Vulture Unveils New Album Details

If there is one band that combines a classic approach with fresh ideas and an expansive joy of playing to honor their ancestors from the likes of early Exodus, Metallica, or Slayer, then it is the German heavy metal hellions, Vulture. On their fourth album "Sentinels," set for release on April 12th via Metal Blade Records, they prove once again that tradition and further development are not mutually exclusive, but on the contrary can lead to something extraordinary that leaves no headbanger untouched.

"In direct comparison to the last album, 'Dealin' Death,' we've picked up the pace again noticeably," elaborates guitarist Stefan Castevet. "We're bolder and a bit wilder again. It was important to us to be catchy and to include choruses that stick. Of course, we've basically retained our style, but we've defined the framework of the songs more clearly."

In order to create such a monster as "Sentinels," some changes were necessary. "It started with the songwriting, where we took more time than usual. We recorded a total of three demos with numerous songs, which we also produced to the best of our ability. This gave us the chance to let our songs sink in as relatively final versions so that we could then choose the best pieces and - at least in part - rework them again." More...

Freedom Call Announces New Album "Silver Romance"

An album title that fits perfectly in two respects: "Silver Romance" is the name of the latest release by southern German melodic power metal act Freedom Call.

The moniker not only stands for the band’s 25th anniversary – referred to by singer/guitarist and band founder Chris Bay tongue-in-cheek as “our silver wedding anniversary” – but also applies to the content of the recording: "Qualities such as clarity, freedom and lightness are attributed to silver as a precious metal," explains Bay, adding: "Silver is also said to strengthen your self-confidence and imagination. These are all features that also suit Freedom Call and that we’ve incorporated into our new material, both musically and lyrically."

Chris Bay and bandmates Lars Rettkowitz (guitar), Francesco Ferraro (bass) and Ramy Ali (drums), the latter having returned from a private hiatus, have recorded more than a dozen new tracks for "Silver Romance." Without giving too much away: The result is the most diverse and colourful album in the band’s history to date.

"Silver Romance" will be available on CD and for digital download on Steamhammer/SPV from 10 May 2024, and Bay and Co. are set to start their 2024 concert activities only a few days later. To ease the wait until then, four lead singles will be out ahead of the album release, starting from 21 February with the title track "Silver Romance," including a making-of video, followed by "In Quest Of Love" and "High Above" on 20 March and 10 April, both of them complete with lyric clips. Two days before the album’s arrival, 8 May 2024 will see "Supernova," supported by a superb video, round off the quartet of singles. More...

Vltimas Releases New Single "Invictus"

No one can challenge Vltimas. The unholy trinity of David Vincent (ex-Morbid Angel), Rune Eriksen (ex-Mayhem) and Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy) have ruled the underground with a metallic fist for more than 30 years.

Their new album ascends to truly epic heights. On the album's third single, Vltimas issue a thunderous proclamation that they'll never bow down to anyone.

"Invictus" is nothing short of a grand coronation. Flo comes pounding out of the gate before a string of blast beats unfurls with the impressive ease of a king's scroll.

"Once in a blue moon comes a man of great conviction / Making his presence boisterously known."

David issues that edict with a familiar snarl, but his time blessing the sick has only sharpened his delivery. On "Epic," he's brandishing a new style of death metal vocals. Heck, you can actually understand what he's saying, which only proves how Vltimas thrives on pushing the boundaries of extreme metal.

Sure, Rune's tremolo picking is cleaner, faster and more cold-blooded than ever. But "Invictus" shows off the truly blasphemous extent of his axe-wielding powers. Led by a headstrong riff, the song furiously charges to the finish line, only to end with pangs of eerie, melodic dissonance. More...
