Kamelot Announces New Album "Dark Asylum"

International symphonic metal legends Kamelot—renowned for their infectious melodies, cinematic storytelling, and electrifying live performances—return with their haunting new album "Dark Asylum," arriving August 28, 2026 via Napalm Records. Now 14 albums deep into a genre-defining career—including "Haven" (#1 Billboard Hard Rock), "The Shadow Theory" (#2 Billboard Hard Rock, #1 Amazon Hard Rock & Metal), and most recently "The Awakening" (#2 Billboard Hard Rock and Top 10 on the German charts)—the band continues to stand as a commanding force in modern metal after more than three decades.

Set within a shadowed Neo Victorian-era world, "Dark Asylum" invites listeners beyond the gates of RavenHill Asylum—an imposing institution once built as a grand cathedral, now repurposed into a place where science, faith, and madness uneasily coexist.

Kamelot founder and guitarist Thomas Youngblood about the record:
“'Dark Asylum' follows a soul trapped inside a world of masks, fractured memories, and psychological torment, wandering the endless halls of RavenHill in search of truth, identity, and redemption. What begins as a descent into darkness gradually transforms into a journey of awakening, where beneath the fear, illusion, and chaos lies the possibility of healing, hope, and ultimately a path out of the shadows into Sanctuary. The album explores the duality between despair and salvation, blurring the lines between reality and madness through theatrical storytelling, haunting atmospheres, and deeply emotional themes."

Frontman Tommy Karevik adds:
"'Dark Asylum' invites listeners into the hidden chambers of the human mind. A journey where every door reveals a different story, yet all remain deeply connected. At its core, the album explores the duality of human nature: the constant tension between fear and hope, chaos and stillness, destruction and healing. Dark Asylum reflects the struggle to remain sane within a cold and barren world, while ultimately discovering that salvation is not something found externally, but something that already exists within us all. Through self-exploration, awareness, and inner peace, healing becomes possible. This concept opened the door to a more cinematic and haunting sonic landscape, allowing us to experiment with darker, more eerie musical themes." More...

70,000Tons Of Metal Announces Destination Change

70000TONS OF METAL, The Original, The World’s Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise, has announced a change in the destination for its 2026 voyage. The upcoming edition of the festival at sea, taking place from January 29 to February 2, 2026, will now sail from Miami, Florida to Nassau, the Bahamas aboard Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas.

Originally planned to return to Labadee, Haiti, the decision to reroute the journey was made out of an abundance of caution and with the well-being of all Sailors, artists, and crew as the top priority.

"While Labadee has been a great port of call on past sailings, we are closely monitoring the evolving situation in Haiti and its surrounding regions," said Andy Piller, Skipper of 70000TONS OF METAL. "Ensuring the safety and comfort of our Survivors is non-negotiable. With that in mind, we’ve made the proactive decision to change course for 2026. Nassau provides a welcoming alternative that allows us to maintain the world-class experience our Sailors expect — both on board and ashore." More...

Kamelot Claims London With An All Star Lineup

Those of you who have been keeping up with our reviews section will know that it's been a great year for power metal. We've seen legendary names like Firewind and Rhapsody Of Fire release excellent albums, while rising stars like Dragony and Wind Rose have also had strong showings. It's wonderful to see the genre do so well and what better way to celebrate than by attending the first of several incredible lineups to reach the UK in November, as one of America's premier power metal bands Kamelot visited with Ad Infinitum, Blackbriar and Frozen Crown in tow. Taking place at the Kentish Town Forum, a beautiful venue that's hosted several metal stars in the past, the setting was perfect for four bands all looking to dominate.

Shortly after the doors opened and fans rushed to the front of the stage, Italian sextet Frozen Crown made their grand entrance. For those unfamiliar, Frozen Crown has only been around for seven years but from day one, they've worked their asses off to establish themselves as a name on everyone's lips. It was a good time to see them, as only a few weeks ago, they unleashed their fifth full length album, "War Hearts," so one would be curious to find out which songs would be performed live.

As it turns out, only "Steel And Gold" would be chosen to represent the record, but given the time constraints and it being their London debut, it was fair for them to showcase tracks from each album so as not to disappoint fans in the British capital. They performed with tremendous energy from start to finish and clearly had a blast doing it, which is always infectious to the audience, who couldn't get enough of the metal frenzy before them. It's a shame that the set was over almost as quick as it began, but based on the reception they were treated to, they'll be back in Britain soon. More...

70000 Tons Of Metal 2023: Day One

In the modern metal world full of festivals, it seems that cruises are becoming more and more common. Whether it be Chris Jericho's Rock 'N' Wrestling Rager At Sea, the Kiss Kruise or the Mediterranea Metal Cruise, heavy metal on the open sea is becoming more and more common. However, to understand how this became a thing, you need look no further than 70000 Tons Of Metal, which as it proudly boasts, is the world's original metal cruise.

First setting sail in 2011, the floating festival quickly grew in size, popularity and prestige to become the institution it is today. After a few years away thanks to the worldwide bastard that was the COVID-19 pandemic, the cruise returned last week for its eleventh voyage. Boasting some of metal's most popular names, cult favourites and up and comers, 70000 Tons was back with a vengeance.

To get festivities underway, sailors had a choice between British death metal veterans Cancer or German heavy metal stalwarts Iron Savior. Fortunately, with every band scheduled to play twice, it's only a matter of scheduling and not worrying about missing out that helps form decisions. So it was decided that the best way to get the ball rolling was Iron Savior, given their more upbeat sound. They proved to be the perfect choice, as their sonic bridge between heavy and power metal matched the excitement felt on board. Of course, with nearly thirty years of music under their belts, not all albums could be represented in forty five minutes, but the carefully chosen setlist including three songs from "Kill Or Get Killed." The chemistry between frontman Piet Sielck and bassist Jan-Sören Eckert also added to the fun of a memorable set which concluded with "Break The Curse" from 2004's, "Battering Ram." Iron Savior are an underrated band who delivered the goods big time today and proved a perfect opener. More...
