Yesterday it was announced that Newsted had been removed from two Soundwave festival shows and replaced by Whitechapel.
The Soundwave organizers stated the change was made "at the request of Megadeth," which has caused Megadeth's management to comment on the issue.
Speaking to ABC News Radio, Megadeth tour manager Jim Carroccio states: "Dave Mustaine is not responsible for booting Newsted off [the Soundwaves festival]. Dave did not put him on the bill and did not take him off the bill.
"Dave [Mustaine] submitted a list of bands he was comfortable with and the promoter ignored the list. Dave and Jason are friends [and] this has blown up into something silly."
The dates to now feature Megadeth, Whitechapel, and Volbeat are as follows:
TUE 25 FEBRUARY - SYDNEY, ROUNDHOUSE – Lic A/A
THU 27 FEBRUARY - MELBOURNE, THE FORUM – 18+
