November's Doom Finish Mixing
November's Doom have completed the final mixing of their new CD To Welcome The Fade with Neil Kernon, in Tornillo Texas at the Sonic Ranch. Mastering will occur this month and the release date is set for sometime this summer. After months of looking for a replacement for Mary Bielich on Bass, old bass player from years past, Brian Whited (formally of Avernus) has joined the band full time.
Dark Symphonies Signs Nicodemus
After releasing a self financed album Nicodemus signed a deal with Dark Symphonies. The band is already recording it's debut for the label. The album is titled The Supernatural Omnibus and is scheduled for a September release.
Hellfest Venue and Bands Confirmed
More plans have been worked out for this year's Hellfest. Once again the event will be held in Syracuse, NY, though they've upgraded the venue to the New York State Fairgrounds. The fest will be held on July 12th, 13th, and 14th with roughly 105 bands performing. Tickets will be $25.00 per day or $65.00 for the entire weekend ($60 advance, prices may fluctuate) and ordering information will be available soon. Moonspell added to Graspop Metal Meeting
Biohazard and Moonspell are the latest acts to have been confirmed for this year's Graspop Metal Meeting festival, which is scheduled to take place on Friday, July 5th and Saturday, July 6th in Dessel, Belgium. The full list of artists set to appear at the event now looks like this: More...
Pain Covered Beatles
Pain, featuring Hypocrisy mainman Peter TÃĪgtgren, will shortly be issuing their cover of the Beatles classic "Eleanor Rigby" as the third single from their current CD, Nothing Remains The Same.
Dillinger/Patton complete mini CD
New Jersey's The Dillinger Escape Plan announced they've finally completed new mini-album, Irony Is A Dead Scene, with Mike Patton on vocals.
Said to be "something new for both Dillinger and Patton fans alike," Irony Is A Dead Scene is the first recorded work from the band since 1999's heralded Calculating Infinity effort. The album was produced by Chris Badami at Portrait Studios in Lincoln Park, New Jersey. Irony Is A Dead Scene is four tracks spanning 18 minutes. Look for Irony Is A Dead Scene out August 27, 2002 on Epitaph Records. As for the band's second Relapse Records full-length, look for that to drop sometime in late 2002
Cephalic Carnage's Lucid Interval
Colorado grindcore outfit Cephalic Carnage have completed work on their third full-length album, Lucid Interval.
Recorded at Hellion Studios in their home state, Lucid Interval is, according to frontman Lenzig, the band's "most brutal yet strangest release yet."
Opeth Book Studio Time
Sweden's Opeth recently booked Nacksving/Maestro Music Studios to record their ambitious two-CD album (one heavy, one mellow) and follow-up to last year's celebrated Blackwater Park opus.
Opeth will be helped by Fredrik Nordstrom and Porcupine Tree frontman Steven Wilson at the production helm. The Nacksving facility is the very same one used on the Still Life album.
