Pestilence Denied Entry Into The United States

Pestilence will not headline today, May 24th, at the Maryland DeathFest due to their detainment at the US border. Band leader Patrick Mameli and guitarist Patrick Uterwyck were kept in custody for several hours and sent back to the Netherlands late yesterday.

Upon entering the US and stopping at customs they discovered their paper work, which was sent to them, for their travels was not properly completed for the required working visas. Originally they were told all was in order and to proceed on the trip to the US. They spent a total of 44 hours in flights and detainment.

“We are extremely sad and disappointed not being able to perform on the MDF. Not having received the proper information on our visa application, we were under the impression that what we received from the securing visas and working permits office was the actual working permits,” explains band leader Patrick Mameli. “We were kept under custody by the border security police for 4 hours trying to do everything in our power to let us pass, but all our efforts failed. They sent us home on the next plane. Hopefully we will be given another chance to perform for you, our fans!”

What is "XXIst ccountry"? It wasn't a good thing for them not being able to come here. A good part about it was Bolt Thrower decided to play a 2nd time on their slot tonight (Sunday) at the Maryland Deathfest. So I finally got to hear Bolt Throwers music for my 1st time :). May consider buying CD in future.

Post ten is right, first, some retard manager didn't do his homework and secondly are country is a little more tighter at the borders since 9/11. It's sad but true!!! When the towers were falling, I told my children our world will never be the same and this is just another point to prove it. Like wilco, I know of other Americans (born and raised here) who have been detained at airports for lesser things............It's just the way the world had made it today........who do we really trust anymore?

Yeah, right our security is tighter than it was before...hahaha. It's pretty easy to get in and out of the US. German airports have better/more intense security than ours do and I know this from personal experience. They pat you down like 3 times and search your bags a few times as well. The US doesn't do anything like that, their searches are random usually, and they look through your bag only once. I mean, I had a German exchange student come and she said they gave her a form to fill out on the airplane to America that asked, "Are you a terrorist? Do you have WMDs with you?"

To post 13 -

What the F*CK? That just shows how F*CKED up the US government is. I bet thats why they were handing it to students. I know if was a student and received that I would've just ticked "YES" to EVERY F*CKING THING ON THAT sh**! Like f*ck, as soon as a kid does answer "YES" to one of them questions the f*cking retards down at Washington would take that f*cking seriously. The best f*cking thing IS to tick "YES" and watch the f*cking countries battle it out over utter f*cking retardation. SH*T!

I never heard Pestilence music, nor have I heard Bolt Thrower. I would have probably preferred Pestilence over Bolt Thrower on Sunday. Marduk was another that couldn't come to the MDF, because they had visa problems. I definitely wanted to see Marduk a 2nd time.

I agree that it is totally up to the band's manager to ensure these situations are avoided all together. Too bad for Pestilence because they are a kick a$$ band that would have made a decent amount of cash to play in the MDF. It is a shame that security has become so hardcore at our airports and boders, but it is unfortunately necessary considering what happened on 9/11. On the bright side, Bolt thrower is incredible. I wish I could see them perform and the rest of the lineup has some good bands as well. I have been trying to find some Bolt Thrower T's forever! Does anyone know where I can find some BT merch?
