COC Splits With Bassist Mike Dean
Corrosion Of Conformity bassist and co-founder Mike Dean has announced that he has decided to part ways with the band, after over thirty years since he rejoined the band in 1993. A statement from the musician reads as follows:
“Recently I made a decision to step away from Corrosion Of Conformity, a band started 40 odd years ago by Reed Mullin, Woody Weatherman, and myself. I’m extremely proud of everything we’ve done together, and look forward to hearing more from the band going forward.
"When I rejoined COC for the finishing touches of the “Deliverance” album, I moved back to Raleigh, NC for an all-in creative campaign, but time, distance and side projects and life in general has changed all of that. Ever since Reed drifted away from the band and then passed way, it’s been difficult for me to collaborate on new material with bandmates who live hundreds of miles away.
"I look forward to putting together a new Raleigh based outlet to create new music with more alacrity and with more of an emphasis on my own ideas than in recent times. Also, I look forward to continuing to record and produce other artists.
"All the best to Woodroe, Pepper, and COC crew, and most importantly, many big thanks to the fans of all iterations of the band, who have made this real for all of these years.
"Salute!

Melted Bodies Unleashes New Single
Los Angeles' acclaimed avant-garde metal band Melted Bodies has revealed their next single, "Something Is Wrong," from their long-awaited sophomore album, "The Inevitable Fork," that will be self-released on October 18th. The latest track from the band's warped mind is a fever dream of frantic industrialized metal; a foreboding song that stares down a psychedelic kaleidoscope of ominous reality and turbulent sound from Southern California's trailblazing experimentalists.
"Something is wrong. We all can feel it. So many of us inundated with the fear surrounding our current political climate and literal world climate it feels at times like it's paralyzing. We stand in place frozen like a helpless child staring at a movie screen. Watching as we fall apart. War is coming, but not like we thought it would. It's terrifying, lonely and inevitable." - Melted Bodies More...
InnerWish To Release New Album In November
Today, Hellenic melodic metal heroes InnerWish unveil their exciting new single featuring Blind Guardian front-man Hansi Kürsch. Entitled "Sea Of Lies" is the first taste from the band's upcoming album "Ash Of Eternal Flame," which is set to hit stores worldwide on November 8, 2024 via Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM). You can watch the video below.
"It wasn't the 'Hansi song' in the beginning but there actually was no way around! And how couldn't it become that since Hansi Kürsch blessed it with his voice! We love 6/8-time songs, they come totally naturally out of us and this one might be our best one to date! Lyric-wise, it's about one of our times' biggest problems: immigration. The story's told from the perspective of a child, leaving home and warmth for an unknown destination and a probably dark future. The obstacles, the images, the thoughts - they're all shown through the child's eyes and mind. Sometimes people overlook this situation perhaps believing that it doesn't affect them or it's far from their future. But is it after all? Who's next in line? Children are the future. They all deserve the world. Nothing less!" state the group.
Drummer Franki Samoilis adds: "I've been a HUGE Blind Guardian fan since my teenage years, and so is our singer George. Having Hansi Kürsch lend his voice to one of our songs was a childhood dream come true. Thanks to my best friend, Sakis Fragos from Rock Hard Greece, we were able to make it happen. When Hansi sent us his recordings, it was a surreal moment - I was moved to tears. That voice, that presence...we are beyond honoured to have him on our album." More...

New Avatarium Album Set For January 2025 Release
January 24, 2025 will see Swedish doom and hard rock maestros Avatarium release their much-awaited new studio offering "Between You, God, the Devil and The Dead" through AFM Records. The band's sixth album will be available as ltd. LP Vinyl (Black, Orange/White, Silver), a 2-CD Ear Book, CD Jewelcase and Digital formats.
Following the previously-released, first single "Long Black Waves" – blending gloomy hard rock with heavy doom metal accents – today, Avatarium present an official music video for their haunting album title track! Guitarist Marcus Jidell comments: "Sometimes it feels like being a true musician today is being a part of an underground resistance movement, resisting a culture that wants our brains and souls to shut down. Here's a song that wants to turn your gaze towards something different. A song made by humans for humans."
More than ten years ago with founding Avatarium, Candlemass icon Leif Edling made the doom metal world a darker and ultimately more interesting place. Over the next years, they released two EPs, four critically acclaimed full-length records, and a live DVD, "An Evening With Avatarium – Live in Stockholm." Edling eventually left Avatarium's ranks due to health issues, but the band forged onward, and 2022 found them capping off a prolific decade with their latest album and AFM Records debut, "Death, Where Is Your Sting."
