Kataklysm Guitarist Detained By Federal Agents

Guitarist Jean-Francois Dagenais of Canadian death metal quartet Kataklysm was detained today by federal agents at an airport in Washington D.C.
The guys were scheduled to change planes in the capital before continuing on to Chicago after playing a couple of highly successful shows in Russia.
"We grabbed our bags and went through immigration with no problems as expected. As we’re waiting in line for the customs exit some uniformed guy grabs J-F and takes him away with his bags. We assumed it was just a random check," commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono.
An hour later, 3/4 of the band were on the next plane with still no sign of Dagenais.
"This was 4pm. I go back to the customs area and the place is deserted. At this point we started worrying and asking questions but we received no answers. We decide to board our plane at 4:30 pm with still no sign of him. Someone from United Airlines tells me finally he won’t be joining our flight but still no reason is given," Iacono continued.
“So we jet out of D.C. and get back to Chicago where the guys were staying over at my house until today to go back to Canada. After fruitless calls to the airport we just decided to wait for some sort of sign of life. That sign came at 11pm in Chicago at O’Hare airport.
“Apparently Washington customs official grabbed J-F and threw him in a room with only one chair and a table. He was there for five hours until they finally talked to him and they told him that he was wanted internationally and by the US government. I could have imagined his face when they told him this, it must have been priceless. People that know J-F know he couldn’t hurt an ant. He’s one of the most down to earth and sweetest people you could meet. After a few hours of denying everything, Interpol sent in a picture and that picture didn’t match his. What happened was that there was another Jean-Francois Dagenais that is listed in the FBI’s most wanted list and they thought they’d caught him. I mean, what the fuck!? He was given a tap on the shoulder and apology and re-booked to Chicago! Even though we were really worried all of us laughed it off at the end. It’s just ironic that we expected this to maybe happen in Russia but in the end it ended up happening right here at home!”

Wilco, oh yes, Its incredible! A dutch terrorist then :) One of my mates had some trouble entering Miami a while back. So I guess we Finns are terrorists as well.
Poor USA... The only good and righteous nation in the world having us hoodlums teasing them all the time. It's just not fair

Yet people from one of them most corrupt nations on earth are allowed to enter the US at will and some goverment officials even acknowledge that we actually need them here for the economy cause they work for minimum wage and sometimes less. I'm speaking of course about Mexicans.

^ You know, I dont wanna de-rail the conversation here, but at work I've been in contact with some arab companies sometimes, and it was really weird for me to find out that surnames like "Hussein" or "Bin Laden" are very common names over there. I always wondered whats it like for them to travel to the US... Can you imagine Mr. Bin Laden being paged to the Hertz desk at JFK?

2^ whats moronic about it?...ya it was a terrible mistake, but this is a post 9/11 world, and these guys were doing their jobs regardless if the system has flaws in it or not...airport screenings are pains in the azz many people including the elderly and even kids have been inconvienced by this, for either having an identical name or looking like another person of intrest...the system needs improvement im not saying its perfect...but you dont understand the magnatude of what 9/11 had and still has on america....
The bad thing is this guy is canadian and that gives them another reason to hate the states even more.......great..

i didn't find it ironic that this sh** happens here in america. This sh** happens all the time and of course everyone knows if you tell them ''no'' at an airport, you're f***ed! which is f***ed up that we're expected to ''obey'' these ''authorities'' to ''keep america safe''. when really they're just being f***ed up fat-bellied bullies. f*** that! f*** the authorities! sh** is never for our ''safety''. fa-fa-fa-fa-faf***em all!

The dude they wanted is on the FBI Most Wanted List! You gotta commit some serious crime to make that list. He had the same last name, and when you're wanted by the FBI, you probably alter your appearance. The 5 hours is an interrogation technique. I don't see the flaw in the system.

whoever said that bullsh** about a "post 9/11 world"...think about what you're saying. Look into your nations history. America hasn't had a real president since JFK. It's a police state that's under full control by the banking elite, mainly the Rothschild dynasty. 9/11 is just an excuse to turn America into a fascist dictatorship. Obama voted for the re-instatement of the patriot act if you didn't hear about that. After tireless campaigning talking about giving Americans back their freedom...yeah...right.

Yet again, another stupid idiot trying to get some cash and a raise by catching an innocent man. Tards should do their research before they start trying to detain the Mighty Kataklysm. You'd think that the dumbas would look at the picture and say, "Oh hey, you're not the man we want. Maybe we should let you go." But that would make too much sense and be too obvious... The system is flawed and it's really not a free country anymore, and if we say so we're castigated and spit on and haulled away. Is that fair? F*** NO!!!
33. writes:
Some of you people are idiots.
If you were in the feds boots and yousaw a name of someone you're looking for on a flight manifesto you'd detain them.
That's how it works, you sit safely behind you computer talking about your how your country is unfair and security isn't working but what will you have to say when they for some reason decide to just let anyone in andyour mother or best friend gets killed by one of these people.
And Americans calling other countries corrupt is so laughable I didn't even laugh. Have a think about it, what's fair about two parties being the only ones that can ever have power?

