Septicflesh Comments On Upcoming Album
Riding high from the success of previous album "The Great Mass" (reviewed here) and recent reissues of the band's first four albums, Hellenic metal outfit Septicflesh has completed the recordings for an upcoming full-length, which is currently untitled.
The new album will consist of 10 songs that were recorded once again at Devasoundz Studios in Athens, Greece and in Prague, Czech Republic with the collaboration of the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir. It was mixed and mastered in Los Angeles by producer Logan Mader.
“We are really exhausted from the work on this record, but also very proud of the results,” the band comments. “We worked very hard with producer Logan Mader to bring you the ultimate death metal soundtrack for your darkest dreams. The compositions are progressive with a lot of emotional peaks, while at the same time the songs sound very aggressive and powerful. We also had the chance to work for the first time with a full children choir beside the regular adult choir, and that helped us dive deeper into darker cinematic atmospheres. We have achieved a new level of extreme emotions.”
The album will be released this summer. Stay tuned for further details.

Lords Of The Trident Returning To WOM VII Fest
The Warriors of Metal Fest will be welcoming back the Madison, WI power metallers who rocked the Warriors Of Metal Fest III & IV Open Air shows in 2010 and 2011, the Lords Of The Trident. Fest organizer Datis Alaee comments:
"Not only did this band inject a lot of fun into our annual summer festival but the band's most outgoing and 'vocal' personality, but Ty Christian has been a source of incredible support for us, showing up each subsequent year in 2012 right in the middle of the storm we were being hit with and 2013 with more and more metalheads from Wisconsin to enjoy themselves during our metal weekend in Ohio. Those friends have since become new festival fans who are becoming repeat attendees! That kind of support is very rare and very much appreciated!!!"
Band founder and vocalist, Lord Fang Von Wrathenstein states: "The Lords Of The Trident are excited to be able to return to the Warriors of Metal fest, and do battle with all of the other true METAL bands and fans out there. It has been two years since our last appearance at the fest, and this has given the fest organizer the proper time to rebuild the stage, put out all of the fires, bury their dead, and fill in the giant crater caused by our 2011 performance.
We are once again ready to melt faces, abduct Ohio's women, and slay all the unworthy who stand in our path. We sincerely hope that the venue has installed the necessary shock absorbing concrete slabs to withstand the earth shattering, inferno-producing metal we plan to unleash. WARRIORS! Ready your axes and prepare your strongest armor - YOU SHALL NEED IT!"

Monsterworks Streaming "Universe"
13.7 billion years in the making, Eat Lead and Die Music is pleased to announce the impending release of Monsterworks' "Universe" on March 11th. The album will be available as a download and special-edition, numbered digipak 5.1 surround mix on DVD signed by the band, with lyric booklet.
GunShyAssassin.com has posted the exclusive premiere of the title track from Universe. Listen now at this location. The cover art and tracklisting of the seven-song "Universe" is posted below. Vocalist/Guitarist Jon had this to say about the themes surrounding the album:
"This is our follow up to 'Monsterworks :: Earth' from last year. We wanted to top ourselves conceptually, so how to surpass an album about the life cycle of Earth from birth to death? It could only be an album about the life cycle of the Universe from birth to death.
At least it started out that way with lyrics exploring big bang to heat death, but it gets a little philosophical along the way considering the path mankind might take in its evolution. It is a bloody long time until the last black hole evaporates.
'Universe' is an ode to the great void and everything in it. We aim to produce metal which blurs the boundaries between preposterousness and the familiar while hopefully initiating a little independent thought along the way."

A split EP with Young And In The Way dropped in mid-2011, followed one year later by their debut album, Committed To The Ground, the brutalizing, morose crust attributes of the band showing through more with each new release.
"Torch Runner is currently finalizing their newest works at Legitimate Business in Greensboro, North Carolina with Kris Hilbert at the control board. Upon completion, it will be fitted with original arty by Fernando Pena at No Prophet Dead Press, which is in its final stages as well, and prepared for public disbursement via Southern Lord."
Stated the members of Torch Runner from the studio: "We all feel like we are really hitting our stride with the songs on this record. We've been a band for seven years now, and everything we're writing is stronger than ever. This is the fastest record that we've written without a doubt. More...
