Bleeding Through Drops New Single

Southern California metalcore giants Bleeding Through have debuted a brand new single, "Dead But So Alive," available now from SharpTone Records.

Commenting on the song, vocalist Brandan Schieppati says:
"'Dead But So Alive' is a more personal song for me. I battle with being bipolar and it something that I am very up front about in my life. This song is about the daily life and sometimes ugliness of mental illness. It takes a strong support system around me to walk this life and I have my family and amazing band around me to make me feel so alive when I sometimes feel so dead."

Bleeding Through's new single follows "Our Brand Is Chaos" released earlier this year and arrives just ahead of the band's anticipated return to the stage at Furnace Fest 2024 in Birmingham, AL on October 4th. The blistering track is another taste of what's to come from the band's impending, yet to be announced next record. More...

Defiled Streaming New Album

For the past three decades, Defiled have kept their blade sharp. Ever since Tokyo's underground lost their minds over the band's grotesque arsenal of finishing moves, Yusuke Sumita and his death metal samurai set off on a war path that's left nothing but inevitable ruin in their raw wake. They've ransacked Milwaukee Metal Festival and joined forces with their fellow legends in Mayhem, Incantation, Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse.

Having now churned out three albums in almost as many years, metalheads can be forgiven for believing that Defiled had already reached the highest level. But the Japanese legends have topped themselves again on their eighth album. "Horror Beyond Horror" comes out this Friday, September 20, but you can hear all 14 slicing and dicing songs today by listening to the full album stream on Season of Mist's YouTube channel. You can find the video below. More...

Saltwound Reveals Debut Album Details

Following their recent signing to SharpTone Records, Northern Californian deathcore juggernauts Saltwound have announced their long-awaited, debut full-length album, "The Temptation Of Pain," will be released on 1st November.

Saltwound's debut is a colossal beast, seething with furious brutality that roars to life with the most ferocious riffs metalcore fans will hear this year. Featuring tracks like the previously released single "Hollow," "The Temptation Of Pain" rears its head with intense chaos as elements from deathcore and metalcore collide in a violent explosion of sound.

Today, the band reveals the record's second single, "Severance," which features guest Nick Chance of Distinguisher and is accompanied by the turbulent music video below.

Commenting on the song's message, vocalist Spencer Timmons says:
"It’s my wish to separate myself from the world in a macro and micro sense. In my personal life and what I see going on, it’s nothing but pain, misery, and things I can’t stand. So, you want to be set free and separated from this darkness. I love music more than anything, but so much of this industry repulses me." More...

Subway To Sally To Release New Album In December

Rumored to be finished, Subway To Sally, the German grandmasters of folk metal, prove they are very much alive with their 15th studio album! Post Mortem, set for release on December 20, 2024 via Napalm Records, arrives not even two years after their 2023 predecessor, Himmelfahrt, was secretly intended to be the final album of their over 30-year career.

In hindsight, this explains the symbolic title. However, things turned out differently. Subway To Sally had clearly struck a chord with their music, as fan and critic reactions to "Himmelfahrt" were overwhelmingly positive. Following a nearly sold-out tour, it became clear that the 14th album was not the final chapter. The release of "Himmelfahrt" unleashed an untamable lightness and energy that ignited their creativity so strongly that Subway To Sally now stand ready to unveil their brand-new masterpiece, "Post Mortem," created in the fastest production process in the band’s history.

Subway To Sally comment:
"The world around us is still in flux. The prevailing feeling is that nothing is getting better; on the contrary, it seems to be getting worse. The 'Black Death' is over, but the long-awaited Freedom Day after COVID never came. Instead, one problem seems to replace the next. We are living in times of grand failure. Everything swings between darkness and euphoria. People long for distraction, for forgetting, for celebration and freedom – even if only for a moment.
In our music, we address the desires and fears of people, but also their hopes and dreams. In a time when the world seems to be falling apart, we want to be a constant – a voice of authenticity and humanity amidst the turbulence of life." More...

"Aftermath" is "very dark," vocalist Steve Overland comments. "It's about what will be left behind in the end. What will be left on the planet. It's a very dark track and very dark subject matter."

"I almost didn‘t send this one to Steve, and when I did I was certain he wouldn‘t like it," says guitarist Jim Matheos. "I‘m glad I did though, as it‘s one of my favorites on the album now. It‘s quite different for us and I think Steve really shines on this one." More...

Signs Of The Swarm Posts New Music Video Online

In the midst of their stacked headline Decade of the Swarm Tour, Pittsburgh, PA Deathcore unit Signs Of The Swarm have dropped new single "IWONTLETYOUDIE" — their first original music since 2023's breakout LP "Amongst The Low & Empty." The new video was directed and edited by Eric DiCarlo of SquareUp Studios, and the song was once again produced by Josh Schroeder, whose subwoofer HAS been replaced since that album blew it on its would-be first full in-studio playback. Rumour has it he's treating listening sessions of "IWONTLETYOUDIE" with caution — something the band didn't do while writing the song. You can check it out below.