Bravo, Wiggles for the win!
I would like to add to him by saying that you idiots have no clue how good you have it here in the states. Furthermore, do you really think that anything that is on this Earth is perfect???? The government that is ran by humans who do actually have your safety in mind make a small mistake, and you think that they are the issue? IT's not like the man has a common name, too! They did apologize, and let him go. I am sure that if I did not pay attention to the metal kingdom I might have had done the same thing. It isn't like they had the name James Hetfield on this list in which case they would know the difference between the artist, and the criminal.

Wiggles-yeah, I like the green party the most, and none of them ever get into office! every politician now is a whit rich male...fvcking fail...and it's a WHOLE lot worse in the middle east.
Kali-good fvcking point. At least we agree with eachother on ONE political topic at least

freedom of speech? wake up and smell the reality. there is no ''freedom of speech'' to protect you. you speak what's right and what's wrong, you become a ''national threat'' and end up getting shot for it. and the cover-up, that follows, being murdered by a psycho killer freak secretly hired by the gov't. Of course the flip side of that, if you don't get shot for you, surely the gov't has their unique ways getting those who try to change the gov't, the gov't changes them.

Lol^^ not all pot users get paranoia....although many do. I think it sux that this happened to JFD but it does happen all the time. we are only hearing about 1 of the millions of times this has happened. a similar story happened to a friend of mine but he looked very similar to the picture they had of the actual perp. They went to the extent of fingerprints for proof.
46. writes:
It's not just his paraniod point of view, but the lack of intellegance that he seems to have. What many do not seem to get is that when it comes to freedom of speech one must remember that when crap comes out of your mouth, expect crap to come back to you. Many also seem to not realize that words are quite powerful. If one is to run around saying they are going to do ilegal things, then expect that the officials have a right to look into it. Especially when it comes to public safety. I really wish that people would re-adopt "think before you speak".

the cost of daily living, from buying food to getting medical care, will become difficult for all but a few as the dollar plunges. States and cities will see their pension funds drained and finally shut down. The government will be forced to sell off infrastructure, including roads and transport, to private corporations. w will be increasingly charged by privatized utilities, Enron—for what was once regulated and subsidized. Commercial and private real estate will be worth less than half its current value. The negative equity that already plagues 25 percent of American homes will expand to include nearly all property owners. It will be difficult to borrow and impossible to sell real estate unless we accept massive losses. tere will be block after block of empty stores and boarded-up houses. Foreclosures will be epidemic. there will be long lines at soup kitchens and many, many homeless. Our corporate-controlled media, already banal and trivial, will work overtime to anesthetize us with useless gossip, spectacles, sex, gratuitous violence, fear and tawdry junk politics. america will be composed of a large dispossessed underclass and a tiny empowered oligarchy that will run a ruthless and brutal system of neo-feudalism from secure compounds. thse who resist will be silenced, many by force. wewill pay a terrible price, and we will pay this price soon for the gross malfeasance of our power elite.

DIE-well, the ones who are getting anywhere...in the US, at least. AND they all have to be somewhat christian. Notice how they all have to say, 'god bless america'. What do you think would happen if a politition said, 'Allah bless America' or 'Satan bless America' or 'Odin bless America'
I would vote for those last two guys, but whatev...
oh, and Hater kind of has a point on freedom of speech. It's not as gone as it is in say, palestine, Iran, Iraq, or Afghanistan(or Saudi Arabia), but we still have the most freedom of speech out of almost every country in the world...

Do you not see how you are just contradicting yourself here hater_guy?
You b**** and moan about not having rights or whatever blah blah blah but yet you can still type post 63 with no major repercussions whatsoever.
So, Americans complaining about free speech, just shut the f*** up and be happy with what you have. Most of the people in the world cant even access most sites to start with, let alone speak out in public.

do you not see i don't give a fawk. your responses are making me laugh on top of it. it's enteraining to me. look, this whole thing started by someone in a band getting detained, let go, follwed by everyone expressing their views and opinions on the security in america and how f***ed it is or isn't. i said my side of it and even went off on sh** that didn't make any sense to anyone else even myself because i don't know what the f*** i say half the time, the way i put it sucks, i have no brain, it feel out of my ear, i couldn't find it and now i'm a complete idiot. so yeah i contradict all the time. i have panic attacks too. last time i had a panic attack i was having sex with a woman and you know what happened? i rocked her world! she will never forget me! but i just don't have sex with any chick. i only have sex when i'm in love! this is why i'm chillin with the weed and the hookers and you can't beat that with a stick brother! and if that don't make sense, it makes dollars!

Yeah, you're right on the Christian part MHD but I have a feeling a lot of politicians are closet atheists. However, minorities are beginning to be represented. It would be nice if none of it (race, religion, gender, status) mattered, but it does so you make due with what you have. Let's just try to not turn into Iran. =)
