Machine Head Are Hellalive
Machine Head are to name their upcoming live album ‘Hellalive’. Due out early next year on Roadrunner, this CD mainly features the band’s show at London’s Brixton Academy on December 8, 2001. It will also have a live video of Machine Head performing ‘The Burning Red’.
Halford To Release Japanese EP
Halford are to release a Japanese only EP in late January. The tracks featured will be ‘She’ and ‘Fugitive’, plus video clips for ‘Betrayal’ and ‘In The Morning’. Halford start a Japanese tour on February 11, supported by Children Of Bodom.
Merlin Work on Finishing Touches
Merlin, a technical death metal band from Russia, are putting the finishing touches to their new studio album, titled Brutal Constructor.
Divine Enema Hits Blockage
The new album of Divine Enema will be delayed because of some problems with the mixing. The album, titled Under Phoenix Phenomenon, will be released on a new date which will be announced soon.
The Kiss of Death Enter Studio
The Kiss Of Death, featuring two members of defunct band Turmoil, is currently in the studio recording a five-song CDep. The material will be shopped to labels and also sold at shows. The group consists of Jon Gula (ex-Turmoil), Jeff Hydro (ex-Despair, ex-Turmoil), John Gardner (Sever The Fallen), Jimmy Dorewood, and Chris Fey (ex-Dragon Green) and has been together for nearly one year. Recording should be finished by January, but obviously, a record label hasn't yet been selected. Cave In Update, European Tour
Work has been completed on the new Cave In full-length, Antenna. The record is tentatively scheduled for release in March 2003 via RCA Records (vinyl will be handled by Hydra Head Records). The first single from the album will be the track, "Anchor." The track will also be the subject of a music video, which will be directed by Dean Karr. Down Cancel Appearance at Beast Feast
Down are the latest act to have cancelled their participation in Beast Feast 2002, a two-day festival set to take place on December 14-15 at Makuhari Messe Event Hall in Tokyo, Japan. No reason was given for the cancellation.

Runemagick Release Date Set
Swedish "dark death metal" act Runemagick have set Mar. 16, 2003 as the release date through Aftermath Music for their next full-length effort, titled Darkness Death Doom.
The album, which is currently being recorded at the band's own Magick Sound Studio, will be available in three different formats: limited double CD, limited digi-CD, and regular CD. A follow-up release, The Pentagram (which will also be included with the double-CD version of Darkness Death Doom) will be out on May 19 in a limited print.
Cradle of Filth U.K. Shows Rescheduled
Cradle Of Filth have announced the rescheduled dates for their U.K. mini-tour. The shows, which were originally set to take place in mid-December, were postponed after vocalist Dani Filth was diagnosed with a respiratory condition, which currently prevents him from singing.

Opeth Finalize Damnation Tracklisting
Opeth have finalized the track listing for their upcoming CD, Damnation, which was recently mixed by Porcupine Tree frontman Steven Wilson for a tentative March/April release.

Lordi Set to Play Wacken 2003
Finnish "sensation" LORDI are are the latest act to have been officially confirmed for next year's installment of Wacken Open Air festival.

Amorphis Finish Instrumental Parts
Finland's Amorphis have finished recording all instrumental parts for their upcoming album at Helsinki's Finnvox studios. 15 songs were reportedly tracked during the sessions, with 10 tentatively scheduled to appear on the as-yet-untitled CD, which is set to surface in the spring.
Amorphis frontman Pasi Koskinen will shortly begin tracking vocals for the album at Seawolf studio in Suomenlinna, just outside Helsinki. The vocal parts will be produced by Seawolf owner Hannu Leiden (ex-singer of Havana Blacks), who has previously worked with Hanoi Rocks, among others. More...
Porcupine Tree's Wilson on Heavy Influences
Progressive rock act Porcupine Tree have never denied their interest in heavy music genres, and as a recent interview with frontman Steven Wilson in Canada's Chart Attack, the impact of of listening to such music affected the way they wrote new album, In Absentia.
"The big influences when I was writing the record were Meshuggah and Opeth, no doubt about that," revealed Wilson. "And I actually thank those two bands on the sleeve notes. I can't really overstate the importance of those two bands on the way I went about this record. When I was writing the record I was listening to those bands. I mean, I was working with one of them [Wilson co-produced and performed on Opeth's Deliverance and Blackwater Park albums; he was also asked to produce Katatonia's upcoming album]. And it was a pleasure to be working with them, just the sophistication of the music." More...
