rides" is the first digital single / video taken from heavy speed metal merchants Redshark´s forthcoming debut album, "Digital Race." The lyrical theme is inspired by death and the emotional ride that leads people to choose euthanasia.
This song is dedicated in the memory of a Spanish writer called Ramón Sampedro.
Redshark was founded in 2012 in Barcelona, Spain by Philip Graves (guitar) with the aim of delivering classic pounding heavy speed metal. Their traditional 80s metal influences may plunder the nostalgia circuit but Redshark are ruthlessly carrying the torch with great attitude, and powerful melodic songwriting.
Redshark have since honed their gloriously raw yet precisely incisive, dark, catchy and addictive speed heavy metal crunch staying faithful to their original influences taken from undisputed metal legends like Judas Priest, Savatage, Exciter and Metal Church.
Their new album, "Digital Race," was recorded in 2021 and will see a release at the end of March. It was produced by Jaume Perna (Jack Dark) and mixed & mastered by Gonzalo Vivero in In The Red Audio. Cover art was made by Jose Antonio Vives. More...
Die Apokalyptischen Reiter Announces New Album
Germany’s most spectacular band is Weimar’s Die Apokalyptischen Reiter. The band whose name translates as “Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse”, has proven to deliver a unique brand of melodic heaviness, accompanied by unique, intense lyrics. Since forming back in 1995, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter has remained innovative and courageous, delivering a form of extreme metal that is second to none. In the artistic realm of the Weimar-based quartet, there are no rules - anarchy, a free flow of ideas and visions reign supreme.
With a highly supportive and engaged following at their side, they achieved #10 in Germany’s official charts with their album Der Rote Reiter. The band has played every major metal festival and countless fans have succumbed to "Reitermania" – which is the wild and crazy experience that only Die Apokalyptischen Reiter can provide.
Now, the band is getting ready to release "Wilde Kinder" (=“Wild Children”), their new album due out on April 22, 2022 - the official successor to "Der Rote Reiter" (2017).
In addition to this big announcement, the band have also released a music video for the title track of the album, "Wilde Kinder."
Entirely self-recorded, and mixed and mastered by Eike Freese (Chameleon Studios, Hamburg; who worked for bands like Helloween, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper), Die Apokalyptischen Reiter celebrate a stunning return after their completely improvised Jam Session record "The Divine Horsemen" (2021), and attack with Volle Kraft! (= full power!). More...
Aenimus Releases New Visualizer Video
Today, Aenimus are proud to release a music video for their new single "The Climb," which kicks off a new chapter for the band. Check out the visualizer for "The Climb" below.
Aenimus comments:
"It is with great excitement that we bring you our newest single 'The Climb'. It is the start of Aenimus’ next chapter as a band with bassist Seth Stone stepping into a new role as lead vocalist. It is also our first song featuring the extreme talents of guitarist Greg Paulson. We’d also like to take this moment to introduce you all to Brian Gosling of Grimzee and As The Structure Fails, who played a large role in the writing and production for 'The Climb' and moving forward will be playing guitar with Aenimus.
"As you are likely aware at this point Alex Green, Cody Pulliam, and Jordan Rush are no longer members of Aenimus. Without getting into too many details, the last two years have been extremely difficult for all of us. When the pandemic put a swift stop to live music, life kept going and it led to a lot of tough decisions to be made for everyone as individuals and for Aenimus as a whole. These decisions, though not easy, led us to part ways with the three members. We will cherish the time spent writing and performing Dreamcatcher with them all over the world and we are so proud to have shared these moments with such fine musicians. Even though Alex and Cody are no longer a part of Aenimus, Dreamcatcher is not the last you will hear of them. Alex and Cody helped tremendously with the lyrics, vocal patterns, and drums for 'The Climb' and the music for our upcoming releases. We are thankful to have their blessing to release these songs we wrote with them.
"We have a lot in store for you all this year including more new music and an awesome tour announcement. Thank you all for sticking with us and supporting us for the last 10 years as a band. We are so excited for this new beginning for Aenimus and are ready to start the climb.” More...
Amoth Shares "Alice" Music Video
The Lycans are howling out loud today with release of Finnish metallers Amoth's new album "The Hour of The Wolf" via Rockshots Records.
The band's roots are strongly founded on 80’s heavy metal, but branch out in different directions with elements from progressive rock, thrash, and even jazz brought to the table. “The Hour Of The Wolf” is the band's third studio album to follow to their previous recordings “Revenge” (2016), “Crossing Over” (2011), “Wounded Faith (EP) (2008).
This third full-length features Pekka Montin of Ensiferum once again as the lead vocalist and for the first time, there are also keyboards on an Amoth recording. Fans can expect insane vocals and virtuoso-like playing from all members of the band. The nine songs are very diverse, taking sudden twists and turns into unexplored territory. Amoth even offers up two Steve Vai / Joe Satriani-style instrumentals on this new full-length with tracks “Wind Serenade Part I” and “Wind Serenade Part II”.
“This is by far our best album yet! Superior performances from all of the musicians. Much better production and songwriting. It’s not a fast-food album. Some of the songs are quite complex so it takes probably more than one listen to really get into!” comments Amoth guitarist and main songwriter Tomi Ihanamäki.
Today, in celebration of the album's release, Amoth is sharing their latest music video for the record's opening track "Alice".
"The verse riff of this song was shown to me by Alice Cooper in my dream! I woke up and immediately wrote the riff down. That’s where the name of this song comes from, so thanks Alice! There are two main characters in this song: a stripper and her pimp. The lyrics are almost like a dialogue between those two. Very catchy and ”easy to get into” song with strong and memorable melodies. I knew this song needed an 80’s style chorus so that’s what it has." adds guitarist Tomi Ihanamäki. More...