Following the much-acclaimed record release, lauded by fans and music press worldwide and numerous live appearances at prestigious festivals or on tour with acts such as Swallow The Sun, early 2025 will see the Swedish doom maestros even double down on all expectations! Their forthcoming studio offering, "Between You, God, The Devil and The Dead" — produced and mixed by Marcus Jidell with a mastering by Svante Forsbäck (Candlemass, Amorphis and many more) — features eight new enthralling tracks, that showcases the band's exceptional songwriting skills and qualities. Avatarium have evolved since their 2013 self-titled debut, and although they have always introduced new elements along the way, with their epic fusion of a doom-ladden occult sound and dark, heavy yet melancholic, poetic facets, the Swedish collective fronted by extraordinary vocalist Jennie-Ann Smith proves, why they belong to one of the most unique acts the modern heavy music scene has to offer! Athena XIX Posts New Lyric Video Online
Athena XIX presents the third single from their new album "Everflow Part 1: Frames Of Humanity," which will be released on October 25, 2024 via Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM). "I Wish" is a magnificent new hymn by the Italian cult progressive quintet, and features no less than vocalist Roy Khan (Conception, ex-Kamelot) as counterpart to front-man Fabio Lione (Angra, ex-Rhapsody Of Fire, a.o.), creating a brilliant duet that many melodic/power/symphonic metal maniacs thought they would never hear. You can check out the lyric video for the song below.
"Finally me and Roy together on one song! I was really happy to know that he liked the song and wanted to be part of this new Athena XIX record, he was free to improvise and to record his parts the way he wanted to. I just sent him the song with my vocals and let him freely add and sing in the moments he preferred to and I have to say that the combination is amazing! Our two voices combine very well! I'm sure that fans will love it! It's a really nice and cool song, with a great chorus in my opinion, one of the best tracks on this record and a perfect choice thinking about Roy's voice and style," jubilates singer Fabio Lione. Imperial Triumphant Debuts New Standalone Single
New York experimental metal band Imperial Triumphant has released a new music video for the standalone single, "Eye Of Mars." You can check it out below.
Imperial Triumphant comments: "It is seen through the ages that universal truth rises to the top. With this in mind, leaders of civilization are divided in control methods deployed through various mechanisms, some for the sake of humanity and some for the sake of interests that don't necessarily benefit humanity. The sum total of the entire apparatus then reaches a boiling point, after which time agendas are revealed.
"On a much higher level exists that which lies beyond the five senses, beyond the science and materialism matrix. Many sacred texts worthy of protection by the people have endured while existing in relative obscurity as allegory. The knowledge gets passed down through generational cycles and ultimately makes visible that collective connection in all the world and all of us. This lights up the consciousness with a venerable force like electricity and music.
"Under the watchful eye, Mars slew the dragon, and seizing its teeth out of the great gaping mouth, scattered them broadcast like seeds unto us." More...

Fire Action To Release New Album In November
With three albums – "Rock Brigade" (2016), "Fahrenhater" (2018) and "9112" (2020) – to their name, Fire Action are anything but newcomers and have long established themselves as an integral part of the Finnish metal scene. However, their international career will undoubtedly gain even more momentum with their upcoming album release "Until The Heat Dies" and their contract with renowned German metal label, Steamhammer/SPV.
There are a number of arguments that support this view, the most important one being that the quartet surrounding guitarist Juri Vuortama and vocalist Pete Ahonen has taken a real quantum leap in musical terms. Eleven traditional yet diverse metal songs, from the grooving opener "Storm Of Memories" to the anthemic finale "Midnight Avenu‘", emphasise the group‘s impressive development on "Until The Heat Dies," which Vuortama could hardly describe more aptly: "It‘s riffs, riffs and riffs, with awesome melodies on top!," he comments on the dozen or so new songs.
The album will be available from 29 November 2024 on CD, LP and for digital download. Fire Action will also bring out three lead singles: The song "Hard Days, Long Nights," including lyric video which is released today, followed by "No Drone Zone" plus video on 25 October 2024 and "Survive" (also supported by a video) on 22 November 2024.

Veiled Reveals New Album Details
The UK’s Veiled are quickly carving out their own unique path within the metal scene. Their new full-length album, "SE/CT," out 18th October via Seek and Strike is a dynamic, highly energetic and uncompromising metallic assault. Today the band release the album’s second single, "The Sentence." You can check it out below.
