Usurper To Reunite?

Former Usurper and current Nightshade guitarist Rick Scythe has confirmed that he has been in talks recently with his former bandmates in Usurper regarding a reuinion tour. An updare from Rick Scythe reads as follows:

"My new project Nightshade Official has been on hiatus for a few weeks. We did start on some recordings and they've sounded awesome, but the other guitarist Mr. Faust quit the band suddenly and unexpectedly. Since we've rehearsed at his house, we are currently stuck with out a rehearsal room.

"So in my downtime I have been writing a LOT of music. Some new Nightshade stuff, and some stuff for a solo album. I am also looking for other musicians to collaborate with for this solo project. I am basically playing everything myself and then will invite some guests for guitar leads, vocals, drum parts and other things.

"I am planning on setting up a demo studio at my new house and am starting to buy some gear. I still have more to buy, but I figure by mid September I should be ready to record some solo material. More...

American Head Charge Calls It Quits

American Head Charge is hanging up their hat and disbanding. Citing singer Cameron Heacock’s “inability to continue on a musical career path,” the Minneapolis based hard-rock/industrial band is changing their name and beginning the audition process for a new vocalist.

“This is not the kind of news I enjoy being the bearer of, but we’ve been ready and waiting for input from Cameron for almost two years; we’ve written and recorded two albums worth of material in that time.” says co-founder and bassist Chad Hanks. “At this point, he no longer gives being in this band any sort of top priority, which is so sad seeing as how he has such an amazing and unique voice; I couldn’t wait to hear it on these songs.

“However, we’re looking forward to some new blood; a young, hungry soul that doesn’t sound like anyone else and is ready to work his ass off. We’re more than eager to get back to the mines. This is what we do.”

Potential vocalists can submit demos to NewVocalist2009@gmail.com

Burst To Break Up After U.S. Tour Dates

Sweden's Burst has issued the following announcement about choosing to disband after their upcoming U.S. tour:

"We are glad to announce that Burst will embark on our first US tour immediately following our appearance at the intriguing Planet Caravan festival in Asheton, NC on september 19. The tour will go through to October 10. Half the tour Burst and opener Zoroaster will be gigging with the draconian French metal philosophers Gojira on their Metallica off-dates, half the tour we’ll do our own shows with Zoroaster.

"At the same time, we’d like to announce that our first US tour will also be our last. Following a band meeting at the end of June, we have decided that it is time to let Burst sleep.

"We will honor our commitments, play the planned No Budget fest in Larissa, Greece as well as the US tour, and a possible best-of show in Sweden in late fall. But after that and for the foreseeable future, Burst will lay down its arms. Whether it is definite or indefinite, we can’t say. Thus, in accordance with modern internet heavy metal news site lingo, we’ll call it an 'indefinite hiatus.' More...

Manitou Calls It Quits

Finnish metallers Manitou have issued the following announcement about calling it a day:

"THE END OF THE MANITOU

"After a long struggle and a lot of effort to give some rescue breathing to this band without much results we've decided to call it a day and say goodbye to the MANITOU.

"We had some new rocking songs ready for the recording and we even had a new bad-ass keyboard player Mikko Reinamo on board. Too bad that we failed to get the recordings done due to the lack of motivation.

"12 years, three great albums and a big bunch of great gigs, ups and downs. A big thank you goes to all our friends, fans, co-operation partners and supporters, you know who you are!

"The good news are that Ismo, Antti, Mikko and Markus are already working together on a new still anonymous project, which will in a way continue the legacy of Manitou with a new singer and drummer on board. More info coming soon on this case, so keep on checking the Manitou myspace site for updates on what's happening in the family. More...

Ozzy Osbourne Dismisses Guitarist Zakk Wylde

In a recent interview with Classic Rock magazine, metal legend Ozzy Osbourne has revealed that he has parted ways with long-time guitarist Zakk Wylde.

“Well, I’m getting a new guitar player as we speak,” said Ozzy, “and everyone has been saying to me for a long time, ‘Get Johnny 5!’ And I tried him at one time and I didn’t really give him a chance. We’ll see, I don’t know. I haven’t fallen out with Zakk, but Zakk’s got his own band, and I felt like my stuff was beginning to sound like BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. I just felt like I wanted a change, y’know?

“I’ve got a guy from Greece coming in – not the musical, the country of Greece – but I’m not going to say too much about it, cos I don’t know myself at this point. I’ve got a new album, I’m working on it as we speak. I’ve got a studio at my house and I’ve got a guy called Kevin Churko, the guy that did the last album – he’s great to work with.

"And it’s great to have your own studio. On one hand it’s great and on the other it’s not, cos when you’re at the studio you can go, ‘Sorry darling, I can’t get home for dinner, I’m stuck at the studio…’ But she can fucking come down stairs now! But I’m just enjoying my life now…" More...

