Deitus Releases New Single "A Thousand Razors"

Black metallers Deitus show no sign of slowing down this year, with the release of their new single "A Thousand Razors." The standalone track follows hot on the heels of their most recent album Irreversible which was released to critical acclaim via Candlelight Records in July. You can check it out below.

Comments Deitus on the new single:
"‘A Thousand Razors’ was recorded during the Irreversible sessions back in September 2022, although we later decided against using it on the album. We felt this spiteful hymn deserved its own separate release. Get down on your knees and tremble in the splendour of heinous light!!" More...

Insomnium Reveals New EP Details

Today, Finnish metal melancholists Insomnium have released their new single and music video for 'Song of the Dusk'. The track is taken from the band's upcoming EP "Songs Of The Dusk," due 3rd November via Century Media. Make sure to watch the majestic video from Riivata for the epic, almost 10 minute long saga, "Song Of The Dusk" below.

On the upcoming EP and new single, the band comments:
"As the album would have been too long, we left these three tracks out on the initial version, yet they are part of the 'Anno 1696' story and complement it and some of the gaps are being filled. 'Song Of The Dusk' offers an alternative ending, so people can decide which kind of mood they prefer. This version is a bit more hopeful and less tragic, at least on a general Insomnium scale - everyone is dead... except the wolves."

Music, essentially, is a weapon to destroy the walls we built around us – and Finnish metal melancholists Insomnium are amongst its strongest wielders. Their ninth masterpiece, "Anno 1696," released in early 2023 led us deep into the dark and troublesome past of Northern Europe, a time of witches, of superstition, of bloodlust and frenzy. And of werewolves. In November, Insomnium continue the epic story of "Anno 1696" on their addendum-like EP "Songs Of The Dusk," featuring 22 minutes of music and three more journeys into a dark and foggy past.

"We simply had eleven great songs, and we thought that this material is too good to be ‘just’ bonus tracks," Niilo Sevänen (bass, vocals) states. "They are part of the big story, so you can think of them as the director’s cut material that tells a little extra. For those who want to have more."

Mixed by Jaime Gomez Arellano (Orgone Studios) and mastered by Tony Lindgren (Fascination Street Studios), "Anno 1696" and the matching "Songs Of The Dusk" are by far their most accomplished, emotionally rattling, soaring achievements. More...

Sadus To Release First Album In Sixteen Years

East Bay thrash metal legends Sadus will make their long-awaited return this autumn for the release of their first album in 16 years, "The Shadow Inside," on November 17th via Nuclear Blast Records. Reunited in 2017, the band spent the last several years writing the record at their own pace, impervious to outside trends and influences, and recently finished recording with Juan Urteaga (Exodus, Testament, Machine Head) at Trident Studios.

Featuring ominous artwork by accomplished artist Travis Smith (Fleshgod Apocalypse, Opeth), "The Shadow Inside," is a contemporary thrash classic with colossal, groove-laden riffs at break-neck rhythm and blistering solos. It’s the record fans have been waiting desperately for and one of the year’s most crucial metal albums.

Commenting on the record’s impending release, founding vocalist/guitarist Darren Travis says:

"I am giddy with excitement for this album to be unleashed upon the world. With the help of the entire Nuclear Blast team, we will bestow a hugely anticipated release of The Shadow Inside!!

"THANK YOU for your interest in our little band for all these years. I hope you will find the same release of excitement that WE DO!! The love of METAL is the only reason for SADUS!! Thank you ALL for the undying SUPPORT!!!! Fucking SADUS!!”

Sadus unleashed the first single, "It’s The Sickness" late last year. Today, the band have unveiled the record’s next track, "Ride The Knife," which is available now for streaming and is accompanied by the lyric video below. More...

Symphony Of Heaven Release Single

Symphony Of Heaven are preparing to unveil their new single "In Anger's Midst". With a sound that also leans into melodic blackened death realms, the band delivers a dynamic and powerful track.

The band explain about the new single, "'In Anger’s Midst' is about going through such a dark time in one’s life that you feel on the verge of being out of control, lost, and that if you don’t get yourself out of that hole you’ll regret what you might do or become". The track also fits into the band's pseudo-historical world that bleeds through their music; the lore of Ordo Aurum, a pseudo-historical Christian Order. Within this realm the lyrics of the song come from a document written by Grandmaster Nicolaus Farel, in 1919 after the death of his parents and family to the Spanish Flu in Europe. The surviving document has recently been uncovered, having been kept in the London Lodge until this time. More...

Autopsy Reveals New Album Details

Autopsy will release their new album, "Ashes, Organs, Blood & Crypts," via Peaceville Records on October 27. In anticipation of the record, the band has released a trailer, which can be seen below.

One of the longest running death metal acts active today, and an inspiration for whole generations of depraved metal maniacs the world over, Autopsy formed in 1987 in San Francisco (with drummer/vocalist Chris Reifert originally being a part of the genre-defining Floridan act, Death), and released four albums on Peaceville Records - beginning with the classic debut "Severed Survival" in 1989 - before disbanding in 1995, with members going on to form the equally disturbed Abscess.

Autopsy officially returned after a fifteen year hiatus with the 2010 EP, "The Tomb Within," followed closely by fifth studio album, "Macabre Eternal" in 2011, which set them on a new bloodthirsty trail, with the reinvigorated intent of creating more of the sickest and most twisted and uncompromising music ever to grace a turntable, and the band has remained prolific ever since.

Hot on the heels of 2022’s universally lauded opus, "Morbidity Triumphant," which was also the first release to feature new bassist Greg Wilkinson (also currently joined by Chris in death doom duo Static Abyss), the US death metal greats now return for a new sermon of sickness, with "Ashes, Organs, Blood & Crypts"; brutal bouts of riffery marked by the feral attack of the undisputed master poet of everything macabre, Chris Reifert.

Eleven tracks of pure audial attack, punctuated by frenzied soloing courtesy of guitar maestros Eric Cutler and Danny Coralles amid classic all-out death metal fury going straight for the jugular, interspersed with brooding doom-styled descents into delirium.

"Ashes, Organs, Blood & Crypts" was recorded at Sharkbite Studios by Scott Evans and Greg Wilkinson, with additional tracking and mixing carried out at Earhammer studios by Greg Wilkinson. Mastering work was once more carried out at Ken Lee mastering.

Carrying on with recent tradition, the cover artwork was created by the suitably morbid mind of Wes Benscoter (Bloodbath/Slayer). More...