Veiled commented: "We always try to channel a specific emotion or feeling with each release and this album invokes a feeling of sheer terror. We wanted an air of unease around the songs, playing with tension and really appreciating the power that silence can have. The format of an album gives us the time to build more of a story and experiment dynamically compared to a shorter release. The album allowed us to delve deeper into our more atmospheric and dynamic side.
"Our second single, 'The Sentence,' is a song about a meeting with our leader after performing a ritual to summon him and how he can only help once they have given their life to The Sect. This track was chosen as a single because we wanted to showcase something faster and something without clean vocals. ‘Omen of Torture’ has a huge chorus, but we wanted to showcase all aspects of what Veiled can be. The video shows Kyle’s introduction to The Sect, everyone’s ritual is unique, and we felt it the right song to showcase his initiation due to the lyrical content.
"As a collective, we’re proud of how massive the album sounds. The pacing and track placements makes the album ebb and flow, helping to tell a story sonically, even instrumentally, without hearing the vocals you can feel the emotions that each track conveys. The stories we tell in our songs and videos have always been a large part of our songwriting and conceptual process. Even if a song doesn’t have a video, we always tend to write as though it will, having vivid visual imagery that goes along with the music. The album is an extension of this and a huge step up from our previous offerings. We try to keep the listener guessing as to exactly where a song or a story is going to take them.
"If you’re a fan of heavy music, then we know that we will have at least one song that connects with you. From our terrifyingly heavy songs to slower more anthemic-based songs. If you like extremely heavy music, but also like huge sing-along choruses, the two don’t always have to be mutually exclusive. Join The Sect, you might just be surprised what you find." More...
Kanonenfieber Debuts "Waffenbrüder" Video
Before releasing their sophomore album "Die Urkatastrophe" on Friday, September 20th, 2024 Kanonenfieber are dropping their last single and video. You can check it out below.
Kanonenfieber about "Waffenbrüder": "It is the year 1916. Two best friends stand in the clothing depot of a Bavarian barracks. With chests swelling with pride, they receive their field-gray uniforms. They are going to war.
"For so long, they had yearned for adventure. Even as young boys, they listened in awe to the stories their fathers told around the campfire: man-to-man combat in glorious battles. Armed with sticks, they reenacted their favorite heroes and won many a victory. Since childhood, they had been brothers in arms.
"But now, in the shadow of the front and the barrage of shells, their childhood dreams begin to fade. Only the sheer will to survive and their bond of friendship keeps them alive. For now. By day they man their post, by night they shelter in the dugout—nothing can separate them. Almost nothing, for the enemy artillery has the power to tear apart iron, flesh, and even the strongest of bonds. So it happens that during the spring offensive, a shell strikes the foxhole occupied by the two friends, taking one of them down into the earth with it. And there he remains, the brother in arms, buried in foreign soil, as far from home as one could ever be.
"The surviving friend, deeply stricken by grief over the loss, composed a laurel for his fallen comrade. And those words of sorrow have been made tangible and audible. This is the true story of brothers in arms." More...
Body Count Releases Pink Floyd Cover
Today, Body Count releases their powerful rendition of "Comfortably Numb" featuring David Gilmour—a fresh take on the classic Pink Floyd track that explores themes of detachment and introspection. Gilmour's seminal guitar work adds a haunting, authentic touch, seamlessly blending with Body Count's signature intensity and Ice’s profound new lyrics, making the track a fusion of rock history and raw, modern energy. Body Count has also revealed the release date for their new album, Merciless, set to drop on 22nd November via Century Media.
On the new single, frontman Ice-T explains:
"For me, 'Comfortably Numb', is an introspective song—it's me acknowledging that I'm older now. I'm telling the younger generation, you've got two choices: you can keep the fire burning or you can give up. It's me trying to make sense of what's happening, but also pointing out that we're all in a place where we don’t have to face reality. We've got flat-screen TVs and popcorn, and we can just sit back and watch the chaos of the world like it’s a TV show. It doesn’t feel real until it shows up at your door. I’m a little numb, too—we all are."
David Gilmour comments:
"Body Count's version of 'Comfortably Numb' is quite radical, but the words really struck me. It astonishes me that a tune I wrote almost 50 years ago is back with this great new approach. They've made it relevant again. The initial contact from Ice-T was for permission to use the song, but I thought I might offer to play on it as well. I like the new lyrics, they're talking about the world we’re living in now, which is quite scary. Ice-T and Body Count played in London recently, sadly I couldn't make it, but if another opportunity came up to play with them, I'd jump at it." More...