"'IWONTLETYOUDIE' marks the beginning of a new chapter for Signs: a story of an endless cycle of death and resurrection," reveals Signs Of The Swarm drummer and main songwriter Bobby Crow. "We like to use the time between albums to explore new ideas and sounds. We did this on the ultra-heavy 'Unbridled', the more moshy 'The Collection' (featuring guest shouts from Kublai Khan's Matt Honeycutt and Molotov Solution's Nick Arthur), and the eerily melodic crusher 'Pernicious'. 'IWONTLETYOUDIE' touches on all of those and more; our goal was to channel the energy of deathcore that got us excited about it in our younger year, so expect the explosiveness of Amongst the Low & Empty but so much more!" Seventh Crystal Reveals New Album Details

Swedish hard rockers Seventh Crystal are thrilled to announce the release of their highly anticipated third studio album "Entity," set for release on November 8th, 2024, via Frontiers Music Srl. To mark the occasion, the band shares the first single and accompanying video "Path Of The Absurd," which can be seen below.

Describing the new single, the band had to say the following:

"Have you ever been to a concert, or maybe visited a beautiful natural monument and thought, 'Am I the only one experiencing this right here and now?' Everyone's looking at the world through a camera- or a smartphone screen, trying to get online affirmation, likes and reactions. No one is really living in the moment. Path Of The Absurd is about getting caught in that web, pun intended. Addictive, quick impulses that trigger the reward system and then you're stuck. You become an asset to the system, and not the other way around..."

Seventh Crystal also explains the concept of the album: "We live in an age of social media, AI, filter bubbles and sensational headlines by unknown writers. Disinformation controls the masses and creates multiple truths where the reality remains unknown. The development of technology is largely about solving problems and fulfilling human needs. But can it also lead to the opposite and become its own master with humans as its subjects? A kind of being, an "Entity."

"Entity" is a depiction of past and present in which this particular development is at the centre. “For good or bad?”, “Under or out of control?” - the listener is the one who gets to decide”, continue the band. More...

The Crown Debuts "Gone To Hell" Video

“Gone To Hell” is the latest single from Swedish death metal legends The Crown. The thundering new track comes off the band’s anticipated twelfth studio album, "Crown Of Thorns," set for release on October 11th through Metal Blade Records.

Elaborates The Crown guitarist Marko Tervonen, "‘Gone To Hell’ is a very special song in many ways. As you may have seen on our older albums, there are quite a few songs where the music is by ‘Olsfelt/Tervonen’ [referring to former bassist Magnus Olsfelt]. But that doesn’t actually mean that we wrote the song together. It was more about Magnus ‘stealing’ some riffs from me from songs that never made it to the albums. So he nicked the best stuff and included them into his songs. But ‘Gone To Hell’ was the first time we wrote something together. Magnus showed me the basic riffs to the song, on bass. We recorded it to a metronome and then I sort of ‘took over.’ I added the melodies, arranged it, wrote the drums and vocals etc. So, it was actually the only song we ever worked on together before he left the band. The song is more mid-tempo oriented; it almost has some post-punk elements to it. I personally love it and I’m super proud of it. I expect to read a lot of ‘what is this soft song shit’ from people, otherwise I will be very disappointed!"

Cirith Ungol Bids Farewell To London

Goodbyes are never easy. It's been a hell of a road for Cirith Ungol, having formed in 1971, they released their first album ten years later, with three more following before disbanding in 1992. For a long time, they were hailed by many metal bands as an influence and by fans as an underrated gem, before finally returning in 2015 and unleashing two more studio albums. The band are now putting an end to full time touring but before they finish, they made sure to come over to London and perform their final British show, which was originally scheduled to take place at the Islington Academy but was moved to The Underworld in Camden.

The show got underway in ferocious fashion thanks to Manchester metal monsters Heavy Sentence. The band bears the traditional metal flag, but lean more on the grittier side, a la Motorhead than the Iron Maiden worship that rules the modern take on the style. Honestly, I can't remember the last time an opening act went down so well, as by the time the second song, "Age Of Fire" got going, people were already crowd surfing and singing along. Obviously some of these audience members are fans of Heavy Sentence, but it all worked together so well that those who were unfamiliar with the group were soon heavily impressed, with songs like "Medusa" and "Protector" being received really warmly. Heavy Sentence demonstrated tonight that they're one of the most exciting heavy metal bands going in the UK and they've got the charisma and talent to go far. More...

Wolfbrigade Drops "Ways To Die" Video

Swedish hardcore punk veterans Wolfbrigade have unleashed a video for "Ways To Die." The punishing new track comes by way of the band’s long-awaited "Life Knife Death" full-length, out now on Metal Blade Records!

Comments the band, "This is a little gem about the human creativity when it comes to ways of punishing and killing each other in the most terrible ways. Take the sadistic practice of ‘rat torture’ for instance, involving strapping a bucket full of rats to a victim’s naked torso. The bucket is then heated from the outside. The rodents chew their way into the very bowels of the victim in an attempt to escape the heat. All the way through the doomed person’s flesh, and any organs it happens to encounter on its way to freedom. No living being is meant to be caged."

The video for the track was directed by MeANkind with director of photography and editor Jacob Frössén. You can check it out below. More...
