Metal Church Announces Break Up

Seattle, Washington based metal veterans Metal Church have announced that due to a number of factors, the band are calling it a day. A message from the band reads as follows:
"To all of our fans and friends...
"We regretfully announce that Metal Church is calling it quits.
"The performance at Rocklahoma will be our last show. We have had to cancel the shows scheduled for August and that, among other things, has led us to have to make this decision.
"There has been far too much frustration and disappointment in trying to keep moving forward. The collapse of our record company, SPV, has made it next to impossible for us to continue in any kind of professional manner due to lack of tour support. This decision was not made lightly.
"We do have unfinished business in the studio, and with any luck we will have something that will be of interest to Metal Church fans in the near future.
"We would like to thank all the fans that have stuck with Metal Church through all these years, the lineup changes and the ups and downs.
"We can't tell you how much your support has meant to us, we appreciate each and every one of you.
"It's been a great ride.
Metal Church."

Holy hell! That hit me like a Ton of Bricks (ton of bricks)... seriously though wtf. this sucks. i missed them last time i had a chance to see em. I now regret it. Though I haven't liked anything they did since Masterpeace, but it still would be interesting to see live. oh well. i also think the whole record label going bankrupt is total BS of an excuse. bands get new labels all the time. so you can't tour for a while. find a new label or start your own. i know a bunch of unsigned bands that are touring - namely Periphery. Get some good management and promote yourself. stop complaining and expect everyone to do everything for you. that's not the way today's music world is.

Wow. 28 years in they pulled the plug. I guess its to be expected though all good things (or even formerly good things I haven't liked most of their recent work) must come to an end, although this is a bit abrupt. R.I.P. to one of the old school, your contributions will be missed.

zMETALlica - That was my first question I had, too. Surely, a band as popular as Metal Church wouldn't have any problems getting picked up by another label. I'm guessing that the passion and desire just isn't there at the moment...which sucks, but I'd rather a band call it a day than force a lackluster effort.

Yeah, definitely not just that issue.. they said themselves that it was for a number of reasons. I'll agree with you on them calling it a day as opposed to ruining themselves as well.
Also holy crap this is picking up replies fast - I was curious to see but I didn't expect the number to double that quickly. I'll surely be beaten to posting this by like 4 people. :p
And since I haven't seen this done in a while,

Terminator: i agree. besides they've been lacking already these past few albums and with less and less of the original line up... yeah... i can understand why they'll call it a day. still, wish i could have seen them on tour and they should stop giving fans BS responses.

Terrible news. 'This Present Wasteland' was one of my favourite albums of last year, and got me looking into their back catalogue. I'd previously only heard their title song 'Metal Church', which was without doubt one of the precursors of thrash. Killer intro into killer riff into killer vocals, making one f***ing killer song.
This may be the end of Metal Church, but they've left an incredible back catalogue and I look forward to hearing their future projects. All the best guys!
Deeds of a Dead Soul will be playing loud tonight!

Sorry, to hear such grieve news from one very energetic Classic Metal Rockers METAL CHURCH: as mentioned in one of the comment re-plies they been together 28yrs, Wow!!! That's quite a Music Career & up's and downs & hopefully after such a "blink" experience w/their last record company SPV these Master musicians can move on with other music endeavors & as said they do have something special in their vintage music vault...'maybe that can be shared later down the Road after all this pain has eased down. That's sad news and do wish each musician that made METAL CHURCH Classic Heavy the very best..'and do keep in contact with one another who know what the future holds. Peace!

Man I'm f***ing gutted! I was looking forward to seeing them with Overkill a few months ago and was so disappointed when they pulled out (though Exodus took their place which isn't a bad thing at all.) Their last record was really good too!
