Black Hole Theory Working On New Album
Indian death metal band Black Hole Theory were interviewed by Indiavarta.com. Here are some excerpts:
Q. What is the story of the Black Hole Theory? When did it start?
We formed a band in 2002. We did not know each other earlier. All of us met at a local pub and that’s where we actually planned things. We have not looked back since then!
Q. How do you differ from other rock bands in the country?
Well, we play a slightly different genre than a normal metal band. We play “death metal with a twist”. Here’s a simple explanation for what I mean by twist, we play something that falls under the title of “death metal” and the sub genre of death metal. That would mean melodic black, black metal, grind core, and thrash death and technical death.
All the songs differ from each other. If one song is fast, the other will be slow melodic yet heavy. That’s how different we are from all the other bands.
Q. Have you cut any album?
We released “Black Hole Theory” in 2004. It was recorded at our guitarist’s place but that was a rough album. It was given free to all our fans and friends. It was fun putting it together and we got some good responses from Bangalore, Mumbai and Pune.
Currently, we are focusing on our full-length album “Bringer of Light”. This will be released in mid- 2007. It will have some of our old tracks from the first LP.
Q. It is said that rock bands hardly get support from the recording companies. If so, how do you market your music?
That’s true. India has very few bands. No label comes forward to market us but that’s all right!! We can market our work by selling our CDs at local rock shows or through our network of friends in different cities.
Q. Do you have any plans for the immediate future ?
As of now, we are working on our new album. We have six songs ready and are composing three more to complete the album. As soon as the album work is complete, we will start our tour to promote our album. Let’s hope everything falls in place.

Mortiis Issues Update On New Material
Mortiis has been busy writing and recording new material for a new album, to be released 2007.
"The music so far is pretty varied," said frontman and band namesake Mortiis. "There´s a bunch of really heavy stuff in there, probably the hardest stuff we´ve done so far, really guitar driven shit. Then there´s some really ambient sounding stuff, very drone-y and atmospheric, as well as some more electronic sounding songs too."
Mortiis notes that the songs are still in various stages of completion, leaving them open to many shifts and changes before the follow-up to "The Grudge" is recorded.
"It sounds really interesting right now," Mortiis said. "Some old vibes came back to us on some of the songs, some ´Smell of Rain´ vibes and some ´Grudge´ vibes and some new vibes. It´s all totally dysfunctional and fucked up in one way or another. Diseased or hurt minds never really heal up, I guess, and because of that, all in all it?s going to be a really hard, attacking kind of album with the moody stuff in between."
Some of the working titles are: "Zeitgeist," "Great Deceiver," "The Ugly Truth," "Looking Glass," "Doppelganger," "Sins of Mine," "Scolding the Burnt," "Live Forever," and "Road to Ruin."
Mortiis also recently completed remixes for Zombie Girl and Dope Stars´ upcoming releases.

MetalUnderground.com Sponsors Hammerslag 2006 Fest
Metalunderground.com is once again sponsoring Norway's Hammerslag Vinterblot festival for the second year in a row. The festival, which is to take place on December 15 and 16, 2006, is a two-day showcase of extreme black, death and grind metal bands. Sponsorship of the Hammerslag Vinterblot festival fits with Metalunderground.com's mission of promoting underground heavy metal.
The two-day extreme metal festival, in its third year, takes place in Norway's oldest city, Tønsberg (est. 871). Friday night's show will be held at Rivals Rockpub and Saturday's at Eikhallen, a sports arena in Tønsberg. The Hammerslag Vinterblot festival features performances by some of Norway's best as well as underground black metal, death metal, thrash, grindcore and doom metal bands, boasting more than nine confirmed bands including Zyklon, Kampfar, Framferd, Cutthroat, Malsain, Sarkom, Abominat, Dead Man's Hand, and Pandemi with others in negotiation.
"Once again, we're happy to be part of the Hammerslag Festival and bring word of some excellent Norwegian and European extreme metal bands to our predominantly American readership," said Metalunderground.com owner Doug Gibson. "I'm even more excited this year to have a local journalist reporting directly from the festival for Metalunderground.com."
"Promotion of this event to an American audience benefits the Hammerslag Vinterblot Festival, the Norwegian Extreme Metal Scene, and metalheads alike," commented the festival's organizer, Bjørn Almar Rolstad Johansen. "We hope to bring the US and Europe closer together in the metal community so we can share all the great music being made in both continents. This year's festival is a much bigger production than in past years. The festival has outgrown the ancient church where it was held the past two years and has now moved to a bigger venue. We are thrilled that all of the hard work that has been put into Hammerslag is paying off and that this year we will be able to celebrate the darkest time of the year with even more metalheads."
Tickets for the Hammerslag Vinterblot Festival can be purchased at http://www.bilettservice.no/ or at the door.
In the coming weeks leading up to Hammerslag Vinterblot 2007, we'll be posting some interviews with these bands on the bill.

Dave Navarro Complains About Supernova Promotion
The Panic Channel guitarist Dave Navarro checked in with fans on his blog at 6767.com, not happy about the promotions for Rock Star Supernova's just-released debut album. "The Supernova record is out today. Does ANYONE know about that," Navarro asked. "I just went to iTunes and noticed that there isn't even one comment up. Now, I have been complaining about the state of the music industry for a long time... About how major record labels don't stand behind their bands anymore but this is ridiculous. This is a new band that is full of platinum selling artists and the final winning singer from a high rated, network talent search summer series that cost millions to produce. CBS and MBP basically put together one of the most expensive ramp ups in album release history and so far, I haven't seen a single add or alert about this album. Now, the band will be fine. They are going out on a huge tour and will gain plenty of momentum I am sure. My point is, if this is the way Epic is going to treat these guys, how do we expect any major to really get behind a band that is new, fresh and totally unknown?"
Rock Star Supernova, moved less than 17,000 copies in its debut week, landing them the No. 101 position on the Billboard Top 200 Albums.
