Cold Take A Break From Touring

After four months of non-stop touring in support of their newly released Year of the Spider CD (Flip/Geffen)--which debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart--COLD will take a short break from the road.

The group was scheduled to appear on this summer’s Lollapalooza festival from July 3 through August 23, but have drooped out of that tour as well. A major reason cited is that the father of bass tech and temporary bassist Larry Melero has passed away. He has been filling in for Cold's Jeremy Marshall, who has been unable to play since breaking his arm late last month.

According to the band's management, also canceled are the group's planned European dates opening for Staind. That stretch was due to kick off Aug. 27 in London.

Cold has been out on the road for the past four months, touring in support of "Year of the Spider" (Flip/Geffen). In late May, the set debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 208,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. The single "Stupid Girl" is in the top-10 of Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks and Mainstream Rock Tracks airplay tallies.
