Funeral For A Friend Cancel US Tour

Due to unforeseen circumstance Funeral For A Friend are forced to cancel their upcoming US tour. Their drummer, Ryan has a stomach infection and doctors have informed him that he needs to rest and cannot travel. It is unfortunately too last minute for the band to get a replacement drummer for December so they are cancelling the US run. Funeral will return to the states as part of the Taste of Chaos Tour in February 2006.

Funeral will not be playing the shows but some may be kept open for A Static Lullaby and Hopesfall. Check locally for info. Otherwise refunds available from point of purchase.

Message from the band:

"Unfortunately Ryan has been ill and needs treatment here in the UK to remedy his illness, this means that we will be unable to play the shows we had in place along the east coast of the USA and Canada this November/December, we are very, very sorry about this but we want Ryan to get better. We were all looking forward to this tour and meeting up with the friends we have made so far on our trips to the USA but when it comes to situations like this we made a conscious decision that Ryan should be allowed to recover. We truly hope that everyone will understand this, we appreciate all of our fans and all of their commitment to us and we promise to come back even stronger in the new year for the Taste of Chaos USA tour."

Into Eternity Are Home Writing New Material

Tim of Into Eternity has issued the following update:

"It's really nice to take it easy at home. All the guys have been recovering after a year of hard touring. It was an amazing year for our band. There are so many people that we would like to thank for that. Without the fans coming and supporting us, there would be no shows. For that we are very proud of our new fan base. We hope to see you all next year on the road."

"All of December we plan on taking off. In the meantime we will be writing our music for the next Into Eternity album, which we plan on recording in early Spring. It will be good to recharge our batteries and live a "normal" life for awhile. The main focus now will be our new record. I know we have the talent now to come up with some great songs. After doing 140 shows, I think the guys are all comfortable with every aspect of the band. The new songs should prove it all we hope."

Phil Anselmo: "I Would've Taken A Bullet For Dime"

Former PANTERA frontman Philip Anselmo has spoken exclusively to Revolver magazine (web site) about the death of "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, Anselmo's much-rumored substance-abuse problems and the role the heavy metal media has played in PANTERA's eventual demise, among many other topics. Several excerpts from the article (published in the magazine's February 2006 issue, due to hit newsstands on December 6) follow:

Revolver: Tell me about the past year.

Anselmo: "Man, this has been the worst year of my life — it's been the worst year of many people's lives. Ever since… Ever since my guitar player was taken from me, basically."

Revolver: How much do you miss Dime?

Anselmo: "I miss him more than I can even begin to say. I think of him every single waking day — every 30 minutes, if not every five minutes.

"And… [he pauses] Trying not to get choked up here. I'm trying to compose myself. I speak with Rex [Brown, PANTERA's bass player] often. We both are dealing with it… I'm in therapy. I never had to see a psychiatrist before. I see one regularly now. They tried to put me on antidepressants, but I won't take them because I don't trust drugs at all anymore. I don't trust a fucking pill, not unless it's a vitamin.

All Shall Perish Announce New Vocalist and Song

Oakland based Death Metal band ALL SHALL PERISH have released a new demo song titled "Eradication" with a new vocalist, Eddie Hermida (ex-Gunmetal Grey). Along with their new lead guitarist Chris Storey, they are nearing the end of the writing process for their yet to be titled sophomore album which will be released on Nuclear Blast Records. This year saw the band touring with acts such as Agnostic Front, Death Before Dishonor, Hate Eternal, and Krisun; while playing shows with everyone from Comeback Kid to Kreator in support of their first full length re-release on Nuclear Blast.

"After touring with some of the best in hardcore and death metal, we really got inspired to take this band full on in both directions and I'm sure everyone will hear the influence. All I can say is thank you so much to people like Erik Rutan, Derek Roddy, Roger Merit and Vinnie Stigma....thanks for being true inspirations. We have parted ways with our vocalist Craig Betit and he remains a friend for life to all of us and is livin' it up on the east coast makin' bank; we all wish him the best of luck. Our new material will have something for every heavy music fan! We have all matured musically (some of us were only 18 at the time of the last album), you can expect a lot of variation amongst the songs....we are again ready to rock, bitches!"

Novembers Doom Commence Writing New Album

Chicago dark metal act Novembers Doom have commenced writing the follow-up album to the well-received "The Pale Haunt Departure" released earlier this year in March on The End Records.

Says lead singer Paul Kuhr about the forthcoming release:

“We are currently in the writing process of the new CD, and early plans are to begin recording in April 2006. The new material is a huge step forward in song writing, not only separating our sound from our peers, but digging deep into our roots of early Chicago death metal. Faster, heavier, and relentless. It will be quite difficult to label us in the ‘doom’ category after this release.”