Chosen Calls It Quits

Chosen has posted the following message online:

"It is with a heavy heart we announce that Chosen is no more. After several years of hard work and perseverance, it's time to say goodbye. Simply put, the Chosen project broke beyond repair this last weekend. It’s fair to reason that the financial, personal, and emotional strains wore some of us down and caused this premature ending. Regrettably we never got to record our debut album or even tour Europe but such is the fragile nature of band relationships.

"We won't go into the whole 'behind-the-music-band-break-up' scenario, but Matt and Johnny’s decision to leave Chosen and return to Canada came as a surprise, given everything we have been through and were working towards. The rest of us don't want to go through yet another major line-up change and are just ready for a new chapter in our lives.

"We would like to sincerely thank everyone we have worked with over the years and anyone who supported us when we were together. You have all been amazing.

"Lastly, we have a limited number of our first four releases (The Fragment EP's & Promo 2007) which we are happy to give away for free. Please send an email to band@chosen.ie for your free copy.

"Thank you and farewell."

Pestilence Denied Entry Into The United States

Pestilence will not headline today, May 24th, at the Maryland DeathFest due to their detainment at the US border. Band leader Patrick Mameli and guitarist Patrick Uterwyck were kept in custody for several hours and sent back to the Netherlands late yesterday.

Upon entering the US and stopping at customs they discovered their paper work, which was sent to them, for their travels was not properly completed for the required working visas. Originally they were told all was in order and to proceed on the trip to the US. They spent a total of 44 hours in flights and detainment.

“We are extremely sad and disappointed not being able to perform on the MDF. Not having received the proper information on our visa application, we were under the impression that what we received from the securing visas and working permits office was the actual working permits,” explains band leader Patrick Mameli. “We were kept under custody by the border security police for 4 hours trying to do everything in our power to let us pass, but all our efforts failed. They sent us home on the next plane. Hopefully we will be given another chance to perform for you, our fans!”

Rigor Mortis Guitarist To Undergo Neck Surgery

Texas death metallers Rigor Mortis have issued the following statement about guitarist Mike Scaccia undergoing emergency neck surgery:

"Rigor Mortis guitarist Mike Scaccia will have emergency neck surgery this Monday morning at 6AM. Scaccia has been having problems with severe pains in his arms in recent years. It appeared it was always from medical conditions such as tendonitis from the many years of playing the intense and fast style of music that he plays. But a few days after his performance in Germany at “Keep It True 12” last weekend, Scaccia noticed his left arm went totally numb. So he went in to see his chiropractor, who noticed something seriously wrong in Scaccia’s neck. So he sent him for an immediate MRI. The results showed that Scaccia has a Cervical Herniated Disc in his lower neck and they told him that he could easily become paralyzed without immediate surgery.

"All of us in Rigor Mortis are hopeful that Mike will have a successful surgery and that he will be back playing his guitar very soon. The doctors have assured Mike that this surgery will make him a 10-times better guitar player. We will give an update sometime next week on how Mike is recovering. If you want to wish Mike luck with his surgery, he will be checking our Rigor Mortis Myspace page when he can. So feel free to leave him a message here."

"In the middle of Children Of Bodom's current North American tour with Lamb of God, Alexi's well-known tendency to break bones has struck again. In his latest twitter update, K-Man reports that the Wildchild has broken his arm after falling from his top bunk. Apparently Alexi is still able to perform but he's having to take strong painkillers and to wear a sling when he's not playing. Rock 'n' roll or what! Let's hope the break heals quickly."

To/Die/For Calls It Quits

Vocalist Jape of Finnish metallers To/Die/For has issued the following announcement about the band calling it a day:

"My nerves, stress level and Life came to the point that i really need to get some rest, and say goodbye for these Stressful and still nice days with TDF Since 2005 we have been through so many shitty things. We have been unlucky to meet so many shitty promoters etc. FUCK YOU ALL (this is for all of those so called promoters who ruined some of our tours, and are also one of TDF..s killers.) Also i have to thank some promoters, like AYU from Mexico! and of course we met other great and friendly promoters too around the world!but...a few asshole really can kill you!?

"Italy visit a couple of years ago, and U.S tour 2007 really sucked a huge part of my/our energy and motivation. It was a miracle that i continued after U.S tour until these days! Now, one booking agency tried to handle our first South-American tour and also things with this did not work.Local promoters here and there did not pay their part for the main promoters in time etc. They just could not handle things which had to be clear. I am so sad and pissed off this tour did not happen...AGAIN! We are so sorry for our fans there.

"There was only 9 shows totally confirmed for almost five weeks? And many more not that “handled” things. They seemed to be working very hard for us, but still...Again i felt like “we have been through this shit before” Also all these line-up changes always stressed me a lot and made me sad, but still everyone who played with me in TDF were great persons! Every line-up change killed a little part of me...well exept one!

"With our latest line-up we tried to write new songs, and we had some “raw”songs, but there was One big problem! No one seemed to like same kind of songs. Latest album came out in 2006 and after that we had only one new song? And we are not satisfied with it eather. Somethings must be wrong i think!? More...
