Vintersorg Working on New Album
Sweden's Vintersorg, featuring vocalist Vintersorg of the Norwegian band Borknagar, are hard at work on their latest studio effort, entitled Visions From The Spiral Generator, and they expect to be done mixing at the end of March for a summer release. According to an official update from the group, “Asgeir's extraordinary drumming is finished and it became as superb as we expected. The new piece will consist of a more progressive aura, expect the unexpected, but within reasonable musical coordinates of course. The voyage proceeds towards artistic abstractness but is wearing a backpack of our past. I feel that the album is a fresh grain in the metal soup, so just hold up with the wait, meditate under the stellar night sky to get in listening shape for Visions From The Spiral Generator.” In other news, Vintersorg have been joined by Borknagar bassist Tyr for the group's upcoming live performances, which will include an appearance at the Popstad festival in Skelleftea, Sweden on Saturday, February 9th

2. Världsspegeln
3. Ångestens Högborg

Ragnar departs Einherjer
Norwegian Viking metallers Einherjer officially announced the departure of frontman Ragnar Vikse.
Vikse joined Einherjer for the band’s 1998 Century Media debut, Odin Owns Ye All, and continued on to sing on the band’s newest album, 2000’s Native Norwegian Art. It’s unclear if Vikse will form a new project at this moment, but the following is what Einherjer had to say about the recent line-up change....
“The fact that Ragnar is out of the band, doesn't change the pride we feel for the last four-five years of Einherjer’s existence. It's just that we've tighten the grip in order to present what Einherjer is all about. We want more of what's right in our hearts. We want to rebuild the essence of our musical approach, the way it was meant to be. Dark, mysterious and enchanting music with equally dark, mysterious and enchanting vocals. The Art of Viking Metal in its original form. Please welcome our new singer - Frode. You won't be disappointed…”

Botch Calls it Quits
Acclaimed metalcore act Botch have decided to call it a day after two unstoppable full-length albums and innumerable compilation appearances.
"I am deeply saddened to inform all concerned that Botch has decided to quit after nine years of playing together," drummer Tim Latona posted on Botch's official website. "The decision, while not completely mutual, is by far the best for all in the band. Personally, I just wanted to thank everyone who has ever put us up for the night, booked us a show, bought out record or put out one of our records. Most of all though, I want to thank everyone who has continued to support us. I hope that we have done something positive in hardcore, and hopefully have touched some of you on some level. I will continue to answer questions on the message board, and we will keep you posted on when the last show will be. Thanks again everyone."

Grevinga joins Sinister
Dutch death metallers Sinister have found a replacement for departed guitarist Bart van Wallenberg in the form of current Cantara guitarist Pascal Grevinga.
Grevinga also performs as session guitarist for fellow Dutch death metal act God Dethroned, but from the looks of it the guitarist will probably call Sinister home for good as the band begins its support tour for last year's Creative Killings.
Aeternus Leave Hammerheart
Norwegian death metallers Aeternus have left Hammerheart Records after four full-length albums and two mini-albums.
"We would like to state very clearly that no bad things have happened," states frontman Ares on Aeternus' official website. "Aeternus finished their contract and were free to go. Hammerheart offered them a new deal but the band decided to look for a new record label since they felt that Hammerheart could no longer provide the bands needs."
"We would like to thank Peter and Guido from Hammerheart for the nice co-operation and the trust and hard work they have put into Aeternus over the last years," Ares continues. "This decision leaves Aeternus free for all options so we advice all record companies to get in touch with Metalmania agency if you would like to offer Aeternus a new deal or to retrieve more info."
