VPOAAWAMC Signs With Kaotoxin Records
Vaginal Penetration Of An Amelus With A Musty Carrot (aka VxPxOxAxAxWxAxMxCx) has signed a multi-album deal with Kaotoxin records.
"Goregrind is all about being extreme: more gore, everywhere... Disgusting as fuck artworks, ultra gory pitched down piggy squeals, blasts everywhere, etc. BUT, of the all the Goregrind acts around, during their already four years of existence, VxPxOxAxAxWxAxMxC (which stands for 'Vaginal Penetration Of An Amelus With A Musty Carrot') managed to get known, not only for the quality of their live presentations, but by the extreme way they are extensively playing Europe from North to South and from West to East, having played quite all countries around, may it be for tours, gigs, of festivals and naming just but a few of the countries they had a snuff fetish audience conquered by their corpse-smelling gore-o-rama would take five paragraphs at least (they're just back from Israel, right now).
"Of course, having the blasts, the gore, the extreme touring and the ultra gore artwork is far not enough to be a good band, worth being checked and praised. But, VxPxOxAxAxWxAxMxC add to this a killer sense of booty-shaking grooves and wall-crushing breakdowns, a real talent for writing tunes that won't gonna leave your memory for long and a real dedication to their (hard) work that makes this absolutely insane and unsane bunch of Austrian dudes an absolutely mandatory member of the Goregrind community." Unearthing The Progressive Metal Underground
More than just brutal riffs and unintelligible screams, heavy metal covers a huge range of sounds and has a massive number of sub-genres that dip into just about any style imaginable. Every week with Unearthing the Metal Underground we highlight three lesser known or unsigned bands that deserve to be heard by the wider music community, and this week includes another look at groups that are well outside the standards of black or death metal.
Last summer we delved into three “progressive” metal bands that throw in non-standard song structures, avant-garde twists, and a healthy dose of ‘70s style prog rock. Below you can find three more groups in the prog metal realm that are all unified by a jazzy outlook, some showy technicality, a strong emphasis on bass playing.
Continuo Renacer
The heaviest of the three bands we’ll look at this week, Spanish three piece Continuo Renacer also happens to be an all-instrumental group, following in the footsteps as such acts as Blotted Science by maintaining a feel of death metal heaviness without using any screams or growls.
Without vocals the instruments really get a chance to shine, and the bass lines keep the music moving forward into ever funkier and more avant-garde territory. The guitar playing on the band’s latest album “The Great Escape” (reviewed here) doesn’t get left behind either, keeping up with impressively technical flourishes. The opening title track from the album can be heard in the player below. Head over to the Continuo Renacer Facebook profile for more details on the band.

Interview
Interview With Chrigel Glanzmann Of Eluveitie
As with most acts that helped popularize entire genres and subgenres, Switzerland's Eluveitie has found itself in a rare position vis-à-vis the so-dubbed "folk metal" movement: that of reluctant leader, the inspirational force with casual indifference to the trend that exploded around them. For this reason, the new LP "Helvetios" whisks the band yet a few echelons higher than the crowd and freshly re-stamps their inimitable brand of mournful, grinding Celtic fury. On the eve of the album's North American release, Eluveitie offered direct support to headliners Children Of Bodom at Montreal's Metropolis. It was here that band founder, songwriter, and frontman Chrigel Glanzmann made himself available for a few questions. More...

“The title is about we've been doing - finding ourselves as a band, proving what are and doing what we do best,” explains drummer and founding member Phil Chamberlain. “This record is something that we're incredibly proud of. We've gotten a lot of compliments about how intense we are live and I don't think that came across on the first album. This time around we went into the recording process wanting to make sure to capture that intensity, and I think we did that." More...
