Disiplin To Begin Recording Debut in August
Moonfog have inked a deal with Disiplin, a new band featuring ex-Myrkskog guitarist General K (aka Savant M). The group will begin recording their debut for the label in August.
“Our music is based on old school black metal with inspiration from thrash and death metal,' explains General K.
Plucked from obscurity on the strength of a demo forwarded to the Moonfog offices, Disiplin managed to impress Satyricon frontman and Moonfog´s top dog, Satyr at once. “It´s very rare that a new band on the scene succeeds in catching my interest on the strength of a demo alone,” states Satyr. “It only happened once before in the history of Moonfog with Khold. And apart from the obvious fact that I enjoy their music and that I have a great belief in their potential, I think they have that indistinguishable Moonfog sound.” More...

Helltrain Sign with Nuclear Blast
Helltrain have signed with Nuclear Blast Records. The band was founded in 2002 by Pierre Törnkvist (vocals, guitar). The other members of the Helltrain crew are Oskar Karlsson (drums, guitar) and Patrik Tornkvist (guitar, organ, piano, bass).

The band is currently recording their debut at Dugout Studios with producer Daniel Bergstrand (Darkane), and is due to be released in mid-November.
Carnal Forge in Writing Mode
Carnal Forge guitarist Jari Kuusisto recently checked in with the following report:
“Because of the canceled Metal Gods US tour, Carnal Forge have already started to write some new material. It is even stronger than The More You Suffer, and we promise that you fans won’t get disappointed.
At this moment we are working on getting back to US as soon as possible. Nothing at this moment is for sure, but maybe we will come back in the summer to rip everyone’s soul to pieces ones again."
God Forbid Cover GN'R for Tribute Album
God Forbid have just finished recording a rendition of Guns n’ Roses ‘Out Ta Get Me’ with producer Chris Pearce. The track will be included on the upcoming tribute disc due out through Law Of Inertia Records that features some of today’s best metal/hardcore acts including Dillinger Escape Plan, Unearth, Everytime I Die, Haste and Nora, among others. A fall release is expected.
In related news, after months of delays and scheduling conflicts, the group will enter Trax East Studios in July with producer Eric Rachel to record their new album. The set will be mixed by Colin Richardson in August.The as-yet-untitled album is slated for an early 2004 release.
God Forbid are also solidifying plans for a full US tour, to take place late this summer. Details will be announced as they become available
Krisium Confirmed for Brazil's Porao do Rock
Brazilian death metallers Krisiun have been confirmed to appear at Porão do Rock, Brazil's second-largest rock festival, on July 5 in Brasilia (Brazilian capital). Crowds of up to 70,000 are expected at the event, which will include appearances by Nação Zumbi, Raimundos and Dark Avenger, among others.

Blo.Torch Prepare to Record Sophomore Album
Dutch death metallers Blo.Torch will be entering Excess Studio in Rotterdam, Holland in late July to record their sophomore album for a late 2003 release through an as-yet-undetermined label. The follow-up to 1999's "Blo.torch" (Wicked World) will be produced by Hans Pietersen, who has worked with the group on all of their recordings thus far. "We are confident that he will do an excellent job, as he did before," the band said in an official statement.
Orange Goblin is Saving Rock and Roll
British doomsters Orange Goblin will enter New Rising Studios in Peldon, Essex on July 14 to begin recording their fifth album, "Progress Stops Here", for a late October release through Rise Above Records. The record will be produced by the legendary Billy Anderson (Clutch, Brutal Truth, Neurosis, Sleep), who worked with the band on "The Big Black", and it is the first full album to feature the band as a four-piece following the departure of guitarist Pete O'Malley.

Destruction Set 'Metal Discharge' Release Date
Veteran German thrashers Destruction have set a September 22 European release date through Nuclear Blast Records for their new album, entitled "Metal Discharge".
The limited-edition version of the album will include a bonus CD featuring demo material, cover tunes and a unreleased version of the Destruction classic "Bestial Invasion".

Blood and Time Recording Debut Album
Blood and Time, the new band featuring Neurosis members Scott Kelly (guitars and lead vocals) and Noah Landis (keyboards, atmosphere, and backing vocals), are in the studio completing their debut release for Neurot Recordings entitled "At The Foot Of The Garden". The recording is comprised of several of the songs performed by Kelly during his solo set at last year's Beyond The Pale festival, as well as some new material. According to an official statement, "The sound has evolved into acoustic/electric psychedelia, focusing on big space and beauty with an occasional sonic eruption. Lyrically deep and musically vast, Blood and Time's intent is obvious... to cut you to your soul."
Mayhem to Record New Material in November
Mayhem's forthcoming album, "Chimera", will be recorded at Puk Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark over a four-five week period beginning in November. The follow-up to 2000's "Grand Declaration Of War" is tentatively due in early 2004 through Season Of Mist Records.
In other news, Mayhem will be selling their stage backdrop they have used from 1997-2003. More information will be made available soon

Over 100 Arrested at Sweden's Hultsfred Fest
Over 100 people were arrested in Hultsfred, Sweden, Saturday (June 14) when a group of 500 festival goers began a "Conga" through the festival camping area, according to NME.com. Strapping Young Lad, In Flames, The Haunted and Queens of the Stone Age were among the acts that appeared at the three-day event, which ranks as Sweden's largest outdoor festival.
Security were reportedly called to calm an after-festival party in the early hours of Sunday morning (June 15) and quickly identified around 100 people who they suspected could have escalated the frivolity into violence. More...
Mnemic Tap Rhys Fulber to Remix Song
Danish "hybrid metal" act Mnemic, featuring former Invocator session drummer Brian Rasmussen and ex-Mercenary guitarist Mircea G. Eftemie, have tapped legendary Front Line Assembly mainman Rhys Fulber (Fear Factory, Paradise Lost) to remix their track "BloodStained" for inclusion on a special edition of their forthcoming debut album, "Mechanical Spin Phenomena", and on an exclusive club single.
