Samael Frontman Talks About Split w/ Century Media

SAMAEL guitarist/vocalist Vorph recently spoke to Denmark's Antenna webzine about the group's latest CD, "Reign of Light", and their split with longtime label Century Media Records, among other topics. An excerpt from the interview follows:

Antenna: The most urgent question for me tonight must presumably be the your split with Century Media in favour of the comparatively smaller label Regain Records? Do explain you motives for such a radical change...

Vorph: "We finished the contract. We signed with the label in '92, and now we wanted more control with what we're doing, although they wanted to sign us again. We made our own imprint just to keep control with our own productions. At the moment, the imprint is merely regarding our own productions, and we're not planning to sign other bands right now, but maybe later we well. Who knows?"

Antenna: Isn't Century Media the perfect label for your type of music? More...

Dallas Mag Apologizes For Dimebag 'Casket Photo'

A weekly Dallas magazine has apologized to the friends and family members of late DAMAGEPLAN/ex-PANTERA guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott for running a photo on the cover of last week's issue of what appeared to be Dimebag lying in his casket prior to being buried. Dallas Observer Managing Editor Patrick Williams has released the following statement regarding the matter:

"To all the fans, friends and family of 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott who wrote and called in to complain about our image of the slain rocker on the cover of last week's issue, please know this: We did not, whatever you may think, shoot a photo of him lying in his casket. The image we published of the DAMAGEPLAN guitarist, who was slain by a crazed fan at an Ohio nightclub December 8, was an illustration created by artist David Hollenbach based on old file photos of Abbott. (Four other people, including the gunman, were also killed in the attack.) More...

COB Keyboardist Explains Alexi's Broken Arm

According to Scythes-of-Bodom.com, Children of Bodom keyboardist, Janne, has posted the following message regarding frontman Alexi's broken arm on the official CoB messageboard:

He "fell" down from about 150cm high on his wrist and the right side of his face. I didn't even notice his face I was so worried about his wrist cause I saw how he fell and knew that it had to hurt his arm. I picked him up and was asking about the wrist when others with us noticed that his face was bleeding pretty bad. We went to the hospital and now he has a cast on for 5 weeks I guess. I hope his wrist is ok when they remove the cast and he can start playing again.

In other news, Children of Bodom's "Trash, Lost & Strungout" is still going strong on the official Finnish single chart. It has been on the chart for a total of 17 weeks.
